Still find this deal bizarre. Philadelphia should have been the motivated buyer, and they have LAL 18, SAC 19, and their own 18... I think we deserved two of them. And send them Demetrius Jackson, maybe Yabu.
This isn't 1 for Parish/Mchale, by any means.
Sounds like the cap jump was shorter than we hoped, we wanted to find a way to shed salary.
The fact we're hearing that our guards were a factor in passing on Fultz...
I'm not thrilled yet, but Ainge has a record of doing things that make more sense with time. I wasn't sold on Jaylen until summer league.
They have access to information we don't. I called the Dwight Howard angle - Fultz is clownish or immature or uncompetitive or something. Love Josh Jackson shading him on twitter a day later.
It's also true most young players take years to develop - I always wondered if we could've drafted Durant and still done the KG trade, how that would've worked out. But since we want to contend now, and not win 50 while the next generation matures in the rotation, getting more trade value makes sense.
We also can't trade the 1 for Jimmy Butler and Paul George, but we can trade the 3 and the LA/SAC pick.
Sounds like we were motivated sellers, though, and realized we wouldn't have the cap flexibility drafting Fultz to make the moves we wanted.
If we keep the 3, I love Jackson, Ball, Tatum, DSJ.
I would call Sacramento to find out how serious they were about trading up, and suss out who they'd take at 3. Then I'd call Phoenix and try to figure out who they're targeting. We could do another trade down to 4 or 5/10 and pick up more assets.
I was skeptical of the Fultz hype, but I'm uneasy about the fact most scouts had him a tier above the rest of the class, with some saying he'd be the best point guard in the league in five years, that he'll keep growing, that he'll have the size to play the 1, 2, 3. And he's as polished a prospect as you could hope for. Funny irony about Kyrie comparisons is that scouts weren't enthusiastic about Irving, and he seemed like more of a maybe than a sure thing.
Anyone have links to Fultz' games against top teams? My point awhile ago was that Fultz at Duke might've looked like Tatum, and Tatum at Washington might've looked like Fultz.
I can believe it's a Fultz-Ball-Jackson-Tatum tier, like the Celtics do. That was my initial instinct. But it's tough to push that against the certainty of the hype train.
3 for Bender/4 so the Suns can get Jackson? 4 for 5/10 so we let the Kings draft Fox?
I'd wonder about 3/Jae for Kristaps, 8. And my dream draft now is 3 for 5/10, Tatum or Jackson at 5, DSJ at 10.
