I felt we've never really had legit scoring threats outside of IT, Irving, and to a smaller extent Jeff freaking Green in the Stevens era. This might be the first season where we have 3 or 4 guys who can score 25+ any given night.

Spoiler:
2013-14:
• Green - 13
• Others - 16 (next highest: 5)

2014-15:
• Green - 7
• Others - 16 (next highest: 5)

2015-16:
• Thomas - 24
• Others - 12 (next highest: 5)

2016-17:
• Thomas - 55
• Others - 8 (next highest: 4)

2017-18:
• Irving - 28
• Others - 13 (next highest: 5)

2018-19:
• Irving - 31
• Others - 14 (next highest: 5)

Three games in, we have one 25+ point game each from Kemba, Tatum, Brown, and Hayward.

Six games in, FOUR from Kemba and FIVE from others -- Hayward (2), Tatum (2), Brown (1). With Brown sidelined for the last three games.

Updating after 21 games...

Kemba - 9
Tatum - 7
Brown - 5
Hayward - 2

So "others" have already matched the 14-game total from last season. That's with Gordon missing 13 games already. And with 61 games left to play. We got some legit scorers now outside of our top dog.

Whoever you think is the Celtics' fifth best player, he's surely the best #5 guy in the league, right? There's a similar story for #4. It's also close to true for #3 (and I can't actually think of another case that clearly knocks us out of the top spot).

That's all more good than bad. But it does unfortunately mean that the Celtics are more likely to have a very good player injured than other teams are.

The Cs currently have the 3rd best record in the league, by any metric, without being in a tie with anybody, despite having played 12 of their 21 games on the road, including some traditionally hard road gigs (BtBs, ending a trip in Denver).

The one soft aspect of that schedule is that the majority of their games against other very good teams have been at home.

How great would the current standings be for the playoffs? We'd okay BKN and MIA while the Bucks, Sixers and Raptors battle it out in the other side of the bracket.

I know it’s early but I really believe Langford, Brown & Tatum as our 2,3,4 can win championships for us.
Langford needs to get out of the injury rut, Brown needs to keep working hard & Tatum needs to put on a bit of weight & they could be special.
And yes I do rate Langford that high.

I really look forward to seeing a lineup of Langford at PG with Hayward, Tatum and Brown at 2-4 and RW at C. That is going to be fun at both ends of the court.

But for now, Kemba and the 3 wings with Theis is going to make a hell of a lot of noise real soon.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Bold statement but you could be right. We just worry about Langfords brain more than his brawn. Lots to learn, but isn't out of the realm of possibility

Anybody on this board have any insight to whether Ainge would have still made the same selection of Tyler Herro had dropped?

I'll pit our best 5 against the best best 5 in the league which belong to the Clippers -- Tatum vs. PG, Hayward vs. Kawhi, Kemba vs. LouWill, Brown vs. Harrell, Smart vs. Beverley. They have a slight edge since it's easier for them to play all 5 at the same time.

Romeo plays at his own pace. The kid will be good in the league. He was not a known injury prone player so he will recover from his series of injuries in the last several months since the summer. Does he remind anyone else on this board of Brogdon in anyway?

Did they have a special screening of Uncut Gems in Boston? Enes has pics with Adam Sandler too.

Power rankings are coming out for the week, and the Celtics are of course very high. A couple I saw had them #3, the natural position given teams' records. A couple had them bumped to #4, by the Clippers or Mavs.

Something that I like about this team is that any opponent that starts a smallish or even "regular-sized" 2-guard is getting punished for it. We start 3 big, long, athletic wings. Jaylen and Gordon straight up punish smaller players. They drive through them and/or post them up with ease. They are both very strong and adept at using their size/strength. Tatum is long and still gets pushed a bit, but is improving in using his length to simply shoot right over smaller players. Throw Smart in there also. Too strong for 2 guards.

Our starters frequently have that mismatch, and we take advantage of it well.
