Compelling. Wouldn’t mind angling for Nurcic either.

They’re not going to deal him, there are too many reasons they can manufacture to run it back. Tatum was hurt, Brogdon was hurt, Rob was sick.

So true.
And why would the Celtics want young inexperienced players for JB when the Celts are gunning for Banner 18?
If and only if there is that deal the Celts can't refuse and it's also what JB wants, Cs are going to trade JB for a veteran star player who's in his prime.
Lottery pick and young players only sets back the Celtics at this point in time.

I'd be happy with a deal that gives us a young player and lets us flip another asset for a guy who has less of a market than Jaylen. Like, you get Smith and 4, keep Jabari to develop and trade the 4 for Siakam..

Waive Muscala
Trade Pritchard into someone's cap space
Sign 3 vet minimum players if you keep Champagnie or 4 if you don't
Sign the #35 pick to a dela that pays him no more than $1,841,602 in year 1.
White / Brogdon
Huerter
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam / Gallinari
RWilliams / Horford / Holmes / Kornet
Add in the 4 vet min players and the one rookie and we'd be below the "super tax" apron.
Looking ahead to '24-25 season, assuming Siakam took a max extension, we'd be $18.0M below the "super tax" with the following 9 players signed:
White / Brogdon
Huerter
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam
RWilliams / Horford / Holmes
For '25-26 we'd only have Smart/Huerter/RWilliams under contract with hopeful extensions for Tatum and Siakam.
Overall, I view this as a payroll feasible plan. The step down from Brown's supermax to Siakam's regular max would be huge.

You’d probably want Miller or Scoot. I’m not sure there’s a big worth taking at 3.
Drafting Miller moves me one step further to fulfilling my dream of moving Tatum to SG.

I can't believe you're a Celtics fan. Grant Williams is worth more by himself than Huerter and Holmes, because Holmes is a negative, and you're adding in Smart who has very good value.
Again, Siakam does not have the value of Brown, regardless of on court fit or contract.

Pascal is a point-forward meaning he has the ability to handle the ball and create for others, something JB is totally incapable of doing. Pascal can take some of the load off of Smart and allow him to serve as a catch & shoot guy which is his forte.
But please if you do trade for Pascal, for the love of God, get a real PG. A real playmaker.
A guy that can set up Pascal & JT and not force them to create for themselves.
