I think they need to keep Tacko protected and not take a chance on waivers be a 2 way player or on the 15 man roster. This is a unique situation and it is well worth the 15th spot. How long did the Celtics hand onto James Young and Yabu? Tacko at least has a chance of being more than a novelty, and possibly an impact player at a position of need

Agreed. I think Tacko's as good as already on the team. Keeping the door open to suspense might have helped attract and motivate their training camp/Red Claws riff-raff.

I think the Celtics are just keeping roster flexibility at this point. Feel like at the roster deadline we cut green and sign taco to a 1 and 1 deal or we cut Struss and convert to two way. Can’t imagine him not making the roster.

What Tacko needs to develop more than anything else is playing time. If he can actually get meaningful minutes sign him. If you think he'll end up stuck at the end of the bench only seeing rare garbage time let him sellout games in Maine and save him for next year.

There is no way he’s not on the roster. None. If they were to try to sneak him on a 2 way, a small market team would be foolish not to sign him to a guaranteed deal

I agree 100%, but I never underestimate this team's love for undersized PFs and small guards. :banghead:

I’ve been calling it since page 1.

Might take some time, but Tacko is going to be a star.

For the PR alone I don't see how they don't keep him. People flat out want to see him play. Some other scrub on the final bench spot is not bringing that value to the franchise. It's still a business on top of the actual game.

That is why they would not likely send him to G-League even if they wanted to. He is just too good for regular season ratings....until maybe the opposing team figures him out and he would later be useless to play. Or maybe when the fans get tired seeing him. Or when the hype goes down.

I think he would spend the entire year in the G league, he would do quite well playing next to a true PG like Waters too. They will still clean up on merchandise no sweat. Tackos ability to sell merch basically makes his contract free. It’s an absolute no brainer.

Honestly I’d like to see nearly all the rookies make the squad. Green and Waters deserve to be on the 15 man over Wanamaker and Semi but I can’t see Boston carrying 7 rookies. That would be insane

Pretty sure that because of the exhibit 10, no sneaking or risk is needed to convert to 2 way

Can you name the most impactful 15th man in Celtics history? Check it... can you name one impactful 15th man in Celtics history?

Make Tacko the 15th man, you cowards. If you can't give us banner 18, give us Tacko.

Spoiler:
But why not both.

I wanted to cite Glenn McDonald, but it turns out he was 8th in minutes in the regular seaason before becoming a playoff end-of-bencher.

No guarantee Tacko makes the 15th man roster. None.

Why are people so bothered by this? He either makes the team or he doesn’t.

If Tacko plays well he won't be the 15th man in minutes played--either for the regular or the post-season.
