If Al opts out he will be giving up a lot of money next season because we're not going to offer him the max again.

Not saying it's likely but you don't think it's possible Al would take the money by opting in and getting his trade kicker? He did leave Atlanta because he was mad they didn't want to pay him more than anyone else after all.

3 for 60 is more than 1 for 30.

I think he’s opting out no question.

Yes, but you guys are way, way too low on what he'd then resign for -- probably due to not accounting for the rapidly rising cap over the next... well... forever.

What are the odds he can't get way more than 2 years, $30m under an $118m salary cap in 2020 if he didn't opt out this summer?

He opts out, and then resigns at $25m starting salary, for 3-4 years. If we are lucky, that $25m won't escalate, but that part doesn't matter much.

Davis doing the whole "I'll be a rental to anyone but LA" thing.

Demps literally not calling back Pelinka.

Davis hedged strong: he currently groups out Boston because he’s unsure if Kyrie will be there long term.

Translation: if you trade for me and Kyrie stays, i’ll stay. If not, I want the Lakers.

The biggest scare from the article was the Knicks sub-plot— basically, if they win the lotto they are aiming for a Kyrie-AD-KP trio. Seems like LA is trying for a Kyrie-AD-LeBron trio, too. Looks like Kyrie and AD will be a package deal this summer.

This is a major reason why we have to go hard. If we don't land AD, good chance Kyrie walks.

New Orleans owner Gayle Benson is enthusiastically carrying the small market banner, pushing back on any planned superstar union of James and Davis in the NBA's glamour market.

If Davis wants to be a Laker, the Pelicans' mantra so far is simply: Feel free to join L.A. as a free agent in 2020 -- and potentially punt on the 2019-20 season, with LeBron at age 35, to keep the requisite cap space open.

Demps is picking up his phone and returning calls -- just not from the Lakers, sources said. From Paul George to Leonard to Davis, the Lakers front office is growing accustomed to icy receptions from teams enduring All-Star trade demands with a full year left on their contracts.

Jeanie needs to file a complaint. Players union should also file a complaint. This is insane and extremely bias. The warriors are allowed to get whomever they want. The league will stay messed up until something is done. The lakers have been held down and irrelevant due to bias from small market teams. Our only shot is clearly free agency in which we receive tampering fines. This is not right at all. People answer the phone for the Knicks, bulls and Boston. I don’t see how this can’t be a huge issue for the nba. I wish our organization could go on a strike. Nba would lose a lot money without the lakers.

The Lakers have been tampering with other teams for years, but the second they get shunned, they whine. I mean, I'd understand more if they at least, had the best package to offer. But no, their players are trash compared to what we can offer. This type of response is hilarious, but not surprising.

Well its a bit disingenuous on the part of the Pels to say they're not going to trade him to LA because they're a "small market". I mean why would you trade with Boston or NY then? Besides the Pels aren't a "small market", they're a non-market. The Celtics have pulled off just as many rip-offs as the Lakers have in the last 40 years.

The problem is the Lakers are the Yankees of the NBA, and no one likes to see the rich get richer, well the fans and media at least. The league and owners love it..

Watching entitled fanbases whine is funny.

If the Lakers/Magic/LeBron stopped blatantly tampering, or if the tampering rules were enforced, teams would trade with them.

Its my favorite. When there were rumors LeBron wanted to come here last offseason, I was all for it because of the pettiness towards Kyrie— I live for that ****.

That's just AD playing 4D chess. Says he'll only sign with the Lakers, causing the Pels to agree to a deal not involving Tatum, guaranteeing AD-Kyrie-Tatum trio.

Boom.

I don't think Horford is a piece Ainge is interested in moving on the AD front. I am predicting that Horford opts out of the final year of his max money and ends up signing a 3/55-60 million dollar extension with the Celtics. That will give him more stability to remain in Boston, win in Boston, and give the team a little more flexibility cap wise. Horford isn't going anywhere

That is exactly what Rich Paul and the Lakers are hoping will happen which is why all this B.S. is being leaked and reported. Ainge isn't going to fall for that stuff. He's been down this path before with KG. Kyrie & AD will be long-term Celtics

meh, tatum is gone for AD. that's the best prospect in the running.

of course ainge is hemming and hawing about that now. that's his ace in the hole. he's going to squeeze them for every inch without tatum, and at the last minute when demps is like f it i'm calling pelinka, ainge be like "ok, fine, we'll give you tatum and the picks but you have to take hayward." deal done.

Return to Boston Celtics
