As for Jordan Walsh, why did he not play at all in the 2nd half? And why didn't anyone miss him?

Minott looks like a player who can do everything well except shoot. Same for Hugo, who did a creditable job of running the point in the second half. Walsh is a player who does almost nothing well and can't shoot either. Yeah yeah he's still young, but I haven't seen significant improvement since his rookie year. Davison, who was cut, improved twice as much as Walsh.

I saw somewhere that Walsh had an oblique strain so they rested him. So that answers the first question. The rest, yeah he needs to break out or he’s gonna get passed by. It’s in there still, I think, but at some point the possible ceiling may not be worth the investment to get there. If Brad can get a cheap backup rebounder to add to the mix, Jordan could be in trouble. Otherwise might as well keep him around.

I think the Cs will not be able to keep all of them long term.

Maybe it will be Baylor or Hugo, but not both.

Same with Walsh and Mynot.
But unlike Baylor and Hugo, Walsh is not a 1st round pick, so the Cs might be able to extend him on another cheap deal.

Queta and Garza are still under contract for 1 more year after this season.
That leaves only Tillman as the expiring big.
Will Tillman re-sign for another cheap contract if he plays well this season?

Boucher could just be passing through in Boston as he's an UFA after this season.
Guess it will depend on how well he plays for the Cs and will another team overpay for his services.

As for Simons, that's the biggest question mark this season.
If the Cs keep winning, will the Cs keep him the whole season?

Minot looked intriguing in game 1, he's more athletic than i thought, and still young turning only 23 in November. Add him to the Scheierman/Gonzalez/Walsh young wing minutes competition.

Minott is the most athletic player on the team. Said that about a month ago. If he can improve his 3, he will be a really interesting player. Hugo and Minott were all over the place in this game, they were making a lot of good defensive plays.

It would be Minott and González for me, in that order. Walsh is on a Make-it-or-Break-it tour.

You think Brown and White sit, for this next Game?
We know what they can do. Might as well see, what we got out of the other Guys.

They will definitely sit at least 1 preseason game - maybe 2.

Yep. From that game, it looks like Minott and Hugo are the two immediate rotation players from that group. Scheierman continues to struggle, but he's more of a guard backup at this point.

bfchs123 wrote:Solid first showing

- Brown and White picked up where they left off and I think are going to have big seasons (possibly both all-stars if things fall right)
- Hauser was his usual self, hoping he takes the next step and starts creating a bit more for himself rather than strictly spot-up 3 shooter
- Boucher I think will be a good contributor. Much more athletic than I expected, high motor, etc.
- Idk everyone tried to tell me Xman was back. He looked better than last year certainly but not sure he is someone we can count on. 5 fouls, -2 in a blowout. Hope I'm wrong
- Liked both of the new MIN guys, I think both will be rotation players (though closer to #8-10). Intrigued by Garza and think he'll get good opportunities given dearth of bigs
- Hugo could be interesting in some spot minutes but he is still very raw; probably the most interesting prospect though
- Scheierman needs to improve his shooting a lot. You don't really see a lot of elite shooters with his form. Was hoping he could take Hauser's role long-term but he is a longg way from that
- No one else really stood out, surprised in a pre-season game missing a lot of key rotation players that Amari got no burn. Think he is g-league all year at this point
It really seems he will give them good minutes this season. Liked all the free throws.

Of Baylor, Hugo, Walsh, Minott, as prospects and ability to contribute in 26/27 I’d list them like this
Minott
Hugo
Walsh
Scheierman

I don’t really think Scheierman has much upside. He might prove me wrong. He is 3.5 years older than Walsh if you can believe that. He is closer in age to Pritchard.

Yeah, if Cs are keeping Sam then only 2 out of the 4 you mentioned are most likely making the 26-27 roster.

Hugo is a solid double of a draft pick
Scheierman is an attempted bunt single dribbling down the 3rd base line. Will it stay fair or roll foul? Can't say I care much

I think Scheierman has great upside if he can get his shooting together and otherwise clean up his game. He could be essentially a broke man's Luka. I'm just not sure he's going to get there.

I think Hugo's more likely to end up the better player, but it will be interesting to see if the C's coaching staff can help Minott with his shot.

Wasn't Mazulla the coach who was trying to help Romeo Langford improve his shot by using ping pong paddles or something along those lines? I hope they don't try the same technique with Minott, or else he may be joining Langford in the French A league.

There's still a lot of offensive talent on this team. A top 10 offense doesn't seem unreasonable.

Simons and Pritchard rested last game. I wonder if this game Brown and White rest.

We did see a recent clip that the team shared on social media from training camp where Simons and Pritchard both scrimmaged with the green (1st team) jersey on. Maybe this game they get more reps playing together. While at the same time we can possibly see one of them emerge as the one who should be a starter..

Don't want to base too much off just 1 preseason game, though..

Langford's 3 FG% in each of his seasons in Boston:

Year 1: 18.5%
Year 2: 27.8%
Year 3: 34.9%

That's very good incremental improvement.

Going off that trajectory, he probably would have been up over 36% if he stayed in Boston.
