This is so hard for me to look at. when I see something like this, I can't but think "what if"?

what if Len Bias did not die?

what would their achievement been then??

*side note. I was there in NYC at the draft and stood 15ft from Len Bias right after he was drafted. 2 days later .....

Yeah. Reggie Lewis' untimely demise, also, several years after that.
Lewis blocked Michael Jordan, 3 times in one game.

please stop..no more please ..can't take much more.. :noway:

I should probably stop smoking my lunch. I just read your comment as:

Reggie Lewis' untimely demise, also, several years after that Lewis blocked Michael Jordan, 3 times in one game.

 That would have been quite a feat.

It's a lot different if the person who is "screaming" at you has been to the top of the mountain. I'm not saying to get someone from the Joe Gibbs school of being a hardass but at the same time, you need someone to counterbalance the extreme opposite of being a hardass in Stevens. Stevens lets Smart get away with everything. He let Kyrie and Rozier divide a title contender. Terry Rozier was allowed to become just as big of a problem as Kyrie and was also allowed to believe he should have started over Kyrie while he was here. Some examples that could have been fixed by a coaching staff with experience handling title contenders. Often times you bring in an ex player to bridge the communication. But the Celtics seem to prefer coaches who coach 14-16 teams in the mid majors to join this staff. It just really doesn't make a ton of sense to have a staff like this. It doesn't reflect the true talent of the roster. Tatum and Brown will never win here at this rate. 3 ECF's in 4 years its now time to **** or get off the pot.

The ECF finals mean nothing....the teams window just now started. If they fail now, moving forward you can have a legitimate gripe but over achieving and reaching an ECF and then losing to teams for the most part who were clearly better isn’t “not getting over the hump”.

This year was supposed to be a bridge year- at best our ceiling was an ECF and then we lose. that’s exactly what happened. The IT team was a farce and the kyrie injury team was fan fodder that never had a shot. If anyone looked at any of those teams as legitimate contenders, then the issue is them.

Kyrie and rozier were far from the only issues that season and Danny deserves blame also. The days of get in your face coaches are over- if anything we’ll see more and more players coaches as players have increasingly more power.

Bird was going to retire in 88 if Bias didn’t die so I don’t know how much more success the team would’ve had. Bias & Lewis would’ve been a deadly duo together but do they beat the Bulls ?

with the load that Bias would have taken off of Bird, I bet he plays a few more years with Bias and wins at least one ore title in 87 or maybe again in 88.

Heard some sport talk about moving Hayward. I guess sports talk likes to titillate. I don't see him going anywhere. He's now damaged and nobody would even want him that I can see. For any team that might be foolish enough to pull that trigger I'd send him so fast his feet wouldn't touch ground until he hit that idiot city. Through a combination of factors he has been a total and complete waste of time and money in Boston. It's clear he will never be as good as he was approaching again. He was always marginal, he's dropped considerably from that now. If Danny can hoodwink any team into pulling the trigger he should do it without hesitation.

I too have fantasized about how great Bias would have been in Boston and how that might have led to more championships. I've speculated about it, pointing to increased rest for McHale and Bird would have lessened the load on them, helped prevent injuries and lengthened their primes. But if you do any research you'll find that he was a straight up knucklehead who wasn't the person we thought he was and likely wouldn't have become the player that we all dreamed he'd be. His friends and family did their best to spin it as a tragic accident by a first time user but the truth always comes out and as journalists (remember those?) investigated it became clear that he was a very troubled guy.

read the article. some maybe even all of it may have been true. what we don't know is how would straight up good people from Bird-McHale-DJ etc may have a positive affect on Bias. Many young kids go off the track. doesn't mean they can't mature and get it right.

sadly we will never know.
