Re: The Trade-Mill - Trade Thread Part Infinity
Prior to the trade deadline, the Boston Celtics expressed interest in obtaining Anthony via a trade with the Knicks, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.
It is unclear if there were any formal discussions between New York and Boston and if those discussions ever reached an advanced stage. But Boston was informed that Anthony had no desire to leave the Knicks via trade to play for the Celtics, sources say.

LOL--- it's going to be funny to watch him lose to the Celtics for the rest of his overrated career. Honestly, talk about one of the ALL-TIME losers in NBA history.

Would a Durant and Melo work well together ? . I also can't believe Melo didn't waive his no trade clause to come to the Celtics. Celtics are a great franchise, Boston is a big market city . Plus we have lots of assets to bring in another star player . I don't think Melo cares about winning a championship.

I do not want to trade the Brooklyn pick-- no matter where it falls-- for anyone except a bona fide two-way star. I like Jaylen Brown and Poeltl, and I love Bender. That pick may yield a potential star even if it drops to #6.
Folks should stop trying to replicate 2007. There is no KG on the market right now.
Don't want to trade the pick either, but have you not seen Griffin the past two years? He's expanded his game significantly and plays decent defense.

Players don't want to play here. Until i hear a star player say he would like to play here and then actually sign here we will have to hope for a top 2 pick.

Same here. Sad that players don't want to play for one of the best franchises in sports.

Melo stands to gain roughly 7 million dollars by delaying his inevitable trade until this July-- he wasn't waiving his NTC for anyone.

Melo's disinterest in Boston has nothing to do with Boston.
Not sure how much Ainge is really interested in acquiring a soon-to-be 32 year old with knee troubles. Guessing he'd offer late 1st rounders and little more. Certainly not a missed opportunity to shed any tears over.

This. Melo was never going to agree to a trade to any other team this year. He would leave too much money on the table. But now that the deadline's past, expect to hear him grumbling for the rest of year to set up a trade in the offseason when his trade kicker will hike up significantly.
And cool it with the whole "Players don't want to play here" schtick. That's got nothing to do with this particular situation.

Re: The Trade-Mill - Trade Thread Part Infinity
Melo is all about the money. Don't buy into that "I want to win in New York" garbage that he's spewing right now. He'll be open to getting traded after this season is over because he'd be eligible to get most of his trade kicker (normally it's capped, where your salary and trade bonus can't exceed a maximum salary). Due to the cap jumping next season, the amount that Melo would be eligible for with respect to a max contract jumps up, meaning he's likely to get most of his trade kicker.
By the way, this is what Melo's salary looks like if he gets traded:
2016/2017: $30,300,000
2017/2018: $31,984,380
2018/2019: ETO $27,928,140
Just say no to Melo. He's garbage. I would have kept David Lee over him.
EDIT: TheRev72 beat me to it.

It doesn't matter what Melo wants. LaLa has a very successful career in NYC as an actress, model, writer, producer, etc. It has been widely reported that she won't leave NYC, and if she stays, Melo stays, unless the proposed trade is to the Nets.

whoever is reporting doesn't know the whole story. It was most likely trying to bring in the Knicks as a 3rd team to get Melo to Cleveland and Love to Boston.

Agreed. New York writers have to have something to write about. It can't be the Knicks. I'm sure Ainge has no interest in paying Melo $90 million over the next 3 years when he will be 32-34 years old.

Re: The Trade-Mill - Trade Thread Part Infinity
everyone so salty about having david lee eat up 15m for a 1 year rental for the cost of absolutly nothing. Imagine the reaction of paying somebody 30m for 3 years who isn't healthy and does less to help you win than Lee at a cost of multiple first round picks and young players.
Yeah, say no to Melo at this point, maybe 2 years ago it was worth getting him to attract that other pierce in free agency or trade like Ray was, but that time has passed. I'm pretty sure most NBA players know you don't go to play with Melo to win ball games.

Uff that could be huge...he still can win a game or two, could be a difference between 4th or 5th record...maybe even 3rd or 4th if somehow PHO gets a few wins, which I highly doubt!

Joe Johnson is pretty much the reason why the Nets have been abnormally good in games decided by three points or less over the last two years. Should help us.
