I had a bad feeling he was promoting himself hard over the offseason for that extension. Deadline has passed and the guy looks like the exact same player. Good defensive specialist, bench guy who can make some big plays, but not a starter and a liability on offense.

Yes. He is absolutely heavier than opening night. It’s very noticeable.

More of the same please...

Watch on YouTube

Funny how even after showing some restraint with chucking threes, he still ended up with 12 FGAs, 2nd most on the team hehe. But his floor game last night was much better. He was controlled, kept it simple, and got into a PnR groove with Theis for that 2nd unit. He was the same tenacious, ferocious self on defense. And he secured the win with that offensive rebound at the end.

For all the talk about how horrible Marcus has been and how great Jalen Brown has been.... their FG% and 3pt% are equally terrible.

Probably best to wait and see where we are after 30 games.

Actually not quite equally terrible: Brown with a .495 TS% to Smart's .423, and Jaylen at .333 from the 3 to Smart's .304. But Smart also has more great plays to balance out his bad ones.

Yep--he looks pretty much back to where he was. Unfortunate. The other guy to keep an eye on on that front seems to be Baynes. He's been very effective, but you can also see something of a growing paunch.

Nope same Marcus and I am fine trading him. 20 million a year for Marcus!!!??? HELL NO. Even 15 is steep for him. I'd rather pay Rozier and Baynes after the season and get something back for Marcus. Rozier can actually score a bucket and is pretty good defensively himself. Plus Semi can play D and hit the 3. Next year

Kyrie / Rozier
Brown / Semi
Hayward / Morris
Tatum / Theis
Horford / Baynes

Plus hopefully the LAL pick. Plenty of depth. We wouldn't miss Smart at all.

Good point! We talk a lot about Rozier being a good defender and the debate becomes is he better enough offensively to make up for the edge Smart has on him. If Smart is never going to be more than a bench player then having a Rozier that can come in, not fall off a cliff offensively like Smart often does, and guard 1’s and 2’s then Smart is covered there. If Semi can come in depending on the matchup and do it for 3’s and 4’s, probably better than Smart because of his size and length, then that’s another part of the equation we aren’t really talking much about when it comes to replacing Marcus.

Love the Brown, Rozier, Smart combo beside Kyrie. You have good defenders surrounding him to take the pressure off.

Smart's offense was decent last couple games. Didn't try too much. Which is what he should have accepted by now. Rozier on the other hand, stunk last night. Outside of the 4rth quarter he couldn't put a kidney bean through the hoop if he was operating a cherry picker. And even his 4rth quarter fast break layup after the 2 three pointers was suspect as hell. It bounced in but clanged off the rim like 2 to 3 times before falling. That finger roll of his last night was just sickening to watch.

Morris is best at PF with only spot minutes in certain situations against postup SFs (Lebron)
Semi is more of a SF than a SG imo.

Got this feeling that we end up getting the number 2 pick and draft Porter as Bagley goes number 1.

Kyrie/Rozier
Hayward/Brown
Porter/Semi
Tatum/Morris
Horford/Baynes/Theis

Rather have Ayton Doncic or Bamba

I like Doncic alot, but I think Porter has a much higher floor than Doncic. Ayton could be generational, or could be a bum....not decided on him.

32/29/56 so far. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say nobody is nba history has shot that poor on 12 shots a game. Maybe with Hayward he would shoot less but some of those shots need to go away. This year we are so thin we may need a little more from Smart at times. Next year with assuming a healthy Hayward and the J's getting better there is no place for 12 shots a game from Smart. I have a feeling he wont be here but if he is Brad needs to reel him in at some point. I still like him just too much of a chuckster. Someone said it somewhere i saw, he should try and be Tony Allen but he thinks he's Ray Allen.
