We all know if Brad Stevens does anything it will probably be a player that no one is even talking about.

2m x 1. Easy to fit in to the cap. Stevens can send any bottom of the roster salary plus two 2nd round picks and call it a day.
The Warriors are within half a game of the play-in and don't have their pick this year. They have no reason to dump useful players for nothing.
Don't be surprised when the Warriors make multiple moves before the deadline. They aren't punting on the season, but they are going to tweak things on the fly and try to catch lightning in a bottle.
This Saric move isn't what I just described. But if they can add two 2nd round picks and a useful end-of-rotation guy in Stevens for Saric who is not in the Warriors long-term plans, they would do it.
Dray, Wiggins, JK will all be discussed. MDJr is going to try like hell to add juice around Curry. They have already proven that if they can get to the playoffs and are playing their best basketball come playoff time, that they can make noise. Personally, I think they're done. But internally, that's definitely what they're thinking.
I agree about Golden State. If you have Curry, Klay, Dray, and core pieces from their dynasty like Looney and Wiggins, ya gotta let 'em at least run it back one more time. With CP3 out, my guess is they'll look at moving some youth and try to pry a vet with value.
I'd like Brad to get in on the action. Saric would be a good bench piece for Celtics, and I think Moody is undervalued. I want one more athletic wing with a decent J on this team, to get after the quicker young players the Celtics have struggled with. Jrue and White are a grear backcourt, but I don't want Jrue chasing guys when we'll need him to stay fresh.

Brad Stevens has been contacting Karl Malone to see what he has left in the tank.

Looking at that list, it's basically the guys we've been discussing here that might be realistic: Bey, Prince, Achuiwa. Maybe Saric.
...and my new bestie, 2022 NBA Champion Moses Moody.
...and Santi Aldama if Memphis blows it up. But they should keep him.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread 2023-24, Lucky Part 13
Memphis feels like the right partner. This is now a lost season for them, we just did a deal with them this summer so obviously our front offices can work together. Plenty of guys on their roster that would look solid on our bench, fit the TPE and not cost much either:
Bismack Biyombo- $5m expiring, been solid enough with Adams done for the season that they let Lofton Jr. go instead
John Konchar- $2.4m with 3/18 extension starting this summer. Having an awful year, but solid fit (might even be free at this point just to get him off the books next year)
Xavier Tillman- $1.9m expiring, small ball big with extremely limited offense but decent defense
Guys like Zaire Williams, Jake LaRavia, David Roddy and Santi Aldama would all be solid flyers, but it makes far more sense for Memphis to pump them with minutes for the rest of the season in case one can turn a corner and be something. Although maybe if we were willing to throw them a first and/or 2nds and eat bad money (Konchar/Rose), they'd be open to moving one.
They own their own pick this year and can lean into the tank with Ja being done for the season, so they're bound to make some moves. Even if we're not snagging on of their guys, maybe we can get involved with team X that comes in to pick their bones.

That's what I mean, there aren't too many possible curve balls on that list. Definitely could happen and if Brad lands another Derrick White out-of-the-blue home run I'll be amped. Still it's a limited pool like Brad has said.

Love Moody, He needs to be unleashed.
another name I would love to target is AJ Griffin.
Went from 20 mins a game last year to 9 this year. and with Atlanta sucking a few picks and svi might work for him.
Jrue/Pritchard/Banton
White/Moody/Walsh
Brown/Griffin/Stevens
Tatum/Hauser/Brissett
KP/Horford/Kornet
2wp
Queta
Peterson
Davidson

I've been on the XTillman as a target since preseason. 1.9 expiring. Tough. Gives us big man depth to help keep Zinger & Al fresh for playoffs. He's played in the playoffs. Would be a fan favorite. Throw them a second round pick or maybe 2....done and done

IDK, none of those guys really move me - not sure any would move the needle for us.
Just because it's a lost season for them doesn't mean we have to trade for their scraps.
I think we can do better.
If Konchar is having an awful year and can't shoot, why would he be solid fit here? Also hasn't really produced in the playoffs when given the chance.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Biyombo would be a slight upgrade over Kornet and Queta, especially for the playoffs.

Biyombo was a free agent and was there for the taking before he signed with the Grizz and the Celtics showed no interest. I doubt they have interest now.
Center is not an issue for the Celtics. A SF/PF (big wing) that could shoot the ball would be helpful.
Not to mention I don't see Biyombo as an upgrade to Kornet.

Exactly. If Brad thought Biyombo was an upgrade, we would have tried to get him last summer.
Not to mention, with the injuries they have at center, they need Biyombo. They're not gonna just dump him, even if they're likely not headed to the playoffs.
