Yeah, I think it's a decent deal because it gives us a real center, when we have depth at the 4 spot... I'd do it if OKC would..

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
I still really think Bass is the odd man out... Sully and Olynyk both need big minutes, Zeller is probably starting at center and I doubt we are considering keeping him around long term
I had a look at a few options we might have as far as moving him some more realistic than others, bit of food for thought... what do you guys think?

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Mahinmi's out three months, good opportunity to trade Bass.. I think something's going to happen with us and Indiana, they're one of the few teams (along with Denver, Brooklyn and maybe Sacramento) who would benefit from all our expiring contracts.. Hibbert, West, Hill in, expirings and Wallace out, plus the LAC and CLE picks and maybe Pressey..

What a nightmare year for Indy. I was never a big Mahinmi fan, but he was pretty good for them last year. Big part of their defensive success.
Wonder if they'd take Anthony off our hands to fill in while Mahinmi's out.

I think this is an interesting base to a Rondo trade. Add a player here or there and a pick or two exchanging hands.

Gotta fix that link, or at least sum up the specifics.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
If the plan is to make a playoff run, they might as well try to trade for Josh Smith...
First it would make Rondo happy. 2. They get a much needed rim protector. 3. They might be able to deal off Wallace, which would still save Detroit some money.
With the cap likely to go up signficantly in 2016, I don't see the addition of Smith hurting cap space..

Oh whoops, haha. Anyway the basic framework of the deal is Rondo to ATL - Teague to MIL - Henson, Payne and picks to us.

I don't like Henson as the center-piece in a Rondo trade (he's not very good despite the gaudy numbers) - Larry Sanders is the better big man on Milwaukee.

I like Larry too but taking Henson gives us more salary flexibility and he has the tools to be as good as Larry on defense, plus he has more of an offensive skill set even if it's not exactly great. Sanders could easily end up being a bad contract, I don't think we should gamble on that if we're trading away our best player. This isn't really a sexy package but I'm operating under the idea we're not going to get any blue chippers back for an expiring Rondo.

Henson has some of the tools, but he probably won't put them together for another year or two, if ever, and if he does, he'll be up for a bigger extension than what Sanders is making.
It's a good idea for a 3 teamer though. I could definitely see Atlanta going for Rondo and Teague is an attractive piece for Milwaukee.
But I'd rather just go for Sanders from Milwaukee and pair him with Rondo. Something like Wallace, Young, Zeller and a decent pick for Sanders would work for me.
With Sanders at the 5 (and Smart off the bench), we'd be a vastly improved defensive team, maybe even top 5. A much better bet to make the playoffs and retain Rondo. But even if we lost Rondo, Sanders is a nice long-term fit at a position of need.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Just scouring the league for Center possibilities. Meyers Leonard has not developed in Portland, contrary to what was expected of him. He will be the 4th string center on a contender and would be better off getting minutes on a developing team. But he is 7'1" , only 22, and on a rookie contract, so not too expensive and worth a shot. Same class as Zeller. Portland is hard capped so maybe they would take cap relief--someone they can dump immediately. Or maybe they could use a sound rotation big like Bass behind Aldridge.
If anyone can salvage Leonard, it is Brad. Here is his draftexpress profile:

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Newly signed to qualifying offer Greg Monroe, for comparable salary (Bass?) and a couple of picks.

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Monroe can veto any trade, we wouldn't have Bird rights... Giving up two picks would be nuts...

Monroe is certainly not worth a couple of picks. Especially on a QO with no bird rights deal. Why some are so high on this small handed, non rim protecting defensive sieve of a big man is beyond me.

True, and I'm really not sure what kind of money Monroe will demand, I'm guessing it will be anywhere between 10 and 14 mils, if it's over 12, he'll be really overpaid, I don't see him as a guy who can be ur number 1 or 2 option on a championship team....
I'm just not too high on him, but hey, who am I to say that right, maybe Danny likes or maybe he doesn't... Anyhow I think the Monroe discussion are getting out of hand.. We haven't heard the guy being linked to the C's at all....
I'd much rather go all out on a guy like Marc Gasol than give nearly the same to Monroe, although Marc is much older, he's a far superior player.
Good assessment:

Re: Trade Ideas Thread
Most I'd give for Monroe would be Bass + a 2nd rounder LOL and a choice between Johnson or Babb.

That's too much. Maybe a 2019 second rounder that is top-58 protected, and rights to Ben Pepper.

Sadly, not possible. A pick cannot be protected for more than 55 picks in a draft.
cbafaq wrote:It is common to "protect" picks depending on their position (for example, "we keep it if it ends up in the lottery, otherwise you get it"), although no more than 55 picks in a single draft can be protected (for example, a top-55 protected pick is legal, but a top-56 protected pick is not).
But we could probably do something like swap rights for our 2019 2nd, top-55 protected, and then, if conveyed, we get their 2020 2nd.

Bass, Anthony to SAC for Jason Thompson, Mclemore?
