And it's more difficult to become an All-Star in the loaded West. He's only going to get more efficient playing for his ex-coach in a better system. I wouldn't be surprised if he surpasses Butler and George during his time with the Celtics. His numbers were already comparable to both this past season.

Beat me too it. I mean, you couldn't google for 40 seconds before posting that?

Sorry dude, but that type of comment should make you unable to participate in the big boy discussions for at least a year. However, I don't make the rules and you can stay and play. Just think before you post as you will only end up with the wrath that is known as RealGM geniuses. And, no, that does not include me

Marc Stein losing a lot of cred with this rubbish.

For the love of a higher power, WTF is he talking about? Winning culture? How about once LeBron left, they were done. How about once Shaq left they were done. Now it's Whiteside and Dragic? This world has **** lost it's mind. Stein is officially an ESPN brainwashed tool.

Winning culture?!?!?....are they talking historically? If they are, they are competing with the wrong franchise in that regard.

As soon as I saw that as a rationale, the credibility of that report went right out the flucking window.

If he goes anywhere, and I think he is, it's here.

So is Hayward our #1 target? I'm beginning to think that even with his injury history that Blake might be a better fit for us, even though I'm good with Hayward. Has there been any recent talk about Blake signing here?

Nada. Nothing legit/concrete. On the surface, it makes sense that Brad's first call on July 1 is Hayward, but that shouldn't prevent Danny from calling Griffin at the same time. Work out the hows later.

That I know, he played on all star team .. But he is not an all star player .. My opinion wise HE IS NOT AN ALL STAR player! Even if we sign him we won't beat the Cavs lol yet everyone will create threads about trading him.. Hayward fell well short of making any of the three All-NBA teams... U wanna sign this player ... Hell Na .. I think u might be in coma to ever think of signing this useless player ..

You should've clarified your comment from the beginning about him not being an all-star. You stated it as if it were fact. I apologize about the snarky coma remark.

It's one thing to think Hayward won't help in beating the Cavs on in his own. It's another to call him useless, which he isn't. What's your preferred plan with the cap space then? Or just a general course you want the Celtics to pursue this offseason?

Yes please om Hayward. He was as good as George and Butler, but he wont cost us any.assets and he has legit size at SF which is something we are missing.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Considering that Jaylen wasn't even a factor last year, we essentially have like three top 5 picks coming to a team that was already better than the Heat were last year. With a better coach. And multiple other good picks on the way. Plus two 1st round Eurostashes. And all of these assets can be used in major trades.

The Celtics are already the #1 seed in the East.

And most importantly we best Miami 7 out of 8 times the past 2 years.

Well this is the NBA manifesto, they made a congrats card out of a picture where he is making an illegal dribble... Fantastic, they don't even try to hide this s**t anymore.

2nd best? Is James Young staying in the Eastern Conference?

Anyway, listened to latest Locked On Jazz episode -- David Locke, the Sean Grande of the Jazz, doesn't sound confident either about Gordie's chances of staying (10:15 mark). He believes the incumbent team is at a distinct disadvantage since the FA knows all of the team's warts and may carry with him or remember the bad things he's experienced with his current team while he gets a clean slate with suitors like Heat and Celtics. In Hayward's case -- didn't like rebuild, didn't appreciate how he wasn't offered the max from the beginning during his RFA, some **** about having a bad locker during the All-Star game because he was a member of the Utah Jazz (not sure if this is true lol), etc.

To be fair, you take the best players off any team and they won't be good anymore. Also, they have more championships than us in the last 20 years.

We are not talking about just the best players on a team. We are talking about the best in the world and once in a lifetime generational talent. And I was talking about one player from each year, not players.

The taxes doesn't really work like that. They pay state taxes depending on where the games are played, for starters. So it is much less of an advantage than people have claimed.

It's a significant advantge. First, NBA teams play 41 home games. So (in the case of a player on a Florida team) 50% of current earned income is apportioned to Florida. Some is apportioned to other states with no state income tax, e.g. Texas. Second, Hayward almost certainly has income from a portfolio of investments made from the money he earned in prior years (unless his agent is a complete boob). In Massachusetts, cap gains from those investments are taxed at !2%, which is tacked on to the federal rate. (Short-term cap gains are taxed by the feds as ordinary income. Long-term gains are taxed at 20% for taxpayers in the highest brackets.) Third, any dividends from stock or other investments are not taxed in Florida. Neither are royalties or any other form of income characterized as "ordinary" by the IRS. Fourth, depending on where he lives, local property taxes are much lower in Florida. Municipal services are cheaper (e.g. no snow removal, lower labor costs) and per pupil expenditures in the schools are lower.

Of course there are tradeoffs. If he comes to Boston and lives in Weston, Wellesley or one of the other toney Western suburbs, he can send his kids to the public schools, which are outstanding. If he lives in the Miami area, he probably has to put them in private schools if he wants the best education for them. Also, states with no income tax tend to have regressive state sales taxes. He will pay no sales tax in Massachusetts on food purchased in a grocery store (with some exceptions) although he will pay 6.25% on restaurant meals. In Florida the tax is 6% on everything.
