Utah ain't piss without Gobert. Anchors that teams defense. And always a real threat for a lob on offense. Can't take your eyes off him for a second, make that a half-second.

A few thoughts on this:

We know for a fact that basically every elite NBA prospect in the last 40 years has gotten paid under the table to choose which college to play at. Even for prep academies. Whether this case has merit or not, or is provable or not, the idea that this practice ends at the pro level is almost certainly ludicrous, especially in light of the restrictions of the salary cap. We know for a fact that literally everything this guy is alleging about West is the norm for the college recruiting of top prospects, and has been for some time.

While I'd bet that it is fairly common practice throughout pro sports in general, this is orders of magnitude worse than anything the Astros did in terms of cheating, which in itself was orders of magnitude worse than anything the Patriots did, which was itself orders of magnitude worse than tampering with soon-to-be free agents or other things that are deemed to adversely impact the notion of fair competition. All of which is also likely fairly common practice within pro sports.

Also kinda makes you wonder about Durant taking an 8-figure number lower than his max to play for the Warriors for a few years, because of the unique "investment opportunities" in Silicon Valley. A decision he came to after talking with Jerry West, who seems to have a pretty unique ability to get superstar players to sign with the teams he is representing.

This... may get ugly.

What I've been saying about the Lakers for a while. They were a **** show and were going to continue being a **** show, LBJ saved them.
Good assessment:

Which is worse - 205m to Gobert or 120m to Hayward?

Gobert is 5 years, or an average of 41M per year.

Hayward is 4 years, or an average of 30 M per year.

Gobert will likely play a lot more games than Hayward. Hayward seems to "break" every 30 games or so. Muscle pull here, ankle twist there, knee wrench, finger, calf strain, something. I expect Hayward to have a major physical issue. I can't say that I expect that from Rudy.

Would trade Walker and Theis in a second for Gobert.

Yay no more "let's trade for Gobert" comments, hopefully.

So Gobert had one year left on his current deal and signed a 5 year extension? So they are locked into 6 years of Gobert at basically max money with a possibly decreasing cap? Yikes, that contract is already one of the worst in the NBA and it is 12 months away from starting. Mitchell is really, really good but giving that much of your cap to those two players seems like a recipe for a perennial 6th seed.

I lived in Washington with and without basketball they want it back badly I even know the supersonics guy who every day walks in full regalia and a sign bring back our team. Pretty cool guy to be honest big afro and smoke the dankest stuff.

I think Nashville is high up on the list for basketball (and baseball) since its population has exploded too. I think they should get a team before Vegas imo.

Would be great to have the Sonics back. Key Arena is being updated already for the Kraken and there's just way too much money in the area to ignore, so it just seems inevitable. I really, really hate that they caved on the shared history stuff when Bennett stole the team. I still boycott Starbucks to this day. Which, to be fair, is really easy, cuz their coffee sucks.

The Grizzlies should move to Nashville. With the exception of Beale Street, which is mostly a tourist trap, downtown Memphis is dead. Nashville is a much more vibrant city. The Bridgestone Arena, where the Predators play, is a decent venue, although it is not as new as the FedEx forum in Memphis.

Along with Seattle, I think Louisville should be high on the expansion list. There are no other pro teams there, and Kentucky is a basketball state. The ABA Kentucky Colo0nels were a very successful franchise there, and the KFC Center seats 22,000-- more than any NBA facility-- and it was designed specifically for basketball.

lmao Wiseman. Clanks from 1 foot inside the three, then fouls Durant on the three point attempt. Beautiful basketball.

Yeah if they get to play against Wiggins, Wiseman, and Paschall all season.

They have prime KD and Kyrie Irving with a good supporting cast. They're gonna be a problem regardless of who they play

Yeah Brooklyn will be really good.

Health the biggest factor for them with Kyrie & Durant obviously but that's a deep team.
