I think he has a ton of talent and I see a lot of Kobe-like moves in this game. His bag of tricks and athleticism are elite. IMO, what's stunting his growth is his decision-making (when to shoot, when to pass, etc.) and his inability to see that driving into crowds is the opposite of smart basketball. His assist-to-turnover ratio is shameful. For a 7th-year pro, especially one who prides himself in his intelligence, this is concerning.

Full disclosure: I soured on him when he didn't use his "platform" to denounce the antisemitic views of one of his musician buddies and Hélà's doubling down on his own ignorance. You have a voice, you have strong convictions, yet you let that go? Then your "platform" is a fraud.

This post is a good example of going way too far the other way. Celtics wouldn’t be a first round exit with any of those players instead of Jaylen, outside of maybe like Claxton lol.

I lot of it comes from the same people that wanted the Celtics to draft Kris Dunn, Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss etc. instead of Jaylen Brown, they never got over it. Wouldn't worry to much about it.

A ton of people wanted Josh Jackson or Fultz over Tatum. Give Ainge and the Celtics organization credit for picking Brown and Tatum.

He definitely should have Denounced that racist crap.

But as a Player, no one is Perfect. And again, he's the #2 Player, on the #1 Team.
I just don't see the "Hater" side?

Jaylen or Ingram were the only two I had any interest in. Ingram because everyone knew what he could be, and Jaylen because of the tools+horrid college system that suppressed his ability.

I knew they were all in on Tatum, but even the chance of Josh Jackson scared me lol.

Celtics couldn't go wrong with Ingram or Brown. Man if someone took Dunn and Josh Jackson things would be really ugly right now.

That’s because there really isn’t a “haters” side. It’s been manufactured by fan boys. You aren’t hating saying there’s areas of improvement in a players game or you’d trade them for a top 5 or mvp caliber guys.

You’ve stepped into the trap and been bamboozled.

As everyone should know, I am a big Tatum and Brown fan. Would love to see those two players play forever for the Celtics. I think I have been fair with both of those players.

In my opinion, Tatum could be a perennial Top 5 every year. Brown could be a perennial Top 20-25 every year (no shame in that). There are no perfect players. Tatum had a 9 turnover game this year. Brown has had some real stinkers this year. I do believe the Celtics can win championships with both.

Most of the people have been real fair in their judgement of both players. I have absolutely no problem with that. A few are always way over the top but that's their choice.

I personally am real happy to have both and really look forward to this year's playoffs.

There’s just no way that an actual Celtics fan would be rooting against Jaylen. To actually want to see him fail in becoming a top player- that’s just ridiculous. That’s what a hater is to me.

Someone who openly roots against the player from improving or getting to a certain point and would rather be correct than be wrong and have the Celtics flourish. That’s a hater. People may have differing opinions but 98% of those people are not “hating” on Jaylen.

The disconnect is any criticism for some is “hating”.

The fact you said "maybe" Claxton is simptomatic.
Imagine having Porz instead of JB playing Brooklyn. Series we won 4-0 but close close games.
Imagine NBA players being remembered not for great playoff performances and deep run in post season but for adv stats.
Porz Is playing with a player you said JB would never be like him, player buddy buddy with JT, and be one of the worst team in the league.
Fortunately celtics are driven by Stevens and not by you.

I agree with you on this. But if you read the forum a group of people including yourself seem to dislike him for whatever reason. I'm not talking about the trolls either. You explained your distaste before and I really don't think anything you say is baseless or unwarranted, expect for the obliviousness to why you would be called a hater. But really it's what makes the board interesting imo.

Would you still take Hayward over Brown? It's a new year I need to check in with you. Hapy New Year BTW.
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.

Never have I ever said I don’t like him. I’ve actually said the opposite that he’s a great representation of the franchise off the court and he’s everything you’d want in a franchise player just lacking the talent of a true franchise guy imo. So you saying I have distaste for him is 100% categorically false and either a horrible interpretation or lie by you. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. I always said how great of an individual he is and how great he is in terms of social justice initiatives and in the community.

You’ve said this hayward thing over and over I’m sure you have something a little more witty than that by now (I’d hope given it’s been 3 years and yeah hayward was better than your binkie at the time). I do give you credit for actually engaging in conversation tho instead of the typical passive aggressive sniping- So you are moving in the right direction looks like you may have hit puberty and those balls dropped. Kudos.

I mean I don’t expect much from someone who thought the bagley in my name was for Marvin bagley (real die hard Celtics fan there lol) but yes happy new year and congrats.

He definitely should have denounced that racist crap. [/quote]

Not racism.
ANTISEMITISM.

AND of course his tweet endorsing the blatant antisemites supporting another antisemite who thinks the earth is flat.

Shameful.
Disgraceful.
His platform & alleged intellect are indeed fraudulent.

And I do not like him as a player either.
Never have.
Loads of elite talent, but unlimited TOV machine & brain dead court sense AFTER 6 SEASONS!
PS That does NOT mean that I do not want him to play his best for the Boston Celtics.
PPS It DOES mean that I would trade him for big talent in a millisecond.

Brown is not a bright guy and I'm being nice. He is a very low BBIQ guy. So people shouldn't take what he says or does personally.

Tonight's game vs the Spurs, he had so many bad, low IQ plays that most players don't have in a week or month.

That being bad, his scoring has been improving every year. He puts in a lot of work to improve his game. Respect that about his game. He is having a legit all star type year. Overall, you have to really like Brown's improvements, year in and year out.

I believe you said you don't like Jaylen because of your disdain for his over the top fans on the board. That's all I meant by that but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Sorry I'm simply not old enough to have enjoyed the John Bagley era. I'm more of a Miracle Milt guy. But I can tell you were an old fellow by your very mature responses. Maybe we can find common ground and agree that John Bagley is pretty trash by any metric, despite any Magic Johnson comparison.
I apologize for the things I have said in the past.
