Does Tatum sign with the Celtics when this contract is up?

It's a good sign that this has happened early in his career, some stars or even superstars like Lebron or KD need a lot of years to mature mentally and get that killer instinct.
His jump shot has become more reliable.

He added the side step 3 to his game.

These are added skills/improvements to his skills.

His ball handling skills have improved.

Other than that, I agree. He's the same player. The game has slowed down for him, his iq is increasing. And he's getting stronger.

People talk about players needing all around game these days, passing etc to truly be elite and MVP calibur.

Box score and advanced statistics are too sexy these days. None of that **** matters if you are an unguardable scorer. Tatum is no MJ and he will never be in the same stratosphere as a scorer, however, Bird, LeBron etc all had better overall games than Jordan. He was so deadly as a scorer that he impacted the game so much just by scoring, perimeter D, and a bit of passing.

I subscribe to the old school of thought that being a lethal 1v1 scorer is the most important part of being a good player. If Tatum can become a 30ppg guy on 50% shooting, with his elite D...it doesn't matter if he isn't great at creating for others. That will be someone else's job.

Jayson Tatum envisioned a plan more than a year ago. He's been executing that plan ever since. Only coronavirus can stop him now.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/beatsow28751821/ten-nba-things-like-including-jayson-tatum-star-leap

Lowe isn't really one for hyperbole, this is super exciting.

When was the last time this happened -- a player in the middle of the season making The Leap, everyone digesting the revelation together and knowing it is real and lasting? Perhaps Kawhi Leonard toward the start of 2016-17?

Tatum always had the pieces. Those pieces rarely coalesced on the same nights -- until the past five-plus weeks, starting almost to the day Tatum made the All-Star team. My pet theory is that Tatum was pressing about All-Star, and making it helped him settle into a groove

This Tatum can be a top-five player in the NBA someday -- maybe soon. That provides Boston a path to title contention, perhaps now and definitely later. It gives this season's team something every contender requires: a clear hierarchy. There can be no arguments about who should have the ball late.

Tatum seized that responsibility in a way that felt organic. It's as if the rest of the Celtics were waiting for him to take it, maybe without even realizing. Everyone agreed, in the moment, that this is how it should be.

That is basketball magic. It rarely happens so naturally.

Eventually, he will manipulate defenses, and make the pass one or two steps further down the chain than they expect. He doesn't project as a mega-assist ballhandling fulcrum, but there is no reason he can't average five or six dimes per game at his apex. Other scoring wings with that sort of profile have proved capable of being the best players on title teams.

All this is awesome but I am impressed how rarely Kemba's absence is mentioned (by the media) in the context of the TATSPLOSION

I mean if we still had that **** Kyrie Irving and he were out then people would say "Tatum's picked up his scoring in Kyrie's absence" right? But it's like do people even know Kemba Walker's a Celtic yet?

Damn he's almost as big as Zion with that armor on.

How did we not know he was going to turn into the GOAT after we saw this? I guess Danny did.

He's going to draw so many fouls he'll need to wear that armour in the playoffs.

The 50 from 3 is the only thing he won't maintain, and I see no reason he can't be in the 40-42% range. I'm 33, live with my girlfriend, work 50 hours or so a week, have somewhat of a life...and yet I'm reading and watching all this Tatum content and his superstar turn like I'm 14 again with Pierce lol.

I'm enjoying this season so much so looking ahead to next year seems silly, but I think he's a 27/7/4 guy next season on 46/40/85ish splits.

I can't believe people didn't pay this much attention when Chris Babb, Chris Johnson, and Abdel Nader were making waves with the Celtics.

Also, FIRE DANNY.
