Why would he bolt? Because if Rondo were here next season Green would stay? Smart has a chance to be better than Rondo in a year or two. Rondo wasn't helping this team win games, it was easy to see. Ainge even commented on that. Rondo is good when he is surrounded by good players. I've been telling people if he is your 1st or 2nd best player, then you are in deep ****.

I think they get a TPE for each player. 5 million for wright and 2.75 for Nelson.

I think everybody is missing the big question. Will Jameer Nelson be able to bring the ball up the court with Avery Bradley there all the time?????

Well Nelson will be the backup pg, so they won't be on the floor together much. Nelson will be fine.

The biggest question is with Ray and Rondo gone who will DA be able to constantly dangle in trades?
My name's Henry Connor.
Conner Henry was a Celtic.
Hence the pun.

(Hopefully we add a 6.9mil TPE in here from Bass next. That would put us in an incredibly flexible position.)

As I understand it, this is not true (I am all but positive). From Dallas' perspective, this was a simultaneous trade, aggregating Wright, Nelson, and Crowder to acquire Rondo, with no TPE generated.

Boston gets the TPE because, from their perspective, it's three non-simultaneous trades: two where Wright and Nelson "complete" our earlier trades that netted us the Bogans and Anthony TPEs (with Crowder just coming over via the min salary exception), and one where Rondo is sent out for no return, generating a TPE that we have a year to use.

Check out questions #83, #84 and #85 in Coon's CBAFAQ for more explanation.

cbafaq wrote:It is important to view a trade from each team's perspective separately, rather than as a single, unified transaction. This is because the same trade may be organized differently according to each team's needs. For example, a trade might be classified as a simultaneous trade from one team's perspective, but from the other team's perspective it's actually broken into two separate trades, one simultaneous and the other non-simultaneous (completing a trade they made months earlier).

cbafaq wrote: Teams can send out more than one player in the same simultaneous trade. If the outgoing salaries are combined in order to acquire a replacement player with a higher salary than would be available by trading any outgoing player alone, the process is called "aggregation."
...
The other advantage to avoiding aggregation is that trades of individual players can be non-simultaneous, possibly gaining the team a trade exception (see question number 85).

I'm absolutely gutted. Ainge's **** after we lost in 7 to the Heat in 2012 were bad enough but this just adds to the failure.

I'm quite disgusted with the way Rondo was treated after turning into an elite NBA player in 2009-2010. Here was a man who hustled, played great defence the majority of the time, shared the ball even if he had teammate beef, and played through some serious damn **** injuries. Yet Ainge did nothing but shop him with this ridiculous belief that we could somehow get something good out of him.

Rondo probably was demanding the max come next off-season, and I think we can blame Ainge a fair bit for this. If Rondo was as loved by Ainge and his staff as he was by the majority of Celtics fans, he's taking a deal friendlier for the team.

Yes, Rondo was a flawed player who sadly never worked out how to score at will like he could in playoff games on a consistent basis. But he was a guy who can make any teammate look better, could help you out on the boards and if we were to get back into the playoffs soon again you bet he would've lifted his game to another level again.

This trade is nothing but another stupid move from Danny who clearly already has **** up the rebuild, and thanks to him I don't see Boston getting near contender status for at least another five years.

Our young talent is nothing to get excited about either. Smart will probably be a very good player, but will he be as good as Rondo? I'd be stunned. Olynyk is what he is. He's not suddenly going to turn into a rim protecting battle ready center like we all want him to. Sullinger is probably our best young player, who we should definitely look to build an offence around but even still I'm not convinced he can be a go to guy going forward. Avery Bradley is what he is, and the fact that we kept him before Rondo angers me an insane amount.

As if this team wasn't painful enough already. Literally the only guy who added any excitement to our games this year is gone and we've got little in return.

There's just no way I can defend this trade.

Jameer **** Nelson, Brandon **** Wright and Jae Crowder. Are you **** kidding me?

And don't even get all excited about the picks tanking enthusiasts. Like Dallas are even going to sniff the lottery at the present moment.

This is as low as it gets. What a **** day to be a Celtic fan.

Frankly, I was disgusted by the bolded. Season in and season out. Some "captain" huh?

I like Rondo, but since the knee injury he has been just plain mediocre. I never liked to trash him because I wanted us to get as much value out of him as possible or him to attract another star.

But the fact that he hasn't improved on pretty much anything since 2009-10 was the most frustrating thing ever. Not to mention the fact that he seemed to only give 100% in the playoffs which is shameful and rather pathetic.

Even more importantly though, is the fact that Rondo hasn't just not worked to become more consistent but rather has seemingly regressed nearly across the board offensively is pretty damn frustrating.

Last but not least, his .333 FT percentage is just plain insulting. You are in the damn NBA. :banghead:

This was a bad trade, but it was a bad trade in part because of what Rondo has become. I'm glad to move past the Rondo era of Celtics basketball. I appreciate his time here, but I am more than happy to tip my cap and move on.

It was a joke... One of Bradley's first big games early on was harassing Nelson bringing the ball up the court when he was still on Orlando. To the point that Nelson asked him to stop.

Yeah it was a sh*t haul. I've had time to let it soak in since it was announced and as much pro-tank as I am, I can't help but be incensed about the return. Going to try and sleep it off.

I'm pissed as well. -- My reason, is that I just didn't think that we were really going to trade him. -- I guessed that I hoped that a contract would be worked out, and that Rondo was going to be the linchpin of our Future.

End of that.

-- We play later today; so the band plays on, and the show goes on . . .

THIS SUCKS THOUGH!!!
