Jaylen Brown said the bruised thigh isn't anything serious, although he said likely be shut down for rest of summer league.

From all looks of it, Jaylen shut it down about 4 games ago.

Yeah cause he didn't carry the team I the early going tonight or anything.

The "Jaylen sucks" crowd will probably have representatives in Springfield if he ever makes the HoF.

HOF? Lol. There is sucks, average, good, great. He happens to be somewhere avarrage for a NBA player.

It's not about stats. And just because Butler started slow and turned out to be an all star doesn't mean everyone can do the same.

I'm going off what I currently see from Brown. That's an average NBA starter. Will he be an all star? Maybe. Maybe not. This board hypes him up so much from when he got here a year ago.

Not that SL means anything, but he had a better SL last year as a rookie.

SL games for Jaylen in Vegas this year:

Game 1: 4-13 shooting
Game 2: 4-13 shooting
Game 3: 2-7 shooting

10-33 combined in 3 games. Against SL competition. That's Marcus Smart bad without the handles, court vision, passing or heart.

We won't talk about his passing, court vision, or dribbling.

How when people call out Jaylen, they are part of the "Jaylen sucks" crowd. Jaylen doesn't suck. He is average. And with a better roster, if he doesn't show improvement fast, he won't be getting more minutes.

Here is hoping to Jaylen going from average to above average.

He was more raw than Butler. Danny appears to love him. Brad as well. I trust they know what they have and what he can become. In this summer league he is being asked to do more as a floor general. I see him trying to get guys in position and at times losing his place, which in turn looks like he's lost on D. You can feel a difference when he is not on the floor.

Jaylen Brown needs time. He's not a shot creator right now. He's decent on the pick n pop, catch n shoot from the corner n strait away and ISO post ups against mismatches. Right now that's his good offense. He's made some terrible turnovers this summer league where I don't even feel like giving credit for the other team stealing it even though it counts as a steal.

I'm worried that Jaylen is going to wind up Jeff Green 2.0. He's just got poor feel offensively. Everything looks too premeditated. Now, the good news is for the foreseeable future, all he has to do is hit spot up shots, attack the glass, play D and occasionally drive past guys closing out on him, but long-term I do worry a lot about his ability to break down a set defense.

The one area he seems to have a good feel and vision from is the post, of all places. That's actually kind of why I like him most as a SG - he can use his size to (A) help offset IT's lack of size and (B) post up smaller players on the block. To stick as more of a wing than a forward, though, he's got to improve his passing and handles.

People bumming on him because hes messing around trying to play the 1 in summer league like hes done that all his life. Its clear hes experimenting with some new things right now trying to show his versatility. A lot of what showed as success during the regular season isnt showing right now because of that.

Thank you. Let's not act like he's a month removed from guarding Lebron James or anything. Summer league is at most an indication of potential, and we've already seen this dude operate during the regular season. Stud.

He's out there to 1) polish specifics of his offensive game, 2) be a leader with these young guys, and 3) mesh with Tatum.

I was actually looking at the TV when #36 was chosen and saying, "Yes! We get Bell!" But, yeah, temporarily forgot that the team's system requires everyone to have some semblance of a J. Danny has repeatedly stuck to his guns when challenged about getting "rim protectors" who don't have an offensive game.

Semi has turned into a nice consolation prize. The team already has two many players at that type of position, but then again, that's also part of the system: versatile swing/big tweeter types in that 6'6" to 6'9" range.

If Semi has a good camp it could make other players expendable. I think he may end up a minor steal at his draft spot -- not an allstar or starter, but a solid role player that fans will love to root for.

Pretty much this. He shouldn't be playing PG at all, at least not now. I'm not worried about him. I usually don't worry about players unless they are in their 3-4 year and haven't shown any progress. I think Brown could start at the 2 next season, he will have 3 months to improve on his overall game after SL.
Good assessment:

To be an "Average" NBA player at only 20 years old should be something celebrated not put down for. He's only 20. Give him another 3 years and if he's still average by then we can start to worry then. But too early for that right now.

People are expecting wayyyyy too much improvement out of him in a short period of time.

While I agree that his feel for the game and his moves can be a bit mechanical, he's not going to suddenly improve those things overnight.

A month or so ago he was in the NBA playoffs. He would have absolutely had some time off too. So at best he's probably had 3-4 weeks to improve his game and then you take away summer league and it's probably closer to 3 weeks.

You are not making significant progress in 3 weeks. I remember Curry in 2013 returning with significantly improved handles. He was already a good ball handler but with the lockout and then his ankle issues the nest season he'd probably spent at least 10 months working insanely hard. The next season he looked like almost a completely different player with the way his handles allowed him to do what he wanted on the court.

Same goes with guys like Love and Westbrook who spent insane amounts of time to get better.

It doesn't happen over night.

Yes Butler is not the norm either so I get why people say it's a bit silly to constantly bring his improvement up. However we're also ignoring that Jaylen's situation is far from the norm. Typically a guy like him gets drafted and is presented with far more opportunity to put up stats from an early stage. With where we are Jaylen was pretty much relegated to being a three and d guy. Now long term he might end up a smarter player defensively especially than others in his class as a result but he'll probably take longer to develop his offensive game because he's not getting the touches that other rookies get that allow them to feel comfortable in the NBA creating offence.

He can really pass too. Can function a lot like Green, rolling off screens and either attacking the rim or kicking to shooters on the move.
