Our defense on screens and picks does leave me mystified, are we trying to offer them 3s?
Also, we are league worst in 3 ptrs ( highest volume, lowest percentage). We are top 5 in 2 ptrs in percent but bottom 5 in volume. Could we try and switch this up a bit?
Pace is still hovering at league low, we can't afford to walk or jog it up and face a set defense time and again. Bane got a layup after we made a basket just by pushing pace. When are we gonna see that from our guys?

With Jaylen Brown on and Garza/Simons off, the C's have a +16.7 net rating in 165 minutes.
With Jaylen Brown on and Garza/Simons on, the c's have a -9.5 net rating in 52 minutes.
With Jaylen Brown on, Simons on and Garza off the C's have a -17.1 net rating in 82 minutes.
With Jaylen Brown on, Simons off and Garza on the C's have a -67.0 net rating in 18 minutes.
Basically, Jaylen Brown with a bunch of solid defenders (Minott, Hugo, Pritchard, White, Queta, Walsh) is incredible. As soon as you add the Garza/Simson traffic cones the thing falls apart.
I honestly think if this team just added 1 more average backup big to replace Garza they could be pretty good this year. Not sure why Boucher can't get a shot, Garza gives you nothing. Doesn't make enough shots, doesn't defensive rebound, zero rim protection. He's a massive anchor around this teams neck right now.

Re: Celtics 2025-26, Season Thread
great research...
As for the big man problem, we've still got Amari Williams on a 2-way and we need to see some minutes out of him at some point too
The right minimum guy in the Luka Garza mold available this offseason was Mamukelashvilli. I wonder if Brad went for Mamu but Toronto gauranteed a bigger role & Mamu picked the Raps. Mamu seems like more of a Brad spacing big than Garza imo and Mamu is having a nice start up north

Normally I'd say that a 2-way player is probably not the answer to a roster problem, but honestly i don't see how he could possibly be worse than Garza has to this point. I just don't think Garza does much of anything. He shoots, but doesn't make threes. he doesn't defensive rebound. not really a rim protector. fouls a lot. Not sure why he's getting minutes over Boucher.
Garza may be taller than Boucher, but Boucher has a 9'2 standing reach and a 7'4 wingspan. Boucher is probably longer than Garza, and he shot 36% from 3 last year. Just give him some center minutes and see how it looks.
Garza is 8th on the team in total minutes and by far has the worst net rating at -13.3. He's killing this team right now.

Sadly I think some of the distribution for playing time can be determined simply by contract length. Pritchard has two more years on Simons in terms of contract length, Garza has 1 more year on Boucher and Tillman.
I wish Brad had given Minott the Garza contract, and vice versa. Granted, Kornet worked out nicely for the C's but I am having a hard time imagining it with Garza.

JB's long been an on/off +/- black hole. Has been in the negative for 7 of his 10 years in the league--and not in the positive since 21-22:
