I got you. Castle instead of Vessell because I think he's a better fit with a Fox/JB backcourt.

I certainly do not want to resign Simons for what he is/was asking. I think around 20 mio you can live with 40 mio is ridiculous...

If we can get a first rounder around 15 for him, we should trade him, IMO.

Niang likely has better chance of sticking than Simons. Not as talented and less trade value perhaps, but just about a perfect role vet to come in, set screens, hit threes at a very solid clip, be a bit of a pest on D.

Remember when the Celtics drafting Brown 100% meant that the Celtics were picking for someone else and a trade was going down soon ? I'm still waiting.

I'm gong to make your perfect trade for you adn keep it simple. Boston trades everyone to the Nets. Gets everyone from the Nets and their five picks plus more picks.

More context

PHI - gets off of Playoff P's money. Obviously in Win Now Mode
UTH - will be in EXTREME tank mode next year (AJ Dybantsa, Utah prodigy)
HOU - trades for Durant (37 yo at seasons start) Win Now Mode FVV, D.White, Amen, Durant, Sengun
SAS - do thay want this deal. Most significant question mark for me.

Spoiler:
I got you. Castle instead of Vessell because I think he's a better fit with a Fox/JB backcourt.

I don’t see what we’d be trying to get for Simons if Portland didn’t want that over Jrue. Jrue is old, money on money, and doesn’t want to go there. If Simons gets a lottery pick+ then what was Por thinking?

The NBA is a strange place!

Just because I want Jrue instead of Simmons or a pick, doesn’t mean he’s worth it, I’m a fan. You can’t trust too much of what I say as a fan! Por must be a fan like me? I didn’t want to give up PP and KG either, I can’t be trusted!

I'd be good at 3y for $75M. Less than what he has been making, so I'm sure he declines.

Kasparas to take over as Celtics POBO in 20 years. He's like Brad's long lost Euro son.

Look... Giannis seems like he'll ask out eventually. OKC eventually has to trade someone. CLE probably breaks it up if they don't get over the hump eventually. So on and so forth. I don't buy this total doomsday scenario some people here push that they won't ever have a good team around Tatum if they trade Brown/White. You get hauls of young players/picks and eventually Stevens will trade them for star(s) if they don't become them on their own. I'm like 95% sure of it. But I don't want to stomach that 5%. Team's already really, really good core. They have the flexibility to keep all of Tatum/Brown/White/Hauser/Pritchard for their deals and all of their 1st rounders while ducking the tax this year and next. It's already a great starting point, no need to tear it down further IMO.

All reports suggest they're handling this appropriately. If they get the godfather offer, they can pull the trigger. But that's unlikely right now.

Unlikely? I would say they would move off brown and white at right price. The Tatum injury is a disaster, but it could help reset the roster and allow the team to compete though his prime .

The KP trade cannot only be about getting under the 2nd apron for money purposes. The Celtics sold low on a contract that expires next year. Do they know this is a long term illness with KP? Can the Hawks rescind this if a potential long term illness is discovered?
Although this answer is a little vague (just answer "no" if they simply can't go over the 2nd apron and are hard-capped in every way.) But it appears this is TPE, if used, will not be anywhere near $22,5 million

Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

WIth the new CBA, it seems like the ideal is to have a supermax player on the third contract (2nd extension), and then a max guy on the first extension.

At the start of those contracts, the supermax guy is the #1 option with the max the #2 option. Then eventually during those contracts the max guy grows into the #1 while the supermax guy becomes the #2 and more of a facilitator. Meanwhile the team hopes to draft and develop (or bring in) a young guy who can grow into the #2 option at a max salary as the supermax guy ages.

That spreads out the money somewhat so that you don't have two on the supermax. I don't think Brad would have pursued this under the old CBA, but under this one I'm betting that's the plan.

With that in mind, the "SAS loves Harper" tweet highlighted above seems like a smokescreen, and thus JB is in play for #2-plus a LOT. SAS is trying to get Boston anxious with talk like that.

White is also very much in play if they think his Playoffs 2027 value can be replaced by then, given how much more valuable he is now.

OKC won with only Shai as a max player, but it was much tighter than it should have been. They seized up enough in the halfcourt offense to give Denver and then Indiana a real chance to knock them off. It's just that they had SO much talent and depth that they could play ferociously on defense to overcome that in a way that, for example, the 2022 Celtics couldn't.

I think they can be overcome, in two years, even with growth offensively, if you have reliable, unselfish first and second options on offense with good depth beyond. Tatum sets a really good example, and a silver lining of the injury is perhaps we wean ourselves from Tatum taking the last shot almost every time. JB of course has been wonderful as the #2, as we saw in his Finals MVP performance. But if the CBA precludes his being with Boston, then they need a younger guy with JB's intangibles to mesh with Tatum.

If the Celtics do that, then players like PP, Hauser, one or two other holdovers, and the rest of the Brown and White hauls should be enough to be championship contenders for another few years from 2026-27 onward.

Maybe or maybe they’ll go over, but didn’t want to stay over it for KP. I don’t know what the owners will do, but it is feeling very “save my money” atm.

The right moves, imo, that are "realistic," are JB to SAS, and D.White to HOU

That is a let's let Tatum sit and just absolutely reload in summer if 26. lol. I am not opposed, but that is risky considering brown and TAtum have proven to be championship level duo.

PP? I just think you keep him.

The more I think about it

Hauser & Pritchard are both 27 and do not rely on athleticism to impact winning. They are both on AMAZING contracts. They should stay for JT's return.

Trade White & Brown, reset financially, tank next year. Watch PP run a team of youngsters, plenty of entertainment for everyone.

Yes. Hauser, issue is where else you get assets and cut? He is like a double reward in that you reduce salary and gain assets for the future. He is only guy on roster that does that and doesn't impact the core.
