The Nets literally are signing bums off the street who haven't played in the NBA in years. How can one person be so wrong so often with such confidence? Go watch Reggie Perry, Noah Vonleh, Chris Chiozza when you get a chance. And when Andre Roberson and Iman Shumpert make the court, watch them. THEY SUCK SO BAD THEY HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE LEAGUE FOR YEARS.

dude you are the clueless one. I rarely even respond to most of your posts. but this one I will. look at the amount of minutes played by our scrubs, then you compare a 2nd rd pick and a couple of recently signed scrubs to make a point.

I don't have the time or energy to look up all the other rookies who ARE PLAYING. need I remind you we are a 500% team. And that is coming off a near title RD. Why is that??? Clearly our Super scrub roster. Something that is UNIVERSAL KNOWLEDGE by everyone.

Anything else is just a total waste of time discussing with you.

Nets have no rookies bud. They're not the example.

Jalen Smith, the only guy picked ahead of Nesmith, is stuck behind Crowder/Dario Saric/Frank the Tank all of whom are actually playing pretty good on a team that's 17-10. Oh and the Suns have sent Jalen to the G-League so he can get minutes.

RJ Hampton is behind Jamal Murray/ Monte Morris and Facundo. Still same number of minutes as Nesmith.

Udoka Azubuike is behind Gobert/Favors.

Care to take another stab at it?

The Nets have a whole host of trash at the back end of their roster. What do you mean? I just listed them all. Reggie Perry is a rookie.

What rookie should they play over them?

The whole point was that teams aren't playing trash guys like Teague INSTEAD of their rookies. Nets don't even have any to play over them and if they did, they'd probably be out there.

You're way off base.

Edit: Reggie Perry is the 57th pick. Don't pretend it's the same as a lotto pick.

Don't even bother. Anyone who actually compared a 2nd RD pick like Reggie Perry to our lottery pick is a waste of our time. Thanks for using clear logic in your other post. I don't have time with non sense.

The Celtics should be designing more catch and shoot off ball screen action for Nesmith (one of his supposed strengths), instead of using him like an Ojeleye and camping in the corners. Makes me wish they'd get Reddick just to have someone teach him because I don't feel the coaching staff has been optimizing him on offense.

So far I like the hustle and effort. He’s had a few impressive drives and shown the ability to hit a shot after contact.

Needs to work on finding the open spots on offense. But that will come with time and experience. I would also appreciate if Payton Pritchard would pass him the damn ball. As solid as Pritchard has been , he sometimes acts like he’s back at Oregon and doesn’t move the ball enough. Seen Tatum get on his ass for not passing a few times.

Yup. They ran one set for him against DEN and he nailed it. Would be great to see him be able to consistently hit that (a la Duncan Robinson).

Would love to see Jayson potentially run some similar ones. Need to up his 3 point attempts too.

Ok I'll do the work for you because I'm bored and you make some of the worst posts on this forum with regularity. You defined the scrubs as Green, Edwards, Teague, Waters. Combined they have played 897 minutes for 0.9 WS. Let's look at some other teams and how their scrubs play. I'll have to use my judgment on this one because you didn't mention Fall or Nesmith as scrubs even though they fit the criteria more than Javonte Green and Carsen Edwards. Nesmith has, in his minutes, been worse than everyone else on the Celtics besides Waters (who has only played when the Celtics were missing 3 point guards). Now he's playing minutes, maybe that will change.

Brooklyn: Reggie Perry, Chris Chiozza, Tyler Johnson, Taurean Prince, Landry Shamet: 1156 minutes, 1 WS. Plus Shumpert, Vonleh, Roberson incoming, sure to be absolutely terrible. Some of the worst scrubs in the league getting a lot of minutes.
Sixers: Mike Scott, Paul Reed, Dak Mathias, Furk Korkmaz, Isaiah Joe (plus Terrance Ferguson and VInny P but they're both so awful they can't even get into the games): 934 minutes, 0.5 WS. Awful. Much worse than the Celtics scrubs.
Bucks: Actually pretty good, they've been really healthy and their bums don't really play. Nwora, Jaylen Adams, DJ Wilson, Giannis' brother would be the scrubs to look out for when someone gets injured.
Indy: Aaron Holiday, Ed Sumner and then the rest of the scrubs don't play at all (Lecque, Kel Martin, Cassius Stanley); Note that Lecque and Stanley have been better than Aaron Holiday (who himself has been worse than Teague) so far and they are 20 and a rookie, respectively. Fire the coach.

Every team has all these garbage players at the end of their roster and it's just a matter of health whether they are forced to play them. If you want to look a team up that doesn't have scrubs like Edwards, Waters, Teague, Green, I'd love to hear about it. If the Bucks lost Giannis for two weeks to COVID, Jrue for a month to knee rehab, and now Divincenzo were out for half the season with a torn calf muscle, they'd have all their scrubs playing minutes and looking like ****. Instead everyone is healthy and they are one game better than the Celtics in the loss column.

I've also noticed this about Prichard, He's looked off Nesmith a couple of times.

I say again:

It is now 3 months after the draft. Few rookies in league history have produced as much as Nesmith has so far in the first 3 months after they are drafted ... because most seasons don't start until the draft is more than 3 months old.

Yeah but Javonte Green has played 85 more minutes than him now. There isn't a single reason for this. NONE!

Would be nice to have him running off some screens and getting some looks. Right now Brad just has him running cardio out there and he touches the ball once every like 8 possessions.

Why draft him at 14 if you don’t even know how to use a 3 point specialist? Ideally you’d like to use some of the actions that JJ or Duncan Robinson do, no?

He’s looked better but I hated this pick for the exact reason of me not trusting that Celtics would actually use him correctly as a sniper.

It’s fine. Everything’s fine.

(I’m actually serious, now that he’s playing)

He’s working his tail off and I’m confident whenever he shots the ball.

At 21 years old, Nesmith has now played 50 more minutes than his often-comp Duncan Robinson when he was a 24-yo rookie. In a shortened season where we didn't have summer league, normal offseason, participation in G-League, and practices. We have more than a season left.

Nesmith is looking better and better with each minute. He looked like a deer in the headlights when the season first started, but now he’s out there hustling, not afraid to shoot, and not afraid to attack close outs off the dribble. He is going to get a 20 point game at some point during this season. I’m not worried at all.

Nesmith has looked like an NBA player now that he is getting some minutes he needs to be more aggressive on offense but when he is in with the subs the ball movement is so bad that he does not yet know where to go to get shots becuase no one is setting him screens like he got in college, more passing and screens from our 2nd unit would lead to more scoring for everyone involved. Now that he is settled in he clearly won't be a long term defensive liability and looks to have plus athetiscm. He needs more shots, he is not taking enough.

Nice video here, shows how much he helps the spacing just by being on the court.

Nesmith's ORtg is 95. Pretending that he were actually hitting his shots with the percentages we'd want might not even push it to 100. So that video, while it has merit, is more about future possibilities than the reality of Nesmith's short career to date.

That said -- I believe the possibilities are real, and achievable soon. But he'll probably have to be taking more shots, and hitting them at a rate that keeps the defense's respect, for them to actually come true.

I'm glad he's getting mins and looking decent finally but geez I'm getting tired of the Cs drafting offensively gifted players out of college only to turn then into hustle defensive specialists off the bench. I mean come on, we didn't draft Nesmith to be Thybulle. Get the guy some offensive touches. 8% usage in Feb for the best shooter in the draft
