It is what it is with the Celtics broadcasting team, they're easily the most homeristic group of announcers in the league (acting as if every play that goes against the Celtics is a crime, and that every bogus play that benefited the Celtics was "legit") which is why outside fans hate them but Celtics fans typically go to the end of the Earth to defend them...

Heinsuck and company take catering to their local fan base to an extreme level but give it a few more years and they'll be forced to change their approach... As Celtics / NBA games become more accessible to viewers outside of Boston the complaints will continue to roll in and there will come a point where being so blatantly one-sided doesn't make good business sense.

Also on a side note having a good basketball resume doesn't make you a good basketball announcer. Ian Eagle blows Heinson out of the water as an announcer and my understanding is that Eagle never even played basketball at the high school level.

Unless Heinsohn cloned himself and assigned him with pbp responsibilities instead of Gorman, I have no idea how you can complain about the Celtics "group" being homeristic.

This is such a cliché and one-sided comment. Just because you like something or someone doesn't give you the right to expect or demand from someone else to feel the same way. Here, you're clearly being closed-minded.

Like it or not, I'm right.

No you're not. You can be a "true" Celtic fan and not love Tommy Heinsohn. A little homerism is fine, even encouraged on a local telecast, but Heinsohn is WAAAAY over the top. The thing that really gets me is when he goes off on a rant about the officiating on a particular play, and the replay a few seconds later verifies that it was the right call (and more often than not, that is the case), Heinsohn will almost never admit that it was a correct call. Usually he will simply give one last vague grunt or huff and move on with the game. While I don't have a passionate dislike of Heinsohn's commentating, I do find it detracts from my enjoyment of the game quite often.

And Mike Gorman (though I like him very much as a commentator) does NOT balance the commentary team out like some have suggested. To balance Heinsohn out, Gorman would need to rant against every "bad" call that benefited the Celtics and believe that the officials are conspiring to guarantee a Celtics' victory, and he certainly does not do/believe that. If anything, he is a bit of a homer as well, though at a much more acceptable level, imo.

How can you not love Tommy? He's like a Team Legends, announcer and mascot all in one.

You can be a Celts fan without loving Tommy. It just strongly indicates you have either no sense of humor or no soul.

Marshall is right about Rondo's name.

Sorry, but I don't think you are right here Sully. Marshall is the only person I've ever heard who calls him Ray-jon. Doc definitely calls him Rah-jon. Do you think Rondo would let Doc mispronounce his name for 4 years?

Tommy's the man. Who the hell wants someone who roots for both teams all of the time? That's just boring and, normally, fans don't want that. I know that I get pissed when Tommy isn't there and it's some other lame dudes.
