Sounds like they will just guarantee both guys. No one needs them to waive them to clear space anymore. All the big salary guys are off the board now. Boston will look to use them as trade pieces later.

Another thing, the Celtics were very involved in trying to get Boris Diaw. They wanted him badly, but San Antonio was asking for something of value from Boston.

Interesting. Thanks Smitty.

I would've given up James Young for Diaw in a second.

I said they wanted something of value! :)

LOL good point

Well, as bad as Young is, he's at least a more intriguing prospect than Olivier Hanlan.

Or maybe not....

Could change, but Middleton was part of the recruiting pitch for Wade, so unlikely the Celtics will get him.

This is what pisses me off about our situation having all of these assets. Like a certain team would keep asking Ainge for more just because we have more, and not necessarily because it's the fair value of the player they're trading away (/ the value they'd get from another team).

San Antonio probably was asking for the 2017 Nets pick in exchange for Diaw. (exaggeration but you get the point)

DAMN. SO CLOSE.

I 1000% would've gotten a Celtics Diaw jersey.

Long live Diaw.

Maybe he will apologize for putting Rondo's arm in a kimura lock.

[tweet]https://twitter.com/EricPincus/status/751065633517735937[/tweet]Well this makes it even more likely the Celtics don't sign or trade for multi-year deals (unless it's a star):

It's Draft and Free Agency 2017 for the Celtics unless a Star becomes available by the Deadline.
Who could be available is the most interesting question?

The second James Young gets traded to the Spurs he becomes Klay Thompson 2.0

Speaking of Klay, do you think he becomes the odd ball in this new superteam?

He's the one that will surely fall out. Shots are gonna go down, might be tight.

Maybe we can get him? Give GSW Bradley & a big. Smart, Bradley, & Amir? IDK what they'd really want for him, but just saying.
I think the kid can be a legit #1 option. 3 years on a great deal.

Add Klay, & a top 3pick next year, be in a crazy position. IT - Klay - Jae - Horford - #1 - Rozier - Brown - KO - Mickey. Squaded uppp

I don't see it, unless something is going drastically wrong with regards to their depth/front court. The Warriors front office is super high on Klay, wouldn't even consider him to Minny for Love. The only scenario I could see working, would be a 3 way with Miami, Bradley and Whiteside going to GSW, Klay coming here, one of the Brooklyn picks to Miami. I can't figure out a way to make the salaries work however, without GSW sending out Livingston or Iguodala, and idk why they would do that. If GSW has interest in Okafor or Noel, I could see: Bradley and Noel going to GSW, Klay to Celtics, pick(s) + Rozier to the Sixers.

I would love Klay on this team, believe he'd be a 25-30 PPG guy as the #1, but I just don't see it happening.

Win a series or even two.
Get a top 3 pick in a loaded class.
Try go for Westbrook or Griffin with our cap space and ever improving image in the league.
If we get one of the above then trade the pick in a win now move.

This GM thing is easy... :D

I'll go one better:

Win 55 games.
+ Make the ECF and don't get run off the floor.
+ Add the #1 overall pick to an already very good team.
= Take your pick of the available FAs.

Yeah I think that is the plan. Plus taking advantage of teams that freak out and need to make a trade.

I'm surprised he wasn't like "ummm hey guys, let's try to run this 73 win team back." I do think he'll be the one to suffer as far as touches and legacy.

I wonder if certain teams are waiting for Vegas to see how certain prospects look to figure out trades. I know from our perspective I was really curious how Rozier, Mickey, and Hunter were going to look as far as figuring out our rotation for next season. Think other teams may have similar questions before figuring out how they want to proceed. A team like OKC can also check out the top rookies that they could get for Westbrook.
