The physicality doesn't seem to result in better defense or several additional rebounds.

They are similar shooters/scorers and defenders. Fournier's a better playmaker and Bogan grabs an additional rebound per game.

Got to get someone better than Bogan, if they're dealing off Smart.

Smarts contract blows. Such an overrated player. This league is not about defense and shooting bricks. You have to put the ball in the hoop and take pressure of the Jays with somebody that can. Their defense is fine..the offense is a train wreck.

The team is better with Marcus than Schroeder despite him not being able to score or shoot. Smart puts a ceiling on your offense when he’s a featured player but he’s good and on good money. Schroeder was going to get 4/84 from the Lakers and he’s the lesser player. Marcus’ deal is the “inflation adjusted” copy of his last one. Cap and tax go up - other players’ contracts go up. If he could shoot he’d be getting Lonzo Ball money or better.

Golden State & Phoenix are 1st and 2nd in defensive efficiency. Yes, shooting is important, but so is defense.

Obviously both are important, but our offense coughs up the ball when not bricking.

Easier to set defense when other team starts possession by inbounding after a made basket

Our defense would not be top 5 without Smart. He is not the only problem with the offense, he's just a weak point. Al and Tatum's shooting drops are doing a lot to keep us underwater, which is aggravating the shortcomings of roster construction and fit. Brown and Tatum aren't playmaking to their potential - Tatum at least has games where he tries and makes an impact. Treating him like a liability and bad contract to get rid of is making a mistake.

Celtics are 22nd and 23rd in offensive efficiency and effective FG perecentage. GS is 13th and 2nd Phx is 4th and 4th. There is zero comparison to those 2 teams especially the Suns who are very balanced.

I will tell you one stat that is very different between Bogdanovic and Fournier, Wins.

Bogdanvoic has won 47, 47 41 (in 63 game season), 52 on 2 different teams. Him and Fournier are a different class of shooter. Fournier can make 3's and sometimes at a high clip but Bagdanovic is a knock down shooter.

I agree he is too old and he is a defensive weaklink but he can knock it down and win games.

Here he is a couple of weeks ago. It's not just aesthetic that Bojan is slow and Fournier is soft. They score in different ways and that opens up different looks for teammates. They're both 6'7" but Bojan plays big for his size and Evan doesn't. He can post up a little, moves the ball quickly, I'll check the stats but it looks like his time per possession and dribbles per possession are lower. And he's likely to age well because he's a smart player who doesn't depend on athleticism..

I agree you don't give him away but I would be willing to move him as well.

He is really close to being the guy you need but he still needs a little bit everything. I had always hoped he was going to be Chauncey Billups and he still can be but he isn't yet. Billups popped in year 6 at 26 years old, Marcus is in year 7 and 27 years old. I don't even care about the stats it is about willing this team to win.

It would be great to still have him when this team gets that one more guy. But if he has to go to get that guy so be it.

I thought he'd have a decent shot by now. Before this year he'd gone .364, .347, .330

Treating him as a legit 3rd option is an even bigger one.

Smart shouldn't be asked to be a third option. And watching the last month of Celtics basketball (including tonight), I'd be more worried about fixing the first option, not the third.

Actually tonight's game was a preview of what this team is going to look like after they trade Marcus Smart next week to save some money.

You know if Smart had played he would have found some ugly way to win at the end.
