Now, media day is always a love fest, but this really does seem like a happy bunch overall. Was surprisingly affected by Green. I didn;t think much about his signing at the time, but he said some very nice things about the organization, and particularly about his relationship with Thomas. If he keeps true to his words and focuses on representing his team, fans and family, he might be a key contributor due to his 'spurtability' (unfortunate word, but that is what Brad apparently uses).

Essentially, Green can be our JR Smith type: a guy to come in and light it up (no, not that 'light it up'!). He seems to play off Thomas' leadership, so if IT can help him get into the flow, Green might be an ideal bench guy to come in and get some buckets.

One of the guys covering the team mentioned Green was much better in Phoenix at one of the league's fastest paces as opposed to last year in Miami with one of the slowest. If he's closer to his first year in Phoenix that would be a huge bench piece for this team, they really need that instant offense shooter kind of guy.

Hey, it's preseason, if not irrationally optimistic now, then when?

Perhaps he should focus on being medicre on one side of the floor let alone both? Like when Constanza wanted to have sex while watching TV and eating food. Shooting too high.

Imagine if James Young went and became useful? what a plot twist that would be.

I still think Young could make a leap, don't think George is the right role model, but at least he's thinking about defense. He's still only... 21? Game is too fast for him anywhere past d-league. He stands still and watches because he doesn't see opportunities in the plays as they unfold.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2659663-kelly-olynyk-injury-updates-on-celtics-forwards-recovery-from-shoulder-surgery#
Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens announced Monday that Kelly Olynyk is medically cleared for non-contact drills, but his availability for the start of the 2016-17 season remains in doubt, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com....

The 25-year-old is entering a pivotal season since he can become a restricted free agent in the offseason. While he has shown himself to be a dependable rotational big man, he also failed to play in more than 70 games in any of his first three years in the league.

Olynyk averaged a healthy 10.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game in 2015-16, but a shoulder injury knocked him out for a stretch last winter and limited him in the postseason.

The offseason addition of Al Horford has meant Olynyk isn't as integral to Boston's success in 2016-17. Horford is a solid scorer and rebounder whose talents are often underrated. Stevens will likely look to Tyler Zeller more to pick up any minutes Olynyk potentially leaves in his absence.

I'm mentally prepared for zero contribution from Green. That way, if he rebounds back to Phoenix form, it'll be one heck of a windfall.

Ah nasty, they used to show us some real nasty pictures of what happens if you don't take off your ring before work. Enough to scare you to never wear one ever.

I thought about including a warning. But I figured the wikipedia page had no pictures, and, after reading the description, if someone still wanted to see it, that was on them. (Heck, the name alone should set off all the warning bells.)

Same reaction I had when I was first made aware of this kind of injury. I absolutely intend to never wear a ring - just not worth it. And not necessary... Other ways to show your commitment. (Also the same reason I do everything I can to avoid wearing ties - shop class burned that one into my brain at a young age.)

Also, while not "common", it's more common than you'd think. Jimmy Fallon had one recently.

For those who missed the live media day coverage (me!), you can find the presscon interviews here (questions aren't audible though). Not sure where to catch the ones by D'Amico & Pflugrad from celtics.com.

EDIT: Never realized this before, but Jonas is low-key a good interview.

Somehow I never managed to notice that Olynyk has maybe the worst "you know" tick I have ever heard. I counted 47 of them in a 3:05 interview. They're so ingrained in his speech pattern that he slurs them out at the start of almost every breath.

I've heard the hypothesis that people insert "you know"s and "like"s and "I mean"s into their speech due to a lack of confidence - to buy time to think - but that's clearly not the case here. He blasts through them so fast that half the time they're barely detectable - I had to pause and replay in several areas to confirm I had heard one.

Interesting observation...I never noticed them either. He's actually very well spoken and articulate...if he got got rid of them and slowed down a little he would sound just like Ainge.
