It really didn't need to be 3.5 hours long. They could have cut out at least 45 minutes and it still would have been great.

But yeah, I agree - it was hard to watch De Niro at times.

Rando question: Why were Laura Dern and Timothee Chalamet in a Celtics game the other night? I know they're in the new adaptation of Little Women together. But I don't think either celebrity is from New England.

Watching tomorrow. Don’t often get impacted by movies but this one may hit a little close to home after going through a god awful divorce a few years ago.

Few things. Watched The Irishman twice and absolutely loved every second of it. The last shot was one of Scorsese’s best of his career. Pesci stole the film IMO.

I saw a little indie thriller called I See You and it was fantastic. Filled with twist after twist. Definitely should check it out.

Snowfall is awesome. Acting, writing, directing, the whole nine. It has some really memorable characters, in the vein of The Sopranos, and is grossly underrated IMO. Not sure if you’re up to date, but the most recent season was it’s best.

Yep. Devastating.

Spoiler:
The final 15 minutes were virtually unbearable. And both Driver and Johansson deserve huge Oscar nods. She deserves one just for when she is speaking to her lawyer alone for the first time. And that scene where they’re arguing and he literally says he wants her dead and falls to his knees...I loved Joker and was ready to had him over an Oscar, but damn this is a great year of performances.

Yeah, just started watching it. Just finished season 1 now watching season 2 and loving it. Don't know why the rating is low for what it is.

I just finished watching The Strain on hulu. It was alright. First two seasons were pretty good, but I didn't care for the the 3rd and 4th as much. I've now started Preacher.

His Dark Materials finally had a really good episode. There was suspense and action. The more intimate scenes -- which have been really well acted all along -- in this case also moved the story along.

Skimping on the CGI still hurt (it obscured a plot point as to who did or didn't have a visible daemon), but so be it. The idea that Lyra is prepubescent and played by an actress about to turn 15 years old is a little troublesome, but it beats the mid-/late-20s actors playing teenagers in Buffy and other shows.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Was underwhelmed by The Irishman.

DeNiro and Pesci were good, but couldn't tell you the last time I actually enjoyed Pacino in anything.

Sorry in advance.

Disagree on the film but agree on Pacino. My username hasn’t aged well. Last time I loved him in a film was Insomnia and that was 17 years ago. Lol. This was probably his best since then, but nothing new.

Incredible. Probably going to win a lot of awards. It’s a heavy film but very well done. Acting was insane. Netflix original.

Pacino has basically overacted in at least 80% of his roles since Scarface. He seems to think getting loud equates to drama and has, for the most, showed no subtly in his acting. There a few roles he's done some good acting in like Donnie Brasco and Insomnia, but I've found him mostly obnoxious over the last 30 years. It's really strange, too, considering what a great actor he was in the 70s.
