Brad is going to have to prepare for some backlash if the Nets end up accepting a middle ground offer lol.

16-17 and 21-22 C's have been some of my favourite seasons all time and I think there's a common theme there.
You guys wanna have KD and Tatum be the leaders of a championship team? The dude that can't face adversity and the guy the crapped the pants for us in the finals?
Or maybe you're underestimating how much fun it would be to watch KD and Tatum on the same team.
Also, we've won 1 title in the modern era. I think you're overestimating how much fun it is to come up short every year.

I appreciate that Goodman has some current insight behind the scenes, but don’t have any opinion on his opinions (you may remember I’m not a Beal fan so I’m not impressed there).
It’s Ryan who’s opinion I will always value even if he dates back to the era when Celtic Pride was a thing.
Just thought this was a good listen.

We could get rid of JB’s soft moaning attitude, sense of entitlement and off court focus for one of the best players of all time?

Re: Poll: would you trade JB for KD?
I feel like a JB for KD trade would be like if Bird demanded a trade after losing to Pistons in ECF 1988 and the Bulls offered Pippin. I’m sure the league would have been terrified of a Bird/MJ combo after Bird had his highest scoring season at age 31. 4 years later Bird was out of the league and was never the playoff hero he used to be ever again - except for in a meaningless game against Pacers. Meanwhile Pippin had an historic 10 year run.
Durant has benefit of superior training know how, dietary advice and whatever supplements that keep these guys in peak condition and he also plays a lot less recklessly than Bird but his playoff drop off this year was even more noticible than Bird’s was back then. Durant will probably be like Chris Paul the next 2 years - great in regular season and then keep your fingers crossed that he holds up in playoffs. I think it is too risky based on age and health alone. When you factor in JB work ethic, KD unhappiness in general, Tatum’s ascendancy and leadership potentially being stunted and the fact that our entire team right now are all similar in age and similarly hungry…..I don’t want to do it.
For sure if it happens, our team will be shoe-ins to win it all this year and as a fan we all live for the present. Additionally, if Durant stays with Nets they could easily be a team that stands in our way with a healthy Simmons and Harris and the additions of TJ and Royce. Which is exactly why this trade is dead in the water.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Let's factor in Jaylen's work ethic. What is his work ethic value in absolute terms and compared to the league (percentile)? I would really like to know this, seeing as Jaylen's work ethic is brought up constantly.

Good luck with that. KD’s work ethic is also touted so I’m sure he will not decline more rapidly because of partying, unnecessary injuries due to poor conditions etc. and I’m sure he is a great role model to teammates in that regard as has been reported. I only point out JB has a solid work ethic and drive to get better because he has become a far more complete player than the stand in the corner 3 and D guy we thought he was in year 2 and that developmental arc appears to be ongoing which is not always true for many players.

Re: Poll: would you trade JB for KD?
KD is a Top 10 all time great turning 34 in September.
JB is a 1 time all star, with tendinitis, who is looking at max dollars soon, and who is relatively limited as a playmaker.
Personally, I believe JB is an incredible success story but with Jason Tatum as our max priority, I'd take a shot with KD at age 34, 35 and 36 as I would've with many many NBA greats as they rounded the last quarter-mile.

The player that may match up best with KD physically is Abdul-Jabbar. Both fitness freaks, both lean and both amazing. Kareem joined the Lakers in 1976 and he turned 34 in 1981. If you can get KD for JB you do it.

what year is it over in London?
2022 where NBA players get paid a fortune many times over, can force tradessit out yet have a little moan when they are rumoured as the main piece in a trade for one of the best players of all time. It’s ridiculous at times really.

As someone who would do the deal in a millisecond, when has Jaylen given any indication that he’d be a problem? Kyrie’s disaster last season here? That was everyone on the team lol.

Durant used to be one of the best players of all time. Now, I'm not so sure. Huge gamble.
If the package were JB, White and a pick I could live with it. But when additional pieces start getting added, I'm out. Depth matters.

Then just get rid of salary cap and go out and get former #1 picks to play backup center, Forward and PG (who is also a top 5 all time player) and you can duplicate that success. But if you need MVP caliber Durant over the next 4 years, the playoffs this year suggest to me his decline is well under way.
Maybe he was tired from the way Nash played him and if you are sure that is true and that the tank is still full….maybe you take that risk. I prefer not to. I agree completely with Curmudgeon.

Kareem is an interesting — if optimistic — comparison for an aging KD. Very different games. How about Dirk or our own KG?
