right, but you also have to be careful because you don't want to trade a Klay Thompson as part of a package for Kevin Love either. There's a fine line.

You don't really seem to like Butler. Why?

i just get concerned that people overrate him a bit...Personally, I think he has peaked. like we have seen the best of Jimmy Buckets... That's not a bad thing as I still believe he has 4-5 really productive years ahead, and probably a 2-3 more all-star appearances..but he isn't a superstar. he's a very solid #2 or #3 on a title team. So I'm all for trading for him if it means Durant/Horford will follow....But if we're trading for Jimmy Butler and only signing a guy like Horford and run out a team of IT-Butler-Crowder-Olynyk-Horford then we're not a contender

Good comp. for impact might be Latrell Sprewell, who was a legit impact guy for several years, peaking with the Wolves' WCF run with Cassell and KG. Not a guy I'd hesitate to bring into the fold by any means, but an overpay is the worst thing you can do. Hell, Bradley/Sullinger/future '1st is probably enough.

2. 199 combinations, 19.9% chance

Nice to see the odds.. We forget that even the worst team haas a 75% chance of not picking 1st.

I take a flyer on Maker. Nothing to lose really. I can't imagine he's a top pick of any sort. Use the Clippers pick on him.

I wonder if Maker will be there at 16. A real shame that Dallas has won 4 in a row. That was the 12th pick just last week.

Thon Maker Declares for the NBA Draft. I hope the NBA allows him to . He wouldn't be there at 16. He is a top 5, top 10 pick . His too talented to be passed up early in the draft .

No chance, he's shown nothing other then dominating undersized high school talent. he's an energy big at the moment. Absolutely there at 16.

We shall see. I hope the Celtics get him if he still there at 16. He can be a good shot blocker, plus rim protector .

Mavs pick (assuming we keep it) I'm hoping that a Rabb, Luwawu, Stone, Anunoby (if he was declaring) drops...

Our pick? I probably gamble on Thon

Looks like neither Brooklyn nor Phoenix plan on winning another game this season.

Dear Phoenix, At least win one of your last 3 (@NO, vs. SAC, vs. LAC). Now if Brooklyn wins another game or if the coin/lottery balls don't go our way, then that's that. We can't thank you enough for giving us our two best PGs this past decade, but please do us this last one favor -- WIN ONE.

P.S. We can swap Young for Booker if that's all it takes to get this request done.

I'd be willing to take a shot on Maker with either the Dallas pick or our own. Someone is going to reach for him big time because of the size and hype and given our pick stash I'd be happy to be that team. Sure he could be Fab Melo 2.0, but Danny can afford to, and frankly HAS to, take some shots in the draft on guys who are boom or bust.

Maker is probably 2-4 years away from having a real impact apparently, but that fits with our timeline anyway because we can't roster all our picks anyway. We won't have a problem stashing him in the d-league for 2 years while we chase wins.

Ideally I'd have the C's take BPA with the Nets pick, luck into a guy like Luwawu/Skal/Stone/Valentine with the Dallas pick and then take a flyer on Maker in the 20s.

I'd settle for BPA with the Nets pick, Maker with Dallas and then BPA with our pick of the guys above who fall that far (if any do, if not then maybe Sabonis/Zubac/Zizic).

Bottom line though, this is GREAT for the Celtics. Either we can take a punt on the kid either in the teens or 20s, or another team does and that just pushes a better player into our next draft slot (or increases the likelihood we get the guy we want).

We could get lucky with the Suns though because they have a game against NOP left that they might actually win, plus LAC for the last game of the season and maybe they rest everyone.

Yeah. I haven't heard much good.Grizz is top 12 protected? They might miss the playoffs running out D Leaguer's.

Thon Maker sucks. There's a reason why he chose to play out of Canada, which was to minimize head-to-head match-ups against other elite prospects in the States. He hasn't fared well in the Nike tournaments he's played in. If Danny uses a 1st round pick on him, I will be pretty disappointed. A 2nd rounder would be ideal - draft him, then tell him to play overseas for a few years.

Are teams just missing shots, or has Dallas been playing better defense lately?

I'm terified about the Grizzlies, they looked like a lock for the 5th seed a week ago, now they're only 2 games ahead of Dallas. Their remaining schedule looks like:

vs Chicago 5 april (50/50 odds) chicago desperate team

@ Dallas 8 april (50/50 odds) dallas desperate team
vs GSW 9 april (b2b) sure loss

@ LAC 12 april (if clippers are resting they have a chance)
vs GSW 13 april (b2b) sure loss .... (Unless GSW already broke the record and resting guys)

I am leaning towards thinking Thon Maker is maybe mid to late second round material based on what I have seen, but I don't know how recent the videos I have seen were put together, or how much work he has put in since then.

Hard worker is always a good thing to here, and you can't coach a guy to make him 7 feet and athletic.

From what I have seen he has no natural basketball instincts other than to run the floor and be tall.

The best thing for him may be to be forced to play a season in college. Looks like he should be able to declare for the draft, but he needs to play against better competition to crack the first round.

There is about two and a half months for him to prove to NBA GM's that he is ready to play in the NBA.

I hold out hope for 3rd slot or tied for 3rd slot. I don't think the Nets will win another game. As for the Suns, they have games left against the Kings and NO.

NO is tanking and just as horrible. The Kings lose their pick if it falls outside top 10. They are currently only 1.5 games out of the 10th slot. Playing with fire.

In other words, the Suns may be playing 2 games against teams that want to lose as bad as they do.
