I prefer Billups too...but one thing I do know--Carlisle knows how and when to call a damn timeout to try to stop the opposing team's runs...Would be nice to have a coach who did this.

And hiring them for all the reasons already discussed. But RC is a former Celtic who many consider a top 3 coach of this generation. He has done more with less and overachieved with a bland azz roster for years.

I am also aware that RC should get Tatum's/Brown's approval first as well. But if winning is the top priority, and getting the most out of a roster (not least-Stevens the 2 or 3 seasons) and getting a team the maximize an offense, then it should be a no brainer.

Listened to 2 interviews of Lawson. She sounds like the female version of Brad. No thanks to her coaching here.
Good assessment:

Carlisle has had big problems relating to players. Not what the Celtics need at this moment

Carlisle is nearly as old as Ainge. They should really avoid guys who played in the Ainge and Carlisle era. The league is much softer and sensitive nowadays. Cassell and Billups are safer choices, although I prefer Billups due to his age.

That's true. Carlisle has had very decent success with some pretty average/below average rosters tho.

Pass on Carlisle, in spite of the C's ties. Dude is a hardheaded micromanager. I don't think he fits today's NBA. We need someone who can motivate the players. I appreciated that Brad gave room to the Jays to grow and blossom; Brad is seriously underappreciated here for that. It's just that he also applied that to guys who didn't deserve the room, like Smart. The answer is not to bring in a guy who will clamp down on everyone.

Carlisle and O schemes? How many games have you seen

I'm a german basketball fan in his thirtys, wait a minute there was a pretty good german basketball player in the NBA who played 20 years for the same team. 8 of those 20 were coached by Carlisle, so at best i watched 5 games.

Seriously though in the recent past, two games a season when they play the Celtics. But if you have a top 10 player who is as ball dominant as Luka there is nothing a coach can do (other than coach the role players and call time outs). Luka is the franchise, he plays the way he wants. RC has his style of coaching and usually that's a pretty good recipe for a good offense.

If you want to question RCs fit with Boston that is fine, but don't tell me he can't coach great offenses. He can and has. By the way just last season Dallas had the #1 OTRG, that was Luka alone though i'm sure.

*Chauncey is interested in the Celtics' job.
*Not sure if the Cs have interviewed him yet.
*Larry Brown hold high praise for Chauncey and feels he would be great in Boston.
*Brown loves the way Boston does stuff and Boston needs to be good for the NBA.

It's ideal IMO to find a coach that is young and relatable, but it's most important to hire a good coach.

That doesn't work in the NBA and BB's style is not even flying like it did in the past.

they said the same thing about Thibs.. too tough.. ut coaches can adjust as the years go on. RC seems right enough to know that this is a players league now more than ever. I will give him the benefit of Doubt he can bring the most out of his players/team without Rubbing players as much like he may have done in the past.

1- RC
1A - Billups

Carlisle needs to go to Indiana where no one cares if he wins or loses.

Was never a big fan of DWade the player but I think he could be an excellent Coach/FA ambassador...
