This could strengthen the T Wolves against the Celtics but they have to get by Dallas, OKC, etc.

Celtics open the season against the Knicks and now they can roll out Kat against Horford...
Knick fans will be very enthused.

Ehhhh, not really. Both Ant and Randle need the ball. Shooting is worse. Both bigs operate inside which clogs Ant's driving lane. That lineup sucks offensively actually.

Aggo - Knicks Board
I watched Boston
I watched us
and my only logical conclusion was, we needed KAT to beat them. specifically how they play defense and switching.
play 5 out.
we would've never beaten Boston playing Mitch or ihart as a starter.

We might be the victims of something similar once we unload our big guns. The super high paryroll is just not sustainable. Funny enough, Wolves are bringing in new owners too. This move is largely $$-based.

Re: Around the NBA (and other Sports), 2024-25
Seems like a luxury tax move by the Wolves to me more so than that they wanted Randle. It’s KAT for DiVincenzo + FRP (that may never even convey) … but the Wolves get massive tax relief when Randle declines his option after the year. Maybe they even flip Randle again before the deadline. Donte has a pretty sweet contract for the next three years, he’s like making $11-$12 a year
EDIT: Honestly, thinking about it for a few minutes here, it seems like the Denver Nuggets are the winner of this trade, lol

Doenst really move a needle.
On paper they got better on O fit wise but they just lost Donte who was shooting like 10 3s a game and was huge hustle guy with that.
Cant say that about KAT and he gets trigger happy for 3

I think the Wolves are getting the Pistons #1 pick which they dealt to the Knicks in a previous trade. If that's the case, then it's the other way around. Moreover, Randle could be entering his contract year, assuming he doesn't pick up his $30mil player option. KAT is locked up for four years ($61mil player option on the fourth year) so this is a huge salary dump.

That 1st is pretty heavily protected I think, as in it's almost sure to be a 2nd instead. I mean, it's obviously a salary dump. But it feels like they should have got more

Re: Around the NBA (and other Sports), 2024-25
KAT fits great offensively for the Knicks. They went from probably playing a Randle/Robinson 4/5 which provides zero spacing to now a Brunson/Hart/Bridges/OG/KAT starting five that will provide very good spacing around Brunson. Thats a pretty good lineup offensively.
Defense will be a bigger issue. They now have a mediocre at best defensive center in KAT who can be attacked combined with an undersized PG who can be attacked. That puts a lot of defensive pressure on the wings to not only guard their guy but help on defense as well. And that's the difference of Knicks vs Celtics, Celtics get the awesome spacing while also having no weak links on defense.
As for the Wolves, this feels like a money move. They save about 10 million this year in straight salary which is A LOT of luxury tax. Randle and DVV are good players, even if their fit is weird. A Randle/Gobert front court really lacks shooting.

Light work... If Porzingod is available for the playoffs, nobody comes close... We'd abuse these guys.
C's in 5.

Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

I truly believe this C's squad is one of the greatest teams ever assembled... With very little to no faults.

Agree.
A case of one step forward and one step backward.

The ideal would've been to swap Randle for a big.
By losing DiVincenzo, the Knicks lost a shooter and some good defense.

You're delusional if you don't think this a tremendous trade for the Knicks. Got the best player in the deal and didn't give up any studs. Cs are probably still somewhat better but Knicks have closed the gap.
Horrendous trade for the Wolves, has to be that they weren't willing to pay for a contender and choose to salary dump.
