I'm not saying they should be, but if they're committed to Scal then maybe that's why. I haven't ever liked the Grande/Scal pairing.

Drew Carter should be good. I like Sean Grande too, I thought they would go with Sean. Drew Carter sounds good on the mic.

Seems alright but just broadcast the Grande feed on both radio and Tv when Gorman is done.

Wildly obvious answer these people always over complicating things.

Well., I guess we'll get our first impression on Sunday. Good luck, kid. You've got some gigantic shoes to fill.

Nope. I refuse to accept this. First of all, no one will be able to replace Mike. Just like how Scal has not replaced Tommy. Those are the voices of my childhood and no one will ever be able to fill their shoes.

But if anyone deserved a shot, it's Grande. This is BS

He sounds fine, but he knows about a fraction about this team compared to Grande. It's going to be a fast learn for him, if he's going to be able to keep up to the C's. He will get roasted pretty fast if he doesn't. I think Grande tried a little too hard when he got his TV chances, and overdid the humor a little too much. He was better on the radio, and if he just stuck to that, may have come across better on TV. I'd definitely rather hear Grande announcing big wins in the playoffs over Drew.

Let's see how he sounds in preseason. Another team could grab Grande now. He may not want to stick around and wouldn't blame him. It seemed like he was waiting for Mike to retire.

I've never been a fan of Sean Grandiose, but he is a much better choice than the cookie cutter 'Cuse guy, especially
when you're partnered with Scalabad, who is really below average and terrible, and seems to jinx the team
with his comments.

I'm not saying he's the second coming of Tommy, but I watch a lot of other broadcasts too and we could definitely do a lot worse than Scal as a color commentator. I feel like I'm saying this too often btw lol.

I really dislike Grande. I don’t understand why people like him. He’s good on radio but awful on TV. Just straight awful.

We will see on this Carter guy! I’m super happy they didn’t pick Grande.

I can't say you're wrong after listening to the Red Sox telecasts/radio this year, but compared to Heinsohn, Cousy, Ordway, Max, Most...
Scal is definitely the runt of the litter.

Maybe it's the off-season and I need to refresh my brain, but I honestly can't think of a single color commentator off the top of my head I like from another team. Maybe the lady that does the Kings broadcasts, but nobody else I can think of.

Edit: I forgot I do enjoy the vocabulary of Frazier doing the Knicks games, but Mike Breen kinda ruins it.

Scal is pretty bad. The amount of times he’s **** on the other team/their players only for them to cook us in the same game is almost funny at this point. Dude said Mitchell Robinson was a terrible defender and we went on to lose at home to the Knicks (when they were a lottery team). When we got off to a hot start last year he said the team had a chance to go 50/40/90 on the season  . He’s almost as big a homer as Tommy was with a fraction of the credibility/cache.

Don't know the guy, don't care to be honest. Nobody can replace Mike on the spot, anyone will have to convince me over time. Mike deserves to retire and anyone coming after him deserves a fair shot, initial impression solid broadcasting voice.

Because it's true, and needs to be said often. Scal is probably top 5 in the league for team color commentators. There are some really bad ones out there, we just had a legend precede him that watched and called games the same way we do after three tall pour scotches in our living room.

I don’t think that would work. Radio broadcast has to be much more descriptive since listeners can’t see. It’s be annoying to have that much talking on a tv broadcast.

I listened to some Grande interviews in the last few months that made it sound like he might not prefer TV to radio, and especially given his long partnership with Max. So I don’t think we should assume that he got “passed over” for the TV job. The radio broadcast is a pretty good product, and it has to be to get and keep listeners. TV can kind of be whatever and honestly, we’ll watch. Some of us legally!

I say this as someone who likes Scal more than most people here (low bar alert), but maybe Grande don’t.
