I had made that same comparison regarding his form and release a while back myself. Nice to know that maybe I wasn't reaching to note the similarities. It is really quick and compact. He looks like he could be a nice player. Pretty pleased with what I'm seeing from last year's draft class so far.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Took a look at the rookie scoring so far this year. Brown is 14th. I knew a couple of the names above him were like 25 year olds, so I wanted to do a quick breakdown to see how the whole list looks.

#14 - Brown - 235 pts - .512 TS% - 18.6 USG% - Limited role on 50-win team
#13 - Kuzminskas - 243pts - .560 TS% - 18.8 USG% - 27yoa
#12 - McGruder - 245pts - .484 TS% - 11.4 USG% - 25yoa, very low usage
#11 - Whitehead - 271pts - .479 TS% - 18.1 USG% - long leash on terrible team
#10 - Delaney - 280pts - .484TS% - 19.0 USG% - 27yoa
#9 - Sabonis - 286pts - .504 TS% - 14.3 USG% - legit-ish, low USG, 50-win team
#8 - Harrison - 303pts - .464 TS% - 16.3 USG% - low-ish USG, low efficiency, 50-win team
#7 - Chriss - 330pts - .506 TS% - 19.8 USG% - legit
#6 - Murray - 354pts - .488 TS% - 20.3 USG% - legit
#5 - Ingram - 399pts - .448 TS% - 15.7 USG% - low usage, low efficiency, long leash on terrible team
#4 - Hield - 408pts - .497 TS% - 21.2 USG% - legit
#3 - Brogdon - 420pts - .536 TS% - 17.9 USG% - legit, 24yoa
#2 - Saric - 440pts - .482 TS% - 22.2 USG% - legit
#1 - Embiid - 627pts - .584 TS% - 36.5 USG% - too legit

- The only three with a higher TS% are a 27yo, a 24yo, and Embiid.
- The only two with a higher TS% and a higher USG% are a 27yo and Embiid.

"Legit" here just meaning in the same efficiency ballpark as Brown.

Abdel Nader didn't play tonight, and Demetrius Jackson wasn't all that fantastic.

But Jalen Jones continues to do well. And Ryan Kelly did superb.
If we get any room on the Roster after the Break, then we should bring them up for a bit.

It's actually very discouraging that Ryan Kelly got 19 rebounds.

Reports today are saying there's interest in Yabu and Zizic. How exactly do their rights get used in a trade? They are not part of our roster.

Great to hear that Yabu is getting interest as well. Next year is going to be a lot of fun to watch with all the young talent. I think this team will look COMPLETELY different in about 3 years.

Why include them in a trade?

I would hang on to all 3, Nader included.

NBA trade rumors: Celtics' stashed picks Zizic, Yabusele garnering big interest
By Sean Deveney

The Celtics are, not surprisingly, one of the central teams when it comes to trade discussions as we head toward this month’s deadline, just 22 days from now. If a big name comes up on the rumor mill—Carmelo Anthony being the latest—you can be sure Boston will get a mention. That’s what happens when you own what could be Top 3 picks in the next two drafts, courtesy of the Nets.

But it is almost certain that the Celtics will come out of this deadline period with the Brooklyn picks (they have the right to swap with the Nets this year, and own their pick outright next year) intact. It would take a young, All-Star caliber player to pry those picks from Boston.

The assets being overlooked in discussing potential Celtics deals, though, are the draft-and-stash players the Celtics selected last year when they had three first-rounders and three second-rounders. As much as the Celtics’ trove of picks in the next two years, NBA sources said, it is those players who are attracting pre-deadline attention.

“They did a nice job of getting guys they could develop, and if you know you can’t get the big picks they have this year or next year, the players they took last year, that is where you can get a lot of value,” one general manager told Sporting News.

I want all 3 too. -- Yabusele, might be the one to let go, iff (if and only if) a worthy trade comes forth.

Zizic being considered a top 10 pick in this deep draft is huge. Effectively could be getting two top 10 talents in the next season and hopefully one of those is the first overall.

Makes AD a tad more plausible too

But short of an AD-level talent, the Cs need to keep the true center themselves.

-- Al is a natural PF.
-- Kelly is a natural PF.
-- Jae/Jaylen could become excess SF talent, leading to the use of smallball 4s.
-- Isaiah needs rim-protecting teammates.

The Cs need a "true center" more than most teams do.

Mechanically there's no problem. Just transfer the rights. Really, such rights are about the easiest things to trade; there are no limitations that I know of.

Zizic isn't going anywhere. Watch him play. He's like Brown, except he's got all the tools at the 5 spot, instead of the 3/4. No way you part with him unless Cousins comes back. He's too fundamentally sound at 20 yrs of age to give up. Oh, and his 20 yr old frame ? His friggin' shoulder width goes from one side of the key to the other. This is a hog beast at the 5.

Easily a top 10 pick if he came out this year. That's how well he's progressing. At 20. I bet some teams take him over Giles at this point. He's got a ton of potential.
