No I think Rondo after possibly being told by his agent that a deal was reached and perhaps talked with his agent and said... I'm not interested in signing in Sacramento after next season or this off-season. The Kings hear that news and their enthusiasm for a trade pretty much disappears. Heck Rondo is smart enough that he may have told his agent to say NO when Ainge calls him with a Sacramento deal.

So you think a deal was actually reached today? Highly doubt it. I think it's common knowledge around the league that players like Melo and Rondo will wait until their contracts are up before signing a new one. Not because they want to leave their teams, but because it only makes financial sense. It was probably less "I won't resign with Sac" .. And more "I will play out my contract regardless if I'm traded or not"

I agree with you that there is a good chance that Rondo lets his deal play out until the end of next year. If he is feeling really good by the end of this year, he may take that gamble. I just think there is a damn good chance Rondo said the Kings aren't a team he is interested in signing with and that killed the a tentative deal.

If you were Rondo and grew up in (I believe) Kentucky, would you want to go to the rebuilding Kings in the tough WC in an unglamorous part of California. Sacramento is not LA or San Francisco Bay area. I sure wouldn't and I wouldn't want the pressure to resign with them so I would tell them the truth. Thanks but not thanks.

A deal clearly wasn't completely reached but it may have been reached just contingent upon Rondo saying he was at least very open to the possibility of signing with Sacramento after next season. Ainge will probably deny it since he pretty much has too unless its so damn obvious that it can't be credibly denied.

If this report is true, it gives more credibility that Rondo was offered for the same package last year that the Pelicans gave Philly since that would have allowed him back then to draft McLemore.

Lastly it may mean even if Ainge keeps Rondo, he may want to swing a deal for McLemore and Bradley could be a goner sooner or later.

Slow down, Buster. I don't think any of that follows logically. First, what Spears reported was Sacramento's offer. Now he's reporting 'discussions'. Whatever the case, I don't think that means Ainge is after McLemore at all. What gives you that idea? If Ainge really was shopping around trying to move into the top 5 last lottery he was looking for Nerlens Noel first and foremost.

McLemore has been a disappointment and if Sacramento pulled him back and/or called Spears to change the parameters of their offer, it's not because they're protecting his fragile psyche its because they're trying to trade him someplace else and want to make it seem like he's some highly prized prospect. If he was so good they wouldn't be considering trading him 50 games into his career.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

I feel like I've heard Ainge say before in radio interviews that he likes both Jonas and Ross.

Raps fans seem to think that reporter is legit.

McLemore being rumored in a deal for Rondo gave me that idea. If a deal is not done for whatever reason, its in both teams interests to downplay it.

I don't think the Kings are necessarily trying to trade McLemore, they are trying to trade for Rondo.

And why upset McLemore if a deal wasn't completed since Rondo said no? It serves the Kings no purpose other then perhaps to say he is on a short leash.

Any talks with Toronto would have to start with Jonas, right? I can't imagine Toronto putting together a decent package without him involved.

I bet Toronto would kill for a Rondo+Olynyk package.

I would break the bank for Rondo

Trade JV, Ross, Demar, everything......but Rondo would need to agree to an extention

Although Lowry has played like the best PG in the East this season so trading for Rondo would mean that Masai does not believe in Lowry or thinks he can re-sign him

This is awful. Toronto wouldn't trade any of the above for Rondo. The difference between Lowry (this year) & Rondo is not Demar, Ross or JV.

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

If your team believed that they wouldn't be interested in Rondo in the first place. That's assuming this rumor is true obviously.

Can't see how a deal goes down between us and the Raps. I think the only players we'd be interested in are Ross and JV, and both seem like vital pieces to their future core. A trade for Rondo only sets them back, even though he is a better player than Lowry.

I think the difference between Lowry and Rondo is very small. Love Lowry and Rondo

I also do think its a risk acquiring Rondo because there is no guarantee he meshes well with Casey and develops the same chemistry Lowry has. I don't think we are a great trading partner afterall.

His proposal is way over the top, but let's not get crazy here. You guys are 4 games over .500 in the East, and not the '96 Bulls.

Maybe they have bigger dreams that being a perennial 4th seed in the East.

d.ainge should trade rondo before deadline.
you dont want rondo when you're tanking. eventually he leads some wins which isnt necessary.
also after this trade deadline his trade value would decrease.

for this summer trying to trade rondo:
-only 1 year on his contract. any team wants to get rondo; gets 1 year rental.

so how is that one:

nyk recevies : rondo+green+wallace contract
bos recevies: 2018 1st+shump+Stat+udrih

or

nyk recevies: lin+asik
hou receives: rondo+filler bad contract
bos recevies: stat+houston 1st+nyk 1st

If Danny trades Rondo to NYK, Hardaway or Melo best be part of the return.

I really the NBA would just tell the Knicks, "hey you have nothing but crap on your team as far as trade assets go, so we are disallowing you to participate in this year's deadline. Thank you and see you in 2018"

Then we would not see all these moron trades proposed on our board thus dumbing it down to levels unknown to man.

I've heard from my fathers, brothers, cousin in Sochi that Danny is working on letting Rondo out of his contract to go play in Russia. Which ever Russian team acquires him would then send 5 stray dogs a month for a period of no greater than 12 months and rights to the Russian electrical team that was responsible for the opening of the games.

He's been rumored to head everywhere else so why not?

I'll laugh when come Thursday the team looks the same as it did before.

Return to Boston Celtics
