It will be a shame if this team squeaks into the playoffs this year.

They desperately need a top 5 pick this year.

Apparently. Not asking you to memorize my takes here, but I have been explaining in full detail every aspect of why this was likely going to happen for months now. It comes to pass nearly exactly like what I said, for the exact reasons I put forth, and you are like, "Well, that's not *really* being right."

Tell yourself whatever you want. I nailed this to the wall, and the only part that sort of surprises me is that Ainge didn't at least hold on for a possible shot at adding Gasol with a sign-and-trade to LA as a backup plan.

Whatever... my hope now is to continue the liquidation process and go for a top 5 pick this summer.

Enjoy the smug, condescending victory lap. We can disagree without you making it personal. Don't do it again.

You deserve credit for getting it right but that doesn't mean it was inevitable.

I apologize if this has been discussed in this thread..

How has Rondo looked on defense this year?

Mavs fans talking about perimeter D push but I swear I read something regarding advanced metrics and Rondo's defensive deterioration over the years.

Thanks.

There is A LOT of meat there, and with Sullinger clearly being superior to Bass and Wright filling a role that Bass simply can't, the writing is definitely on the wall for a trade.

He'll probably get dealt to a team like Memphis or Houston, and it will be good for him. He deserves to be on a contender. Class act.

Yeah I edited this in to:

So if the C's are deadset on KO being a center (until KO vs Sully is settled), they have a pretty good potential synergy going with the Sully/Zeller and Wright/KO lineups. Should mix well.

I like it a lot for this year. Worth Rondo? No, not really, but it'll be nice to see some defense in the front court 48 MPG instead of 25-30 depending on how often Zeller got to play.

Agreed. That's why I'm not so sure Ainge will simply flip Wright elsewhere at the deadline. I think he has a place here for the foreseeable future.

Oh no doubt. I think there's no shot at Wright being flipped unless we are getting a good deal. He's relatively cheap, can block shots better than any player we've had here for years, and he seems pretty low maintenance in terms of touches/minutes, though, that may have been because he was playing for a contender for a few years. He's the kind of the player Ainge has been looking for years, and I've been wanting for years. I never wanted that kind of player for Rondo, though, hahaha. Oh well. It's done, and I think it'll be fun at times.

There's no way we keep all these picks. We have to trade some of these at some point.

Ainge butt raped Donnie. Jameer is almost as good as Rondo, plus you get a solid defender with a sweet stroke, a bonafide mid-tier big man, and a couple of picks to ice the cake. Screw you guys.

When he is engaged defensively, he is still a stopper, and having Chandler behind him in Dallas will allow him to gamble in the passing lanes more like he did when KG was here. He'll do great for Dallas defensively.

Well, it looks like Caveman was right and we are looking to the tank for our salvation.

That's the only angle that makes this make sense.

Thanks, I will.

Just as I enjoyed letting people know that Al Jefferson and crap for KG was a great trade, and that we completely ripped off the Nets for a trio of washed-up players.

Still a good team defender but not a great on-ball guy anymore.

I have a hunch that Ainge pulled the trigger so early in the season on this trade was to be able to flip Wright later at the deadline.

You're much more optimistic than most of the Celtic fans here.

Ainge isn't done yet, Green probably already has his house on the market.

Perhaps, but for what, though? He isn't going to get anything of great value for Wright. I don't think he is just going to trade him for a second-round pick. Maybe a contender gives a late first, but I doubt that.

Forget the playoffs. We will trade Green and bass to rebuild.

Maybe but the word is that Green isn't available. There is an element to this that is that this team has seen enough of Smart and of Rondo in Stevens' offense to know which way they are going. I don't know where Green fits into all this but I just felt Rondo was gone the minute this team drafted Smart. I have tried to convince myself of something else but it just didn't make sense.

we need a shooter. too bad young is hurt and smart is hurt because their opportunity just arrived. one thing I think is clear, danny and brad want to build a better defensive team than we had
