Finally read wycs comments.
He's awful. What's he trying to prove.
Why even be available if he's the
best ownership has to offer.

Wyc is a pretty terrible liar and his getting so obviously annoyed with fair questions is a bad look. The biggest apparent issue with the team last year was the disconnect between the players, the coach and management. Wyc would never admit that Brad lost the team, even though Brad himself admitted the team needed a new voice.

It was clear that Wyc didn't want to address the serious failures of the organization last year. All he wanted to do was hype his new coach.

As far as asking if race was a primary factor in the coach search, I sympathize with Wyc there. I'm sure it was a primary factor, and should have been given the reputation of the team with players in the league. But him admitting such does leave things open to the possibility that there may have been a better fit that didn't meet diversity needs.

The one thing I haven't heard from ownership/management is exactly where they failed. They sugar coat and hand wave too much there.

Brad only got his new gig because of his extension. The ownership group can't be thrilled with how things have regressed. Not only did Brad lose teams in multiple different years but the pulse of the locker room has caused a lot of very good players to leave Boston. He'd be gone with Ainge if they didn't owe him so much coin.

This conspiracy theory cracks me up. You don’t give a guy that job if you don’t believe he can do the job at a high level.

He’s off to a good start so far. He certainly has been involved in team building discussions over the years. He may have differed with Ainge in certain decisions in the draft/trades/free agency and perhaps he was proven correct in hindsight.

Brad certainly seems like a smart guy who knows the game. But I do think he sort of lost the team from a player/ego management perspective. He won’t have to do so much of that in his new role.

Been shown a lot, it was Romeo. It doesn't exactly show who he was talking to but it was directed that way and its after CBS was on him. it was "STFU" IIRC.

I'd imagine stuff like that would happen a lot when a player is frustrated. If it was directed at Brad I doubt he'd care that much, other than to have a quiet word later. Given how much he continued to have faith in Romeo it doesn't seem like it was a major issue.

I certainly know if someone who worked for me did that in a high pressure situation where they were frustrated I may be a little taken aback at most, but wouldn't think too much of it.

Thanks for pointing out it was Romeo. Found the story and linked video

I always find this stuff fascinating

Anyway the discussion on bst was if a new coach can reestablish the team or if it’s an issue with the players. Should be an interesting year.

As long as Tatum doesn't turn out to be a bad apple, they can definitely do some house cleaning when the dust settles with the new coach.

There's too many young guys on the roster. 3-3-6 ratio so far.

Vets: Horford, TT, Smart, Fournier (FA)

Tested, but not vets per say: Tatum and Jaylen, Jabari

Young ones: Langford, Grant, Rob, Pritchard, Nesmith, Moses

Compare that to the last championship team. 9-0-6 ratio

Vets: KG, Pierce, Ray, Posey, House, Cassell, Brown, Scal, Pollard

Young ones: TA, Rondo, Perk, Powe, Baby, Pruitt

JB and JT are more of a veterans than Fournier. Think they got 3x the experience he does

I wonder if Romeo would have let that fly had he known Brad was about to become President of Basketball Operations.

Fournier has 9 years in the league and the mind of a grown man.

I gave Fournier the benefit of the doubt due to his age. If you want to downgrade him, be my guest. Makes the situation look even more bleaker.

You know what? This guy looks pretty good! I have to think that he will be better next year. More confident, and with a new coach who has stated he wants to "accelerate" the development of our young first round picks, Romeo will have every opportunity to show his stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing him step up his game.

Everything I said in my previous post about Romeo, applies to Aaron Nesmith and Payton Pritchard too. I'm very excited to see them progress under our new coach.

And thanks to Tomasz Kordylewski for putting these videos together.
