D Johnson easy, because he would FIT in seamlessly.

Also out of respect for his tenure. Another year or so, D White and Jrue will qualify and may/could/should overtake him.

DJ couldn't shoot either lol. I think either would improve their shot in today's game though. Highly competitive players who were very good with the ball (although Rondo more naturally a PG and DJ evolved into one). I'll give the defensive edge to DJ though for sure. Rondo was good, but became more reputation than results at times, whereas DJ was making Magic look so bad he got the Tragic Johnson name, and was brought in specifically to stop the Boston Strangler Andrew Toney. In the 78 Finals loss he blocked 7 shots in one game as a guard, but he also missed all 14 of his shots that game (part of the reason I can't put his shooting over Rondo).

Cousy couldn't shoot either (different era partly to blame), but he'd have that group running. For a mix of defense, pg duties, and shooting I think you could make a case for White if we win another title (although it seems weird because he won't have the career accolades of even a Rondo). Overall though, I'm not sure where you make the change, but idk if that first 4 mentioned makes sense positionally. There's no clear cut shooting guard in those 4 and we'd get killed on the perimeter with a lack of quickness. I'm guessing Tatum plays the 2 and feasts offensively against his matchup, but it's not like you're going Tatum iso every trip when you have Bird and KG up front as well.

John Havlicek. I know he isn't technically a point guard but he offers better shooting and defense than any of the traditional point guard options (Cousy, Jojo White, Dennis Johnson, Rajon Rondo, etc.) and I'd rather have the ball in Bird's hands than any of theirs anyway. Four guys that can all shoot, pass, drive and switch defensively around the GOAT (Bill Russell) sounds pretty good to me.

It's difficult to watch how hard the league are manufacturing the in-season tournament product. If the concept makes sense (debateable) and the games themselves are played in a meaningful way (some) then everything else will follow. The concerted branding exercise feels back to front to me.

Then again the new 'city edition' jerseys were also released/leaked, so asking for a clear value proposition for some of these decisions might be asking too much. The prospect of the team playing on that court wearing this...

I don’t mind the court. The omission of the parquet last year was bad but we learned it wasn’t the team’s call and at least this year the pattern is there (albeit in green). The jerseys are something I’d expect for a YMCA Little Dribblers League. The combo of those jerseys on that court for the IST is extra yucky.
