Walsh has come crashing back down to earth, and seems to be in Joe's doghouse. And while I like Queta and his development, today you could see how having a semi-capable big on offense who could playmake even a little bit would have made a huge difference.

Celtics need a 6'8" versatile wing who can do everything well.

Why they play so much zone?

It makes the opposing team settle for 3s.

Unfortunately for the Celtics, the Blazers were making their 3s in crunch time.

Yeah the Blazers shot well so give them credit for making those open semi-contested 3's, but we play more zone now because we usually have at least 2-3 mediocre to crap defenders on the floor at all times lol. No more five switchable defenders.

There was no answer for Clingan under the basket (8-10 FG). On his two 3 point plays I thought that the Celtics should have wrapped him up before he had control because once he had the ball a putback was automatic. That's more veteran thinking, a less experienced player would try to defend and give them a full bucket & a free throw instead of just 2 free throws. He got 5 points out of the two 3 point plays versus 3-4 or possibly 2-4 if they had wrapped him up. They lost by 6 because they were chasing. That flagrant foul on Jaylen for the elbow to Avdija's face looked to me like Avdija stuck his head too close, I would never have pulled a Scott Foster and given anyone a flagrant for that. That's more like looking at the result than what actually happened. Thought that was a 100% BS flagrant, and I'd still feel that way if Avdija lost 6 of his teeth on the play.

That's why there's a need for Brad to make a move.

I mean all of us here know the Celtics are less talented this season.

What Brad can't do is overvalue draft picks.

If the Cs need to send a pick or two to improve the team, do it!

Queta & Garza both had 5, and then Brown gets his 5th.

It really limits what plays the Coaches can call.

THIS IS SO TRUE. DAMN wish EVERY Celtic understands this. You get called for a BS foul early, the refs start looking at you, call more, pretty soon, you're in foul trouble. I hate wrap-up fouls on breakaways early in a game because they often lead to tighter calling against your team.

If there's one thing Brad Stevens has NEVER done, it's overvalue draft picks.

He has ran ops for five drafts and in that time he's made TWO first round picks, signed ONE second round pick, and traded firsts in 2021, 22, 23, 24, 29 and a swap to SAS in 2028... By comparison, Ainge's first five drafts he made SEVEN first round picks (Banks, Perk, AlJeff, Delonte, TA, Gerald Green, Rondo), signed SEVEN second round picks (Hunter, Reed, Gomes, Greene, Powe, Baby, Pruitt) and only traded firsts in two special circumstances: 06 (to swap LaFrentz for Theo Ratliff's expiring) and 07 (for Ray Allen)

no exec in the NBA moves firsts like Brad does, lol, so I wouldn't worry about thinking Brad is clinging to his draft picks, lol

I hope you're right because a lot of doors will open if Brad is open to moving a pick or picks.

What an awful game. Not enough guys playing well.

And zone when Blazers were actually making threes was a bad decision by Joe as well.

But games like these will happen. This is a team that is lacking quality. They win with grit and heart.

In these west games our record will suffer...

Typical bad night for this version of the Celtics. Secondary scorers not good enough, 3's not falling enough, bigs not good enough and too many Jaylen turnovers.

It's at least somewhat encouraging that the Celtics had a chance to win on an off night.

The two turnovers between White and Brown at the end of the game were super disappointing. That's something that needs to get cleaned up because we need those two executing at a high level when Tatum comes back. The second one I kind of understand as the two read the play differently. The first one was just piss poor execution.

JB was on fire, I think Joe sat him way too long in the second half of the game......Whites blunders stung and pretty much buried the C's along with playing with no Big in the last minute. Just sloppy all around from Coach all the way down. Hugo was special along with JB, rest were meh! On to the Jazzzzzzz

Hauser has at this point of the season earned some DNPs but Joe has given him a long leash as he's starting his 4 year contract extension. It's the ugly truth.

Celtics have just have less of a margin this year

That's one of those fascinatingly on the nose metrics lol.

I wish I didn’t watch this one again, but I did. Worse than I remember! Pritchard was so bad on D it’s not even funny! Didn’t show up on either end and his defense was so bad it boggles the mind! White was bad many times too, though he had some good moments. Hugo, had bad moments himself, but he’s a rookie.

You know what, this was ridiculous! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! I can’t believe I missed so many bumble squawks! Did we try? Yikes!

The Simons experience in Boston has been over for about a month. Brad can't get any takers at the moment. In a game where White and Pritchard struggled, this was a game for Simons to step up. It was also a home coming game and he only played 19 minutes.

This team has a very little chance to win games anytime they shoot below 30% from 3. That was the case in this game.

13 for 44 on 3s and getting outrebounded by 8 was the difference in the game. We had no answer for Clingan. Not to mention the calls by refs. I've never seen a game where one team was called for so many fouls while setting picks. The refs targeted the Celtics in this game.
