I was thinking this as well. But in my twisted mind, this could be an operation mounted by Ainge and Co. to start preparing Celtics fans for a Rondo trade that may or may not happen soon.

Doesn't surprise me if this is true. Looking forward to a day where we don't have to speculate on Rondo's intentions.

I tend to doubt Rondo is chummy with Jackie, given she is prone to take shots at him frequently in her pieces as being "moody," "difficult," and "stubborn." Wasn't she the one who stated that Rondo hung out in his car before games until the last minute before heading into the locker-room for pregame a few years back?

We can speculate about Jackie's sources all we want, but one thing is true for me. I don't think she would make this up. When Jackie speaks, I tend to listen. I take this seriously.

Sully isn't up for a mega contract....if he was, and didn't want to sign an extension with us, I'd be all for trading him too.

That said, I didnt think the day we drafted Smart that we were replacing Rondo. We were still trying to get Love, so that would indicate Ainge would want to keep Rondo. At this point though, other than trading for Josh Smith (whom I don't want) I don't see any other available star to put with Rondo. We are getting to a point where options are thin and Rondo is probably and rightfully getting impatient....

Right. I like Rondo a lot. He has given some amazing performances in big games. Lots of memories for me. The guy lives for the big game and big stage. He has dominated in playoff games against Lebron, Dwight, Kobe, and others. The Heat literally do not know how to guard him. He has played with one arm in the playoffs, He is an amazing competitor.

But this is why a trade is best for all involved if the Cs can get a return. Rondo's prime should not be spent on a team winning 30 games and not playing on national TV. I'd love watching him play with Melo on the Knicks.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I was trying to remember if she would be considered a 'Rondo' source or not, but she carries Doc's water for him. It was probably Doc that told her that, just trying to tweak Rondo and Co. Why else would she be bringing up the Clippers as a potentially (not productive) trade partner. Anyone that remotely follows the league and is older than eleven years old understands that goes without saying, bringing up that Rondo wouldn't be worth much to the Clippers in a deal.

It's like if an established football reporter started talking about the Pats being involved in trading for an established starting QB. They'd be laughed off the set for mentioning it.

Jackie could be right, but it didn't bring a lot of credibility to the idea the way she presented it. And it's the first time that's really been reported quite that way, and look how far the report has gone. Literally no one has picked it up and run with it.

Rivers is a man of his word, and he promised Ainge he would help with the rebuilding process. Whether he completes all three of the years remaining on his deal remains to be seen, but it's nearly impossible to fathom him walking away at this juncture.

Pressed by a small group of reporters late Friday night, Rivers said his future is not tied to the decisions of Pierce or KG.

"Mine is a completely separate thing," Rivers said. "I'm coming back until I say I'm not."

Translated: Expect to see Rivers on the sideline next season.

Jackie a year ago in May. Pretty prescient stuff.

Anyone questioning how "in touch" with the Celtics Jackie is should google "Jackie M and Danny Ainge" and then see how their relationship goes back decades. You don't just not have sources/info out of a relationship like that. She's more clued in than others give her credit for (btw, I just realized today Isiah Thomas was no longer a King - It's OK) because she's not interested in breaking news as much as she could be. She's more on the human/story side.

Right. Anthony and Babb in this instance would be an expiring and a waivable contract vs Thompson's 3 years remaining. I'd think maybe that would be incentive for another first coming this way along with the rest of the Rondo package (to get the return package to include 2 firsts rather than just 1.) Anyway, it was just a little side possibility that I'd read about elsewhere. Point is, I do think Rondo to Sac is a legit possibility if they're willing to take a chance on him without assurances that he'll re-sign.

Not saying this stuff isn't true, but I honestly don't think Jackie is reliable anymore.

She thought Isaiah Thomas was still available in a Sacramento deal. I don't think she's keeping up with things.

Jackie is not out of touch. She's suddenly not reliable because you don't like the trade?

She probably got her info from the owners and Ainge. Ainge has known her for 30 years. The owners have read her for 30 years.

Can we stop shooting the messenger. Jackie M. has the dirt. She knows more than she's letting on. Maybe it's dated info from earlier this summer, but she's a legit source.

It's not just this. I'm not even against trading Rondo. It's just painful to listen to Jackie because she's basically stuck on the same themes from like 4 years ago and clearly lagging behind most of her peers in keeping up with recent nba moves/rumors. No one should be surprised if Rondo asked for a trade or if he gets traded. But please, start paying close attention to everything Jackie says and you'll start to see a pattern. I've been noticing for a few years now.

And I'm not saying Jackie isn't capable. She goes back a long way with nba people and does have legit connections. I just think she's on semi-retirement and ESPN doesn't have the highest standards for accuracy. As long as she's a reliable personality and keeps moderately in touch her job is secure. I think she's been milking that for a while now.

I don't blame her either. But this isn't Woj we're talking about.

That's all I'm saying. And this news isn't on the human/story side. Those stories take years to tell themselves sometimes. Breaking news happens suddenly and Jackie isn't out in front of it anymore. Rondo possibly asking for a trade and/or being traded is not inside info. It's there for all to see. Now after a Rondo trade I'm sure Jackie could put together a nice piece on his time in Boston with stuff that no one else knew.

I for one don't like Jackie and usually think she is full of hot air....but at the same time i called her crazy when Love came to Boston and everyone said a deal was in place EXCEPT JACKIE who said Love was not coming to Boston and Minny doesn't want to deal with Bostons offer. She was correct when everyone else was wrong in that regard.

And this isn't her saying "Rondo will test free agency" This is her saying "Rondo wants out of Boston"...Very different.

This is what I have been waiting for for these other trade rumors to make some sense. Now I have heard it. Get ready for the inevitable fans...Rondo is out of here.

As a star, I'm not surprised by Rondo's line of thinking. This Celtics team won't be contending anytime soon and he's not getting any younger, even though I see his game aging well.

Everyone loves Jackie until she states something some of us have been saying since the Love thing fell apart.

Fake.....! BULLSH*T news.. N I love how many celtics fans wants him to be traded.. They forgetting he is a star player.. If the trade do tend to happen, we will see his threads where the same fans will be regretting the trade because they will see him play better on the other team .. He shouldn't be traded. We should trade Smart :)

Here's sources that Jackie has. One call to Ainge, Wyc and Rondo's agent.

AGENT'S NEVER SHUT UP.

They spill the beans to reporters all the time. I would think it comes from Rondo's camp, then, there are scouts and high-level personnel -- maybe even owners -- who are comfortable talking and trust MacMullen. We got to stop being in denial.

No one "wants" him to be traded. If it were our choice, Rondo would be here for Banner 18. But You have to take the emotion out of it. It's about looking at the situation and predicting how you think it's going to play out. Fans don't make trades. Management does. Fans don't choose to not re-sign with a team .. Players do.

Yeah it's weird it literally went from nowhere to everywhere just within the last bit. Must be a news service finally distributed it and everyone was sleeping on the typical Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend news release.
