Damn. According to Ian Begley it's non-guaranteed too. So barring a trade, Brogdon went from 6MOY to competing with Landry Shamet for a roster spot in 2 years

Kemba and Fournier both had a similar downfall too after leaving Boston. And both played for Knicks after Boston, like Brogdon.

Gallinari, Ojeleye, Carsen Ewards, Enes Freedom, Tristan Thompson, Bruno Fernando, Juancho, Time Lord, Jabari Parker. Tacko, Tremont Waters, Romeo Langford, etc. All guys who left Boston and then their careers in the NBA went down south very quickly. Brad knows when to move on from a player. Grant has done very little after leaving Boston.

Nesmith is certainly the exception, rather than the rule. Good for him.

I agree overall, but most of those guys in the 2nd paragraph weren't all that far north in their careers in BOS either. Grant and Rob excepted.

Well yeah, but they were at least NBA players though. Like, Tacko, Waters, Parker, Ojeleye, Juancho, Romeo, etc. went from NBA player in Boston to out of the league, never to be seen/heard from again by NBA teams..

Thompson was a starter here, left Boston and has basically just been an end of the bench guy, barely hanging on to an NBA roster spot..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Eh, were they? They were late picks / scrap heap pickups that we gave chances to. Semi the best of the bunch.

Thompson/Kanter were already on their downswing.

I agree overall though that we are able to make guys look better and move on at a good time. Just not sure the first paragraph of guys is any different than what any other team does with those types of guys - play them and cut bait.

There's also Brad Wanamaker who was 6th in total minutes played in the 2020 playoffs (on a team that was a couple games away from the NBA finals), then left Boston after that season and was basically never heard from again.

Brad was solid. :) That's a much better example.
Again, I agree with the point, just not the riff raff of Tacko, Waters, Parker, Romeo, etc being the evidence.

Love Tacko the dude, but... I actually was chatting with a buddy of mine during one of his NCAA tournament games and said some poor team is gonna waste a pick and resources trying to develop this guy and it's not gonna work. At least we didn't do the pick part.

He was way more fun than I expected, though, so it was positive overall.

When Malcolm Brogdon left the Celtics, he switched agencies to Klutch Sports but that business relationship seems to be over because this press release names ROC Nation as his agency ... that didn't last long

For sure, he seemed like a good dude but the skill set and mobility left some things to be desired. Tacko time was fun but in a way it was also a little cringeworthy, kind of like when the fans would cheer for Scal like he was a mascot. Good intentioned but always felt a little awkward to me, like treating players like a caricature.

Question.
Only 14 players, tatum included? 13 usable players?
We start the season like that?

I think that's the plan.
There's never enough time for any of the fringe plays, as is. This works out better.

Quite short inside.
Tillman (???), boucher, queta, garza.

Only one real PG, pritchard, not the typical passing guard. Then white and simons (6.3" SG)

Wings scheierman, brown, hauser, minott
Then hugo and walsh.

Guess pritchard simons white scheierman Brown hauser boucher queta are getting a ton of minutes if you want to win 40 games.
I really dont know what to think.
Do we want to win 40 games?
Are we waiting to trade simons in february?
Any hope for tatum in abril? Are we alive at abril?
Are we trying to lose 60 games and pick the hometown boy?
Bridge year. Are we a bridge year team?

Let it play out.

Only one thing is certain and that's the Celtics playing to win every game.

When is Media day? And start of preseason?

I haven't been following the team lately haha. Hope my interest picks up as soon as preseason starts. Need to see something positive out of our new guys.

Yes. Brad typically leaves the 15th roster spot open, for $ savings and flexibility reasons. He usually converts 1 of our 2-way guys late in the season to fill that last roster spot.

Remember we also have our 3 2-way guys (williams, Luis, Shulga) so it's basically 17 players we can use (16 not counting Tatum)..

Houston goes all in, Boston gets tax relief.

Tari Eason for Anfernee Simons. Eason stays through 2027, would be a nice fit to back up the Jays.

There, I said it, roast me.

I'm like 90% certain Houston would rather have eason on their team than Simons.

So you're saying there's a chance?

I'm sure they like to keep Eason, but for a team that was second best in the West last year and needs to eclipse Denver and OKC... IDK... that starting 5 is not OKC-level defensive of course, but da-yum that's an offensive juggernaut, best in the league. Everybody can pass, and the only weakness in shooting is maybe try to leave Thompson open. Sengun would go to work finding shooters. And probably the deepest team, even without Eason.

Sengun/Thompson/Durant/Simons/VanVleet

Adams/Capela/Smith Jr/Finney-Smith/Sheppard
