What years did the Cs make it to the ECFs...and lose?

1958 Finals - Russell twisted his ankle in, I think, Game 3?
1967 ECF - 68-13 Philadelphia prevailed, despite losing the regular season series to the Celtics (Boston prevailed 5-4)
1973 ECF - Havlicek dislocated his shoulder in Game 2
1982 ECF - 6' 1" Nate "Tiny" Archibald dislocated his shoulder in Game 2
1985 Finals - Lakers prevail. Maxwell ends up traded for Walton after series.
1987 Finals - Lucky to make it back after Len Bias's passing and Bill Walton breaking his foot again at the start of the season.
1988 ECF - Detroit over Boston.
2010 Finals - Perkins (Knee) and Powe (ACL) go down, Garnett was never the same after his 2009 knee injury.

Whoa, I just did a google check and I missed (did not mention):

1953 ECF: Knicks over Celtics
1954 ECF: Syracuse Nationals (later became Philadelphia 76'ers) over Celtics
1955 ECF: Syracuse Nationals over Celtics

They were a decent team when Russell and Heinsohn showed up in 1956.

I always understood them to be a team that just couldn't get over the hump with that flashy Cousy

Cousy and Sharman were elite.

And:
1972 ECF- lost to great Knicks team
1975 ECF- lost to KC Jones coached Bullets team with Hayes and Unseld
1980 ECF- lost to Erving's Sixers, last game of Maravich's NBA and Cowens Celtics career
2002 ECF- Pierce and Walker almost beat Jason Kidd's Nets
2012 ECF- lost to Heat 3-4 after 3-2 lead
Obviously 2017 ECF

And Ed Macauley was great too.... Without Easy Ed there would be no Russell...Will we remember IT same way? As...he was great in C's uni, and without him there would be no Irving?

Name the player whose only on court appearance as a Celtic was during a playoff game, having never played in any regular season game for the Celtics.

I admire my father for becoming a fan during this era - the rest of us are just bandwagon fans :)

My 3 in 1 question:

1) name two Celtics players who had their number retired, but during Celtics years they wore another uniform number in some years, for example: number 40 retired, but wore number 42 also...
2) who are the only two players listed as PF/C who scored more then 5 3fg in a single game for Celtics, for exaple Antoine Walker was listed SF/PF so he don't count
3) I was on Celtics roster for 6 seasons. After i signed as free agent i had 5 double-doubles in my first 10 games as a Celtics. And then i add only 5 double-doubles till the end of my career. Who i'm i?

Two things:

The big one -- Macauley obviously wasn't on the team that Russell and Heinsohn joined. :)
Also -- he was probably at the end of his prime by then, although he is credited as being central to the Hawks championship.

I mean like Macauley and high pick (Cliff Hagan) was traded for Russell...and IT and Brooklyn pick was traded for Kyrie

Right. Two HoFers traded for Russell. But this branch of discussion was about how good the team was that Russell & Heinsohn joined. So just like Kyrie isn't joining a team with last year's #5 MVP vote-getter on it, Russell didn't join a team that had the all-star Macauley.

Here's something I didn't know -- the guy drafted #3, right after Russell, was Jim Paxson, father of the Paxson twins Jim & John.

Eight Celtics have made first-team All-NBA.

Who are they?

Jim and John were not twins. Jim was 6-6 and born in 1957. John was 6-1 and born, I believe, in 1960. Jim was a first round pick of Portland in 1979 and John I think a first rounder in 1983, but I may have John wrong. Maybe John was drafted by San Antonio? Not sure about that.
