Griffin is really versatile offensively too when you give him the ball and let him decide.

The problem is with Paul handling tht much, he's playing off the ball, and he's not good at that.

Griffin isn't that efficient imo, i see him brick a lot when he is pushin it offensively in the paint. Plus he is more a highlight player with his dunk, which are overated most of the time.

Griffin is a finesse player, his technique is high level, not only his physique.

He's a great passer, he can handle the ball, he can create offense.

He has regressed from his rookie season because Paul has the ball all the damn time, they need to go through Blake on offense, I hope Doc figure it out more.

Griffin is really underrated as an offensive weapon, he's really polished.

Courtney Lee is going bye bye because of his contract.

Mitchell would get a spot cause of his performance in the D-League last year and his athleticism.

Settle down bro.

Not on this team. Too many players ahead of him. Not exactly talking about Oladipo here.

Yeah, you are right we have the almighty Jordan Crawford we need to play.

Hey, almighty or otherwise, there is a number's game and the swing positions on this roster are gonna be pretty much spoken for by the time the season starts and I doubt there is anything in Mitchell's game that is going to vault him over the guys that have guaranteed contracts on this roster.

Does rebuilding mean get rid of NBA players and sign trash? Let's trade Rondo for a bag of donuts and sign Pressey.

having olynyk on the team just makes me want to keep rondo even more, imagine the type of games he'd get with rondo passing to him. ROY candidate for sure as a starter.

It's summer league and you want to cut an NBA player for a Dleaguer because he had a nice put back. Do you even know that someone has to take Lee's contract for him to go bye bye? Courtney Lee is not going bye bye..sorry. Even if we could get rid of him I'd still take his 5 million over Mitchell for chump change..there's a reason one has a contract and the other doesn't.

Apparently some don't get the idea of rebuilding.

Not sure you get the idea of roster management.

did ainge say that ?

Yup he said that, he thinks that Olynyk will be better than Griffin.

he never said it publicly, LBF reported that privately that is how they see him if he maxes his potential

publicly Ainge is sticking to a 'complementary player' which is smart, no need to put any extra pressure on him, already got a big transition on his hands

Really impressed by KO's BBIQ and general skill level. You can tell he was a pg growing up. I am in no way comparing their abilities, but his game has a little bit of Dirk and a little bit of Big Al in it. I think he is a keeper, and if he adds true 3 pt. range, possibly a good player. His body needs work, but he is not soft, just not explosive.

Good thing about olynyk is that he only takes smart shots and is very efficient at it. He's not going to chuck the ball or try to pad his stats with unnecessary shots, he's a teammate first and will pass the ball if that's the best thing to do.

Obliviously he has room to grow and seems like the guy who would stay in the gym for an extra couple hours after practice just to improve his game.

Good game today guys, I was really impressed with both squads. KO looks great though, such a good pick up by you guys. Looking forward to seeing how both teams do during the rest of summer league.

Good SL game to watch.

Here are some thoughts:

1. Olynyk showed why I wanted the Celtics to draft him. It's one game, but Olynyk showed what he can do just like in college. He is just a very good offensive player and can score in the post, shoot with range, and put the ball on the floor.

2. Tony Mitchell was the Celtic's 2nd best player today. He hit 2 corner 3's, got to the line and had a big dunk. He is a talented player that was the D-League ROY.

3. Fab Melo had a good 3rd quarter, but overall he still looks slow to reacting to everything on the floor. He does not have a great understanding or feel for the game. He still looks like a project. He needs to work on his second jump.

4. Paul Pressey. A lot of people seem down on him. He had a tough start but played a lot better. Overall, I feel he played well.

I was worried that Olynyk would be slow from end to end, I did not notice him lumbering. The 3.59 full court sprint timing had me a little concerned.

Melo does need much more work. IMO, he should get it at the pro level this year, it would be beneficial on several levels. I did like that he competed for rebounds and did not appear to lose any due to his hands.

Mitchell should make the squad cause:

1. We are rebuilding.

2. We need to do everything possible to rid ourselves of Lee's contract

3. His fantastic D-League play last year..

4. He is super athletic.

We do realize Lee is a guard and Mitchell is a Forward, right?

Didn't get to watch the game by hopefully Nolan Smith can go tomorrow. By the sound of it the guards were awful.

I also agree that Fab should get much more NBA reps this year.

Big KO was a beast, damn.. 25 pts/7 boards in 26 minutes? I'm really impressed.

On the other hand, Danny could've at least made a little effort to sign a guard or 2, who know what the **** they are doing, these guys were flat out horrible, only Mitchell was decent and I think he's a SF, right?

edit: also Fab is progressing, slowly, but surely, he still needs work. Not that bad of a game by him tho, 9pts/8 boards is decent I guess.

should help that we will probably practice on off days this season :)

I was a rookie. He didn’t usually give opportunities to rookies,” said Melo as he prepared for today’s summer league opener. “That’s all I think it was. It was hard. We didn’t have a lot of practices, so it was hard to show him anything. That was a problem.

Pressey's game wasn't as bad as some posters suggest. He threw a few away and did not execute many, if any, pick and rolls. But he was aggressive in his scoring and was a pest defensively.

I'm hoping Nolan Smith gives it a go next game, I think he has a much bigger chance of making the squad than Pressey honestly, tho Pressey had an average game, nothing special, not that bad either..
