The Jason Kidd and Boston thing was a fans things. Players get along, mostly. It's a small club.

Baxter Holmes @BaxterHolmes now
Source says Boston-Brooklyn blockbuster is "close." Belief is KG would likely waive his no trade to reunite w/ Pierce.

I wonder how much diligence they did with the Bogans s&t aspect. I'd hope they aren't just assuming he'd be willing, but it probably wouldn't be this far down the road without his permission.

Also a bit curious about them doing it tonight, when it doesn't seem to be dependent on the draft at all.

at least Ainge would be sending all 3 of these guys to a team that would WIN the title----better than Cleveland for PP....AND Pierce would get ALL his money---instead of buying him out.
we gonna suck for years.

Buyout Pierce of $5 million and KG has $20 mil left.

Assuming KG plays 2 years, that's 25 million right there. We are spending upwards of $45 million on these deals.

If KG plays his ENTIRE CONTRACT, we are paying like $6-7 million per pick. Ridiculous

why do you care about wyc's money?

Because we are buying picks with cap space. We can just flat out buy a late 20s pick for $ 3 million. That money we are paying for those pick can't be used on other players.

you do know, we have a new cba, and you don't trade a first at any level for cash anymore. those days are gone.

Zero chance KG refuses to waive his no trade clause. Nets won't get past the heat but I think they can be a 2nd seed which makes them contenders I suppose.

Thank you. 6-7 for a lATE ROUND pick...and well likely suck and picking near the top of the second....WHY WHY WHY do this? Do the posters on this board actualy go to the games? Who the F is going take their kid and pay $70 a seat to watch this crap team next year?

Who cares? At this point it's time to accumulate assets...draft picks and contracts. Use them in trades. Where the picks are and when don't matter -- they're just bargaining chips. I'm sure there will be a nearly constant flow of trades of players and picks the next few years.

Expect DA to shoot for a 12-15 win team next year to get into the high lottery; ownership likely knows they'll see a bit of a ticket drop this year but not much until the following. They will make up the losses perhaps with cheaper contracts. Wyc also just started a sports venture so that may offset Celtic related losses.

So we need to move JET, Rondo, Bass, and Green in addition to PP and KG.

This starting 5 should do the trick:

Terrence Williams
Shav
DJ White
Bradley
Sully

That starting lineup is not happening no matter how hard we tank. When we trade guys like Green, Rondo, KG, and Pierce, we will be getting contracts back that are too good to sit behind DJ White.

We'll get back contracts but trade them. Payroll will go down, eventually, even if it spikes near-term, as Agine trades expiring contracts and the like. So I think we can go with that lineup most of the time.
My name's Henry Connor.
Conner Henry was a Celtic.
Hence the pun.

If Nets stay healthy and Miami is relatively healthy, I actually think the Nets can take them down. They will have a tough time guarding Lebron on the perimeter but the Nets offense will have enough fire power to score against Miami's defense especially with Miami getting older. Lebron/Bosh/Wade/RA/Battier etc. won't be better defensively next year.

Nets really need a player like KG to improve their D. And PP gives them some JJ insurance.... PP can't do it anymore as a number 1 option facing any sort of double team pressure or a great defender like Lebron but as a 4th option, he has a great chance to deliver very well.

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
If proposed trade goes thru, Boston gets worst of Hawks and Nets firsts in 2014 (due to Joe Johnson trade) & unprotected firsts in 2016 and 2018

Unprotected in 16 and 18. This would be great.

Our grandchildren might watch the next LeBron. We on the other hand are going to go 5 years as the new Toronto Raptors. How long until Rondo asks for a trade?

10 minutes to 10 days.

This has no contingency on NBA draft. I imagine it has urgency because danny has another deal in the hopper that he would do if this goes down. Only reason that this has to happen now.

So I think the next question is do we trade Rondo?
