Compelling. Wouldn’t mind angling for Nurcic either.

That all NBA bid was a curse.

If his contract is $1 less than he’s entitled to then he will be disgruntled. Best to dodge it now unfortunately.

We’re going to have one player on a designated vet max and that’s it. There’s only so much cap and it’s dangerous to tie up 35% of it in him, full stop.

They’re not going to deal him, there are too many reasons they can manufacture to run it back. Tatum was hurt, Brogdon was hurt, Rob was sick.

Extending Brown and trading him next offseason is still the best trade position the team will get with him. I'd DEFINITELY deal Brogdon for a springy PF. Hopefully Gallo has given assurances he'll exercise his player option. I hope Grant has a decent sign and trade market. Get movers. Brad should be banned from trading 1st rounders this year.

So true.

And why would the Celtics want young inexperienced players for JB when the Celts are gunning for Banner 18?

If and only if there is that deal the Celts can't refuse and it's also what JB wants, Cs are going to trade JB for a veteran star player who's in his prime.

Lottery pick and young players only sets back the Celtics at this point in time.

I'd be happy with a deal that gives us a young player and lets us flip another asset for a guy who has less of a market than Jaylen. Like, you get Smith and 4, keep Jabari to develop and trade the 4 for Siakam..

Siakam is an expiring contract in 2024.

Giving up the #4 pick for an expiring contract is just too much.

Might as well keep the #4.

Not that they have the balls to trade for Beal because that would take touches away from Marcus or Siakam because he can't shoot 3s all that frequently but I'd like to see it.

Myles Turner + for Rob makes sense. Turner can shoot 3s and would fit in better on this team while Mazzulla is coaching it.

I've always thought that Pascal and JT would complement each other very well.

Pascal is a point-forward meaning he has the ability to handle the ball and create for others, something JB is totally incapable of doing. Pascal can take some of the load off of Smart and allow him to serve as a catch & shoot guy which is his forte.

But please if you do trade for Pascal, for the love of God, get a real PG. A real playmaker.
A guy that can set up Pascal & JT and not force them to create for themselves.

We make things hard

If i am trading jaylen its for a top 15-25 player

Jaylen for ja morant

Jaylen for lillard

Of course if a pick or so needed you do it

I think ja could be had, yea hes an idiot but young and talented. Fits a big need for a true PG.

Id think of jaylen for simons, sharpe and 3

Then take scoot henderson at 3

Trade #1... Brown for Siakam

Trade #2... Smart/Grant(S&T) to SAC for Huerter and Holmes

Waive Muscala

Trade Pritchard into someone's cap space

Sign 3 vet minimum players if you keep Champagnie or 4 if you don't

Sign the #35 pick to a dela that pays him no more than $1,841,602 in year 1.

White / Brogdon
Huerter
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam / Gallinari
RWilliams / Horford / Holmes / Kornet

Add in the 4 vet min players and the one rookie and we'd be below the "super tax" apron.

Looking ahead to '24-25 season, assuming Siakam took a max extension, we'd be $18.0M below the "super tax" with the following 9 players signed:

White / Brogdon
Huerter
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam
RWilliams / Horford / Holmes

For '25-26 we'd only have Smart/Huerter/RWilliams under contract with hopeful extensions for Tatum and Siakam.

Overall, I view this as a payroll feasible plan. The step down from Brown's supermax to Siakam's regular max would be huge.

That’s a bad trade for Smart. Two players that would get attacked in a playoffs series

I can't believe you're a Celtics fan. Grant Williams is worth more by himself than Huerter and Holmes, because Holmes is a negative, and you're adding in Smart who has very good value.

Again, Siakam does not have the value of Brown, regardless of on court fit or contract.

You’d probably want Miller or Scoot. I’m not sure there’s a big worth taking at 3.

Drafting Miller moves me one step further to fulfilling my dream of moving Tatum to SG.

I'm not totally convinced Miller isn't the SG in that lineup. At least early days.

Yea, it'd have to be Siakam/Poetl(s&t)/pick for Brown/Horford.
Smart for Huerter/2 picks- actually a fair trade and I feel as if the Kings wont need Huerter as they will sign Vezenkov and Murrray has been pretty good for them.
When it comes to a SG, I dunno who we'd take, but I would trade Rob Williams and a pick for a SG.
And yes, I dunno when it comes to Jaylen- first I'm not sure if you should pay him 300 mils. That's an insane amount of money and then I'm not sure how motivated he is to play for the C's.
Good assessment:

Well, i agree that smart is a catch and shoot guy, problem is, he bricks most of them, especially in the 4th lol.

Another trade would be Brown/Horford for Lavine/Derozan. This would force the C's to play small with Tatum at the 4. White/Lavine/Derozan/Tatum/center

I’m down with that if we can get a good shot blocking center like myles turner.

Return to Boston Celtics
