I like this trade idea. Like a LOT. Even if Garnett plays zero minutes for the Celtics and just be around our young guys, it would be more beneficial than having Anthony in the locker room/bench or Bass taking minutes away from Sully/Olynyk.

Yeah I don't think KG actually playing in Boston is really happening at this point. But maybe KG takes a buyout that saves the Celtics a million or something of salary flexibility, and the Celtics can ask for the Bucks 2nd rounder that Brooklyn got for Jason Kidd. Gotta get all those Nets picks.

As a side note, I was wondering if endorsement deals are contingent on playing or not. I know KG is one of the more heavily endorsed guys, do those deals end if he retires, anyone know? It would definitely be a consideration if $12M in salary plus maybe double that in endorsements vanished. I'm sure some endorsement deals stick around after retirement but it can't be as good a deal as when a guy is actually on the court.

Wiretap says Spurs are open to sign and trading Aaron Baynes. The Celtics have a disturbing lack of my countrymen on their roster. Do it Danny.

He looked good at the World Champs.

Ed Pinkney wrote:To be honest the player you guys should consider is Brandon Bass. Only one year left on his deal at reasonable money, and he is a solid all round player, great individual defender, solid shooter, great foul shooter, playoff tested, good locker room guy.

The Celtics are in a position where they should be giving all the minutes to Sullinger and Olynyk so Bass doesn't really fit this team anymore.

Probably too much to give up for Bass but maybe Robinson and Leonard?

That's a very good deal for both teams. Bass is still only 29. He's got 3-4 good years left, can start as needed and will come at a very good price. They really need a backup big they can rely on.

Something is up. Rondo to OKC?

Post#585 » by NotALongIslandr » Sat Sep 20, 2014 2:28 pm

DA is neither lazy nor stupid. There is some substantive reason why neither the log jam on the roster nor the signing of Turner has been dealt with. I know this trade doesn't make sense because if Rondo is going to OKC it's at least partly because there's something to the whole Perk as binky thing (driving the lane w/o worries?) I just threw Perk in because the trade machine needs salary out from OKC. I dunno but I think DA has an understanding with someone, maybe PHO, and there's something getting in the way of pulling the trigger. Long story short, if the Cs clear roster room by moving Bogans, Babb, CJ and say a piece useful to a playoff team like Bass, plus Rondo, would you be satisfied getting a ton of youth in return, such as Adams, McGary, LaVine, Shabaaz (not a fan but who knows)?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mxs4ke2

Edit: this also works and makes more sense as the beginning of a conversation: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mgf7oy5

Don't know the CBA well enough, maybe a two part trade where Bogans, et. al. go first, get waived clearing cap room and then another trade moving big salaries happens. Also, ESPN has Thornton still unmoveble with others but that isn't true, right? 60 days have passed since the CLE trade.

You should throw "trade idea" or something in the title.

Nothing is "up". Can you change the title of your thread or post this on the trade idea thread?

This doesn't belong here.

I'll play...

Would love to get young Adams but this amounts to a very tall pipedream if there ever was one....no way that OKC does this....Russel Westbrook is a bonifide star in this league....He isn't going anyplace until contract time...

Besides...I think Adams starts for them this year....

This trade will never happen....

Merging this as something being up with Rondo to OKC is very, very unlikely. No way a team as budget conscious as OKC trades a guy under contract for three years for a guy under contract for one, never mind any of the actual player details.

Edit - and Sessions just signed in SAC, so keep your Rondo jersey clean and pressed until December at least.

Yeah, let's review:

Baseline: I don't live in here, as opposed to many others (fact)
Assertion: something is up (posted last weekend)
Speculation: various trades, none of which materialized
Responses: "nothing is up" "ditto" various other BS not worthy of discussion

Event: within one week of my assertion a very minor trade based on exactly the player I identified (Bogans) is executed.

Results: "something is up" = fact
"Nothing is up" = incorrect
"Ditto" = incorrect

Enjoy.

Everyone knew Bogans was out the door.

What are you talking about?

I like everything about this trade except for JR. Smith being included.

Seeing JR Smith in a Celtics would be like all my feelings seeing Todd Day, Ricky Davis and Jordan Crawford in a Celtics uniforms multiplied by a thousand combined with drinking a litre of bile while someone kicked me in the testicles and pushed my grandmother down a flight of stairs.

OK, maybe that is a bit much but you get the picture. I would rather take Bargnani over him and I fully realise the implications of that statement.

go back a month or two in this thread, or somewhere on the board, and I suggested almost the exact same trade.

Agreed. But there's no way Phil takes on those three expirings plus Crash without DA taking JR back. At least his brother isn't also part of the deal.

Who says no to this?
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m943zcm
Bass & Young to Utah for Kanter & Novak (or other salary ballast).

They have a need at PF and get a solid veteran in Bass and a prospect in Young at SF. They already have Favors and now Gobert to groom as backup, and aren't gonna wanna pay Kanter next summer. We get a center and thin our PF stock a little and get more time for Sully (purely at 4 now with Kanter\Zeller), Olynyk and small ball lineups with Green at 4 (tho he still is mainly at 3). With Wallace & Turner, Young probably isn't getting much time this year anyways.

Seems fairly even (depending on your view of Young), but add picks one way or another if need be.
