It’s also much harder for sports figures to dodge taxes compared to most other rich folks

Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach on Jaylen extension: “both sides remain confident that (a deal) can be struck soon.”

It’s crazy how much taxes we have to pay in the US & there are always people demanding we pay more… Sorry Bernie, people are paying their fair share, if not more…

Are you making 40m+ per year? Then why tf are you crying?

Not crying, just stating that a lot of people a paying a crazy amount in taxes. 15 million a year in federal taxes? You could buy how many homeless people houses just with that. Where does all this money go? I guarantee a portion of it is wasted. How much? We’ll never know.

To an extent, the nba escrow he will get back over time and nba players pay guys to help them pay less taxes

Right, I think it’s true in a sense but maybe not in reality. Prob step one is start a charity and pay all your family and friends to run it.

Some of the biggest social justice preeners on the C's have such charities: host a big party that promotes your merch and brand, and about call it a year.

I've got much more respect for the likes of Donovan Mitchell, who really has donated millions early in his career, than I do JB who'd repeatedly tell folks about his $1K donation to BLM.

It's not crazy and rich people are not close to paying fairly into the system in the US. Nowhere close.

I'll never understand the desire to take a grenade for the 1%. It's like people lose their ability to reason with 7-figure numbers.

People that complain about high taxes are rarely the ones who care about housing the homeless.
You would be surprised at the things that you take for granted that are paid for by taxes.

I had a joke about the tax dicussion in this thread and the country most proud of its super expensive military force but yeah, let's not derail the thread.
All this silence only tells me maybe Brown is signing for less than the max
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

There will be a lot of pretty good players available for the vet minimum soon is what I am guessing. Players like Terrence Ross for example. Probably a ton more

From Shams:

The Chicago Bulls have applied to the NBA for a Disabled Player Exception worth $10.2 million due to injury of Lonzo Ball, who is expected to miss the entire 2023-24 season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Enough. We ALL gotta let it go (here).

I apologize for even responding in the first place.
