True but they're both on expiring contracts (assuming green opts out). What non-winning teams would want them?

Maybe.

Very, very classy move by Ainge, if that were the case.

He traded KG and Pierce together to Brooklyn, Rondo to Dallas and Green to Memphis. Heck, he even sent Courtney Lee (also Memphis) and Jordan Crawford (Golden State) to winning situations.

We can all say "well, if Charlotte offered the best deal, (insert player name here) would have been traded to the Hornets," but the track record speaks for itself. Ainge may be cutthroat, but he has a soft spot for his players.

Bass, Jameer and Thornton needs to go in trades.. And then we can cut Gerald Wallace.

Let's bring the tank to another level Danny.

Still have to play the "key games" though.

Like against Philly, Knicks, Lakers, etc. Can't rely on a simulation to lose those.

Great move getting Jeff Green's potential salary of the books for next year. Also moving Wright's salary for no players I believe will help Ainge eat Prince's salary this year in a likely buyout.

Good point. I can only think of a team looking to shed salary, but Danny won't take bad contracts in return at this point (I assume).

You realize Wallace is 4 months away from being a 10 million expiring?

Once the new league year starts, with all out assets, a 10 million expiring holds alot of value.

In other words, Wallace isn't and shouldn't be cut.

Possibly, and I agree it can't help but look good on him, but keep in mind that it's the contenders that are looking to buy what we're selling lately (or, in the case of BRK, teams that 'want' to be contenders!). Consider a baseball team that's always 'selling' at the deadline - not sure that anyone really takes note of it, it's just where the buyers are. Crappy teams with good picks don't want Jeff Green - that's why we just traded him!

Young is "nothing" -? Half this board thinks he will be better then Smart! And he was the first of the many many many picks we got for dismantling our team...

11 first round picks in the next 4 years goes a long way in a rebuild. Nobody sees it now, but we will.

Hopefully Green deal goes through tonight...

Then it is finally time to trade Bass...he is the guy we need to send to a good situation...

Danny Ainge is on a serious rebuild. I'm thinking this is a very, very good decision. Danny can literally mold and craft himself a team from picks and whatever he can get his hands on. It's clear someone has to go at the 3, and it should be the guy who can get the best return.

That being sad, this is going to be a long haul.

U should definitely be able to get a late 1st for a guy who averages 19 ppg....
Good assessment:

I'm not sure he was told that... but he knew it. I don't think he has been purposely tanking it the last few weeks... I think he is just mentally week and since he knew his days were numbered, he couldn't deal.

I think we sometimes forget that there is more at stake here for these guys then just playing for a different team. They have to MOVE. To a whole new city, often with a family, they have ALL new co-workers, new bosses... etc etc etc... it's a DRAMATIC life changing thing... some guys don't have the mental fortitude to deal once the writing is on the wall...

So true....That's the "business side" that they all talk about...

I'm glad for Jeff...he will now have a chance to win a championship while he's still relatively young....this move could also mean money in the bank for him?

He's a good guy and he earned his keep while he was here...good luck to Jeff Green! :)

What? No one is giving up any player with respectable talent for the assets we have to trade. We have a ludicrous amount of 1st round picks over the next few years from other teams, on top of our own picks that I presume will be good. Ainge has never picked too high, and while I agree that his drafting record is somewhat suspect, this is the best position to be in as a rebuilding franchise. Ainge is doing a great job thus far.
