Stop lumping them together lmao.

Lmao I realize now I shouldn't have lumped Jrue in there I didn't mean that, meant KP, Al and D White. Jrue had his first good offensive game in a while tonight. But what I was saying was throughout a lot of this year, those three guys have bailed this team out a lot, and they did a lot tonight. Tatum was fine, not great tonight (his passing was good), Jaylen was meh, worse but a lot of these wins this year are from KP, Derrick and Al kinda offsetting this team and the Jays' bad habits.

And yeah while Jaylen's definitely been worse, Tatum has been too passive this year I'm sorry. He's not close to a top 5 guy, especially these last few weeks.

Credit to JT, he had ZERO turnovers in this game.

You're right, it's pretty odd he got voted that when Giannis and Haliburton have absolutely been much better statistically than him so far this year.

Will he be fine in the playoffs? Yeah he's Tatum, he'll be ok. But that top 5 leap just hasn't happened. Like last week Grande posted a stat that said JT has a negative plus-minus in the prior 9 or so games, the first time I can ever remember this team being WORSE with him on the court. With Jaylen, before this past stretch it's something that's been used against him, and rightfully so.

Our supermax player hasn't been top 50, which is the bigger issue. Our best player hasn't been top 5, he's like at 8 or 9 right now? And that's definitely a problem too, considering he needs to be top 5 for this team to win a title.

And yet the Cs lead the East by 2 in the loss column, and Tatum had the top +/- in the entire league until White passed him tonight.

Porzingis, White and Holiday are all star calibre guys. That's why. On paper the Celtics have the best starting five in the NBA. Expectations should be high. Also if this doesn't work out there are not many ways for further improvement. We're all in baby!

Fun Fact: The referee who handed Jaylen's first career ejection was born 30 mins away from where Jaylen was born.

I don’t think we have lost a game yet where all 5 of Jrue, Derrick, JB, JT and KP played

Jammer wrote:At times I think that JB is just Dumb. But he actually did the Celtics a favor tonight by getting ejected, despite the two xtra Free Throws that he handed the Knicks. White and Holiday were superb, Tatum was Tatum, and Porzingis was Porzingis. On a night when only Al Horford and Kornet contributed from the bench, the Celtics were lucky to come away with a win. Would luv to see Brown average closer to the 13 shots he took tonight instead of the 18.7 shots per game he was averaging.

An alternative perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+29.5 Derrick White 32 minutes

+22 Jayson Tatum 39 minutes
+21.5 Jrue Holiday 35 minutes
+19.5 Al Horford 27 minutes
+17.5 Kristaps Porzingis 29 minutes

+10 Jaylen Brown 27 minutes
+5 Payton Pritchard 18 minutes
+4.5 Luke Kornet 11 minutes

-1 Sam Hauser 21 minutes

Team Total = 128.5

What are you on about? Jaylen was playing a good game with an efficient 17 points on 7-13 (2-5) shooting, 4 assists and 2 turnovers and was moving the ball well. What does the guy have to do to not get sh*t on every game.

Your alternate perspective also seems completely random and makes no sense with an assist or a block being half as valuable as a rebound

I was shocked to see JB was 1/5 from the field when I checked the stats at the end of the first quarter. Usually when he shoots that poorly it drives me nuts because he's hijacking the offense to force up terrible attempts. Here, everything was in the flow of the offense which is why it didn't feel like he took that many shots. He eventually got in a rythm and went 6/8 the rest of the way.

One of his better passing games as well despite the assist number not being that high. That's progress towards becoming the player the Celtics need him to be this season.

Porzingis is back like he never left. White is awesome. Tatum, Horford and Holiday did their job well and with minimal fuss. What's not to like ?

some thoughts:

1) Team is better when Jaylen is less. Solidifies my stance that I still believe team is better with a return from Jaylen than Jaylen (stronger bench and a great role player 5th starter)

2) Love seeing Jaylen that worked up. WHen he has emotion he is a better player

3) KP LOVES this team. LOVES it.

4) Tatum/KP pick and roll is absolutely LETHAL

And wasn't that the game Embiid was out of bounds and we lost a game tying possession?

Yes.

But the Cs didn't deserve to win that game.
