Read up, I was talking about working Horford into the Jimmy Butler trade.. there are other pieces I’d be glad to take back from Miami, too.. Winslow, Olynyk..

Pretty sure we can't take on that much salary. If Horford is an S&T, it gets complicated and will have to be combined with the Kemba and Rozier S&Ts. Rozier becomes BYC when that happens. We won't have enough outgoing salary without gutting the roster.

Did the Rozier sign and trade do anything for us capwise? It looks like it was just a favor to him.. we signed Rozier into cap space and took back more money from Charlotte into the rest of our cap space?

Yeah we used up our cap space with that trade. Don't have Horford cap hold anymore to use in a S&T.
If we make Horford an S&T, we operate over the cap. Rozier S&T triggers BYC.

Just got up and saw that we are still thin at the center position. Can anybody update me on which tools do we have now to get a center? Is it a trade exception and the MLE? I am just confused.

Also, what happened to Kanter?

Damn, Al. Why the Sixers? I didn´t expect it. Sixers are a hated team to Celtics franchise...why go there?

Am I the only one who thinks Hayward should be moved?

If the three-team trade involving Nets pushed through, we would've gotten the MLE.
When that died and we couldn't turn Horford into a S&T, it would become a double S&T between Charlotte and Boston. No MLE.

Nothing is final though until the 6th.

Thanks for clarifying. Makes more sense why we missed on some of the bigs.

Nothing final yet, but right now it's just the room exception ($4.76M) and veteran's minimum. And we can get Theis back.

No word on Kanter yet.

Yes, budd, cause it's a pretty bad time to move him even if we wanted. We'll get no value back, we might have to surrender a pick and if he plays well, we'll be screwed even further.

I'm really interested to see the parameters of this s/t it all just seems so confusing, but I'm still drinking.

Yeah it's certainly not the time for this

Do Brooklyn or Philly have similar considerations, in which they'd preserve exceptions by turning Irving or Horford into S&Ts? Conversely, does either team have a hard cap reason not to do so?

(Separately, of course, if we help facilitate the Butler deal, Philly would have to take Horford on an S&T to help us do it.)

Sadly, even if we get the full MLE, there isn't much left on the market. Unless we're talking Kanter.... So yea, we will have some trouble finding quality bigs at this point. Would've been nice if we kept Baynes and managed to somehow find another guy who can give us 20-25 mins a game at PF/C spot.

Not entirely sure about Philly, but Nets still wouldn't have their exceptions. They operated under-the-cap even with the DLo S&T just as we're doing now with Rozier S&T to Charlotte.

Any team that receives an S&Td player would be hard-capped. But Nets wouldn't be close to the tax apron. Not sure about Philly.

They would be awfully close to the apron. Not sure how they do this while still filling out the rest of their roster.

Sounds like Rozier’s salary number works if it’s into cap space and out for Kemba.. not clear on how it works if it’s Kyrie to Brooklyn, Rozier to Charlotte, Kemba to Boston.. both Kyrie and Rozier would be BYC, so we’d be dealing 20+9 outgoing, to teams taking back 30 and 18, and Kemba would count as 16 outgoing to Charlotte and 32 incoming to us.. so it would work.. And we’d keep the full MLE and temporary Bird rights for Morris and Horford..

The Horford deal currently depends on the Butler deal getting done first, I guess, although it doesn’t have to..

If we sign and trade him at 25 million, there’s no BYC because he’s getting less money than he did last year - Butler will be 19 million outgoing/incoming for Philly, and Richardson 10 million, which is why Miami has to send out more players to a third team to match Butler’s incoming 32 million.. Horford would effectively be into cap space for the Sixers, I think - but I think we could take back the rest of the salary from Miami to facilitate a deal.

All of that would depend, though, on getting Kyrie and the Nets to play ball, even if they’re helping out two division rivals and two conference rivals..

Holy **** some of you guys have been here for a long time. I'm in a different time zone so I stayed up late for the 6pm EST start and then slept for 8 hours, woke up and this thread is still going strong. Get some sleep people.
