Ainge is in love with him. I'd hate a trade for Love but there's nothing i could do about it.

If BOTH > than any current Celtics AND likely available, then I would agree Westbrook would seem like player X - although, depending on how highly one rates Butler, he could still be a possibility. You could be right about Love but he seems like a much less likely target now that we have Horford. Cousins would fit the equation but Kings are such a mess I doubt they could pull the trigger on a deal even if they wanted to.

Butler, Cousins is off the table until next deadline. Bulls signing Rondo and Wade means they'll try to be competitive. Kings are moving into new arena. Trading Cousins would empty seats in seconds. They also signed several veterans - Tolliver, Temple, Barnes, Afflalo. That's not a sign of rebuild.

This is good news if it is true, which it seems to be, based on previous insights by Lifshatz. Danny the Trader is about to save Celtics fans from Danny the Drafter... :)

If we're dealing Zeller on a Bogans/Humphries deal- 3 years, 45 million, only 1st year guaranteed- with 2 non-BKN 1sts for Middleton, I guess I could make peace with that.

So like do Boston fans also think this guy has the most lopsided view of deals or is it just me?

I know what's fair, that doesn't mean I can't start lopsided. Those deals do happen (3 unprotected BKN 1sts?)..

For fun, let's pretend this is true.... Let's highlight every all star caliber player (heck, lets highlight any player that's more than average) that wouldn't be a shock if they were on the trade market:

Milsap
Brook Lopez
Vucevic
Monroe
Middleton
Wesbtrook
Hayward (sort of would be surprised)
Gallo
Chandler

Okay first off I want to say that I am a long time lurker, ever since the days of Tony Delk running point guard and Raef Lafrentz knocking down some J's (I'm from Pennsylvania and Paul Pierce made me fall in love with the Celtics). I have loved this message board for years and I use it as my main source of Celtics news because of all the amazing insight so many posters on here have and I can't thank you guys enough for all of that.

Not to refer back to shenanigans that occurred in this thread, but I had a busy weekend an am just going through this whole thread while I'm stuck at work. I wanted to say something along the lines of this during the Durant saga but I never got around to it.

To the posters that have sources and can provide inside info that some of us others don't have the benefit of obtaining, I just want to say thank you for your contribution and I can't thank you enough for what you provide. Even if they are just rumors, that is what makes it exciting. I know there are a couple main guys on here that provide info such as ddb, smitty, caveman, LBF and you guys are the best. I usually scroll through looking for what you guys post because that little information gives me my own little Celtics high during the off season. I was like a crazed man going through threads during the Durant drama looking for the information Smitty was providing. I am glad we have a thread that can be used to provide the insider information and me not having to search through every thread for it lol. After this long ramble, I just want to reiterate how much I appreciate the insider information you guys provide and that this board would not be as great as it is if it weren't for the contributions you all put in. Thank you again and now time to go back to pg. 14 in this thread and continue to enjoy my Celtics rumors.

A "star" he says? Let's see.... who would I be happy with?

Would make me very happy: Paul George, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, John Wall (plus a bunch of guys who obviously won't be moved, e.g. Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony Towns, etc.).

Would make me say "meh": Tyson Chandler, Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap, Jimmy Butler.

Would make me very unhappy: Carmello Anthony, Kevin Love, DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Rudy Gay, Jahlil Okafor, Nerlins Noel.

I'd be happy with some non-stars too, e.g. Robin Lopez, Kosata Koufos, Al-Farouq Aminu, etc.

As for Westbrook, he may be traded, but not util the deadline, and I firmly believe he's going to one of the LA teams when he becomes unrestricted. Ainge better not overpay for a rental.

I think Westbrook gets traded before the season, providing that Presti has his eyes set on tanking. Plus, he loses leverage the longer he waits IMO. If he deals him now, he can sucker some teams into giving up more assets, thinking that they have a shot at re-signing him.

If we trade for Westbrook I hope we somehow get Adams too

Not that I wouldn't want Westbrook, but our chemistry would take a hit. IT would be benched, Westbrook would ball dominate, and the team could get frustrated.

You don't seem to have much idea at all at what is fair. You're saying you could make peace with getting Middleton for two mid to late firsts. That's different than starting lopsided - which I don't see the point of anyway. I think the more likely explanation is that you're a huge humor that consistently undervalues players on other teams.

Yeah, that's the way I see it as well. Hyped draft. Westbrook is a 15-20 win player and can almost singlehandedly win 10 additional games before February. He should probably be moved within this July-Sept window. If I'm Presti, I'd want to get a look at more SL to see if any prospects look like world beaters and which don't.

I don't really have anything new, but I didn't see much happening here in Vegas yesterday. Of course I'm not reading Ainge's cell, so I don't know what texts he's getting. :)

I will say it is fairly easy to get excited anytime you see 2-3 GMs chatting but you casually stroll by and they are talking about anything but basketball. Yesterday (non-Celtics) two guys were breaking down golf courses in North Carolina with the same fervor we use here on the boards for breaking down the Celtics.

Hoping Danny is going after Boogie. The time is now to make that happen.

send the '18 Nets pick, assorted other non-Nets firsts, Smart, and Amir Johnson to Sacramento for Cousins.

That's a solid deal for both teams. The Kings can't keep Cousins long term and if they tank this year and next year they're looking at 2 picks in the top 5 or 6 in 2018.

I don't think the Kings would be all that interested in the '17 Nets pick because they'd have to give up their own lottery pick in exchange for it. At best they'd just move up a few spots. At worst their pick would actually be higher and the right to trade picks would be useless.

It doesn't convert to Kings/Bk 17 swap in case it's traded to Kings. It would still be Celtics/BK swap - Kings get our pick which they can swap with Bk.

Right. Wording for trading/contract purposes has to be "the higher of Brooklyn, Boston picks in 2017."

But for all intents and purposes, the receiving team would be getting Brooklyn's unprotected lottery pick next year.

It's Tim Duncan, guys. We're trading for Timmy. He's finally gonna be a Celtic.
