From a Celtics fan perspective, there is a lot of reason to be upset. I can't really speak to the Ben Wallace situation, but if it's a business deal which usually means primarily money, in a league where money often equals "respect" then that's one thing. But this wasn't about money. And it wasn't about stability for Ray's family. It was about Ray's ego and sticking it to the Celtics. Miami was the best place to take care of both.

And I don't know if Doc was "thrown under the bus" by Ray, but I saw him lumped in with Ainge for not supporting/respecting Ray enough, might have been in the Wojnarowski article. You know, you can only do so much diva management before it is a detriment to the team. Doc has to win games and Danny has to build a team for now and the future.

And he's the disloyal one? This just does not make sense. A team (or fanbase) can't expect loyalty to be a one way street. You can't tell a man he's traded to Memphis and expect him to remain totally committed to your team until the day he retires. It just isn't fair. Do I hope anyone but Miami wins next season? Of course. Will I root for Ray Allen to do well individually? Yes. He is one of the classiest players in the NBA - still.

go back to your board please. no one cares about your opinion here. tell you pistons friends if you care to share. or yourself in the mirror. just not here.

ray leaving is not the issue. it is leaving for the heat at this time and in this way.

Simple answer: Ray Allen didn't accept more money to play in Miami, Ben Wallace did accept more money to play in Chicago.

Ray Allen is a piece of garbage who doesn't deserve any kind of respect from the Celtics organization when Miami comes to town.

Bro, please, next time u try to write ur opinion, read most of the articles on the subject u're writing about.. Ray got offered no-trade clause.. HE MIGHT'VE BEEN SHOPPED, BUT HE NEVER GOT TRADED, SO DROP THIS.. Him leaving for 9 mil/3 years, only proved Danny should have traded him.. Not to mention he tried to mock the organization by asking for 27 mil/3years to stay.. Please next time do ur homework, before posting..

P.S. Also he threw Doc under the bus, while Doc has never had anything bad to say about Allen and he's always raved about him being the ultimate teammate, which actually isn't true.

What did Ray say about Doc?

Been listing to the radio today. From what I have heard there were major issue with Rondo. Ray also felt disrespected at the constant trade rumors, the fact that KG, PP, Green and Bass were getting paid better and he was upset that he was taken out of the starting line up.

With all that said he is going to a team that will pay him less, which was an issue, and have him come off the bench, which was another issue.

At the end of the day he went to the heat just to spite the celtics. Mission accomplished. Heat are better, celtics are worse and as a parting gift he took his 6M dollar salary slot with him leaving the celtics with only 2M to sign players. Allen was a fraud and I as a complete idiot buying into his nice guy professional act he put one for five seasons that he was here.

I always thought Celtics fans were more appreciative and less venomous. Most of you sound like Ray got you pregnant, forced you to have an abortion, broke up with you, then months later, you saw him with his new, prettier pregnant wife.

Yeah well you must not be from around here. People in Boston are insane about their teams. It is one thing to leave Boston and play for some random team. It is another to take less money and join up with your rival and the most hated team in the NBA.

Ray is now just simply one more of those pathetic player in the NBA that take the easy way.

Instead of the BIG campaign the NBA has been pushing they need to start of the "If you can't beat them, join them" campaign.

elle, I'm not a Cs fan but I'm from the old school and I believe in loyalty. I think you need to be faithful and not bite the hand that feed you. For me it's more like Ray Allen is an ex-wife who tries to have sex with any and all of your closest friends only to F with me.

Ray will be in South Beach stewing over how the Cs did him bad, elle. That's how I feel about it.

Just like after a marriage that was good a lot of years, some people resort to only seeing the bad and only trying to resort to petty, bitter, BS. Those people IMO were selfish all along. They are the opposite of classy. I understand Ray must really feel betrayed, but I think he's acting like a vindictive, emotional, egotistical wimp. Lost lots of respect for Allen.

If you were privileged to wear the Celtic Green and win a ring you should be happy. Likewise, a lot of these NBA wives would have still been in the ghetto, the trailer park, or the club if not for the baller they clung to in the first place.

Ray Allen was a great player and all, but for him to feel this slighted makes me think he's full of himself.

The ill will is justified, imo. Many competitive athletes liken sports to war. While in our current political environment it is frowned upon to draw this correlation, but players put their bodies through a lot in their "battles" in the playoffs. To have Ray Allen abandon players who fought and clawed with him because he was hurt that Ainge thought he found an opportunity to upgrade. To be vindictive towards Ainge is one thing, but to spurn KG, PP, even guys like AB who put everything on the line with him for the enemy? I'm sure you can understand the sentiment.

After reading more items this morning I think:

1) Ainge needed to be more tactful in the way he handled the attempted trades of Ray, Paul, and Rondo. And he shouldn't run his mouth publicly. Maybe this teaches Danny a lesson.

2) Ray's a megalomaniac and petty. Though I understand his feeling irked by the way that Memphis trade blindsided him, he's not the only Celtic to be traded or nearly so (Paul, Rondo almost; Perk sent packing). He's not even the only player whose pride was wounded (Odom, Pau). But he's the only one who acted vengefully, signing for less to be a bench player with his former team's biggest conference rival just so he could stick his middle finger at Ainge, Rondo, and Doc.

3) There was a lot of discussion on this board about Rondo disrupting Ubuntu, but it looks like after 2009 the most poisonous locker room presence was Ray's.
My name's Henry Connor.
Conner Henry was a Celtic.
Hence the pun.

Fuch that, don't even compare thr Ben Wallace situation. Ben left for the money and he was foolish enough to think he was more than jst a defensive presence and a better offensive player than what the Pistons gave him credit for.

Ray flat out betrayed the entire Celtics organisation by joining a team that most bball fans, ol skool-new skool views as a fraud. A team that destryed old skool values. So **** Ray, he has shown he is a fraud after all. Ring chasing bitch

I really liked Ray's game. Never tired of seeing him swish a 3. Almost bought his J\jersey. But now I feel betrayed. If it were any other team, I would be OK with it. If it was more money, I would understand. But what a punk thing to do - signing with our #1 rivals in the East for half what he could have made here.

The silver lining is that Ray is getting old and the Celtics need to get younger. This opens the door wide for Bradley.

I hope we crush the Heat in 4 games next season.

Why all the Allen hate but Terry love? JET did the SAME THING ALLEN DID. Oh, and JET was with his team for 8 YEARS.

Because Jet didn't leave for the team's biggest rival, and the Mavericks didn't even make a decent offer for him, even with all the cap room that they have...
