I was going to post a whole thing about the nature of fandom but most of the things have been said. All I'll say is we're adults, I know sports makes us tap into a more passionate, irrational part of us but there's no need to "haze" the guy. Whatever you think of his decision, i'm sure we'll all be civil. I like to keep this board a better place then some of the darker regions of realgm internet.

He'll talk hoops with us and he'll root for our team, nothing wrong with that. Of course the first time he says something negative about Brad, we'll **** throw him to the wolves but if that happens, he asked for it.

You can't beat that blessing, makes me jealous, I don't think they responded on my first post.

I have been a Celtics fan my entire life, inherited that from a man who rooted for them before they ever won a championship. Not sure I understand switching teams but you can't fault bandwagon fans unless they drop off when things suck again. Fortunately that's a ways off.

He certainly doesn't have to put a post on the Raptors board....

But I ain't saying that wouldn't help either.

This is a perfect Belichick signing. We can cut him after we face the Raptors, having squeezed out of him all the info about the Raps' forum we need.

You will see huge ups and downs in here, too. Welcome anyways, hope you enjoy it(team's trending up and playing a beautiful brand of b-ball)...
Good assessment:

You can be a fan of whoever you want, don't see the need of making a thread declaring your jumping bandwagons though.

It goes like this.

Toronto used to think Demar was Kobe.
Now they think Demar is Harden

When a bigman gets hot from the field he will go to the bench.
When Demars shots dont fall he whines to refs and doesnt go back on defense.
Demar doesnt like to defend and gambles on steals.

Lowry has a fat ass.

If I was seen on Raptors board, I dont want to get treated as a Raptors troll over here, hence the new thread.

And it has more than a couple pages, so its not hated.

Jordan got me into basketball as a kid in the 90’s. I liked the Bulls and Kings (Mitch Richmond fan) way more than the Celtics. Then I started to watch more and more Celtics as they were the local team and I slowly started to fall in love with the team even if they weren’t that great in the late 90’s. Worked my schedule around the playoff run in 2002 and ever since I got a day job, I haven’t missed a game/minute since the 2006-07 season.

Everyone has a different path to becoming a Celtics fan and the important thing is that once you become a devoted fan of the green, there really is no going back. I could live to be a hundred and this will always be my team.

I actually thought the one thing Demar was missing was a 3pt shot n he woulda been Kobe. But he's can't shoot the 3 so he's flawed

Welcome. Always been a Boston fan, but did root for the Barkley/KJ/Majerle/Ainge Suns in the 90's. We sucked at the time, so they were my team I was pulling for to win the West and take down the Bulls. Plus....there was the Ainge factor.

Kobe performed better in the playoffs, could shoot the three and was a TREMENDOUS defender.

Demar lacks the 3pt shot, the bright lights performance ability and defense.

A few things to take note of:

1) You can come chill out here, but you aren't an official Celtics fan until we all get together and then jump you in. Think of it as a buy-in for not having to deal with the pain of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis dying, for getting the 3rd and 6th picks in 1997, for having to live through the Rick Pitino and Paul Gaston eras, for getting jobbed out of another title in 2010 because the league wanted to set up the "Kobe may catch MJ" storyline. You gotta suffer a little before you become a legit Celtics fan. Not liking another team's fans because of their low hoops IQ is kinda wishy-washy.

2) With that being said, we do agree that the board down there is insufferable. I mean, it's not completely their fault I guess. Basketball only became a thing in 1995 to most of Canada. And although the coverage has grown over the years, it is still truly pathetic. Want to know how bad it is?

MLSE runs NBA TV Canada. Here's what their schedule looks like today:
Raptors game in an hour vs Chicago - replay from October 19
Raptors game in an hour vs Philadelphia - replay from October 21
Inside Stuff
NBA Action
NBA GameTime x 3- this is the only show that shows actual highlights from games around the league
Replay of the Wolves/OKC game from October 22
NBA Action
Raptors game in an hour vs Chicago - replay from October 19
Raptors game in an hour vs Philadelphia - replay from October 21
Inside Stuff
NBA Action
The Starters (this is a Canadian show, but is actually awesome)
Raptors game vs Philadelphia - replay from October 21
Pregame show from when the Raptors faced the Spurs (WTF!!!)
NBA Home Video - the 2014 Spurs Championship run
NBA Hardwood Classic - Lebron's 1st game in the NBA
NBA TV Canada Special - Sugar - A story of Redemption (about Michael Ray Richardson)
Raptors game in an hour vs Chicago - replay from October 19
Raptors game in an hour vs Philadelphia - replay from October 21

LOOK AT THIS TRASH LIST OF PROGRAMMING. LOOK AT IT!! It's no wonder that most Raptors fans are clueless. You'd think they'd show NBA Gametime at around 10:00 PM so you could watch highlight's from today's games, but nope, the owners of the Raptors think it's better for you to watch Lebron's very 1st game in the league. And this is just for today. For the most part, this channel shows Raptors Today (with absolutely clueless analysts working for the Raptors) 4-6 times a day (consecutively!). They've got another show called the Hangout where they gather a panel of nobodies to talk hoops. And this isn't even taking into account the stupid Lucas Noiguera commercial that they air 50 times a day. Yes, they gave that scrub his own commercial. It is absolutely cringe worthy.

By the way - the Celts game vs the Bucks on Thursday - it was scheduled to be on NBA TV Canada, but again, MLSE preempted it and thought it would be better if you watched a replay of the Raptors losing to the Warriors from the night before.

This is why most Raptors fans are clueless - because they are exposed to the propaganda that MLSE feeds them. Keep the fans in the dark and they won't know any better is probably their mission statement.

3) If you told us you were jumping ship strictly because of MLSE, that would have made a million times more sense. That organization doesn't care about championships. They care about making money and not paying the luxury tax. You only need to look at their moves this summer to realize this.

I think the New York Knicks will win a championship before the Raptors ever will. I'm not even kidding.

Not what happened. I'm sick of these god damn excuses. If it's anyone's fault, it's Ray's.

Appreciate the MLSE information. I was not exaggerating when I said every Raptors fan I know irl knows nothing about basketball.

I was a BIG defender of that forum for a while and really pushed that "Raptors forum is just larger" BS for a long time. I could not have been more wrong, I simply wasn't reading their forum when I said that stuff.

It's horrifying over there. GB levels of stupidity. Honestly, it would surprise me if most Raptors fans even knew how to set a pick.

They are "passionate" (aka, they buy a lot of **** merchandise and are loud), but that means nothing when you barely understand the game.

Baseball is cool but I'm not going to pretend I know much about it on a forum or in real life, I just explain that I love the Sox but I'm a casual baseball fan. Why these Raptors fans persist into their own pit of nothingness really confuses me. You'd think 2K could teach them the basics but it doesn't.

This MLSE stuff helps me make sense of it though. A lot of people get sports news from casual sources and it sounds like they have poisoned the well.

They are possibly one of of the least intelligent fanbases in North America.

I did mention owenership a ways back.

The ownership that singed Lowry, Demar and Ibaka to 100 millin dollars knowing they suck in the playoffs.
The same owernship that will give picks and players away to save 1 million in Tax
The same ownership that owns all the canadian sports media outlets that can pound their narrative that Demar/Lowry/Ibaka equals championship, and then park the games on tsn5 which costs more money on top of the regular sports package in order to watch while the saskatchewon provincial under 17 curling championships air on the main channel.
the same ownership that supports Lebron being too good as a reason to accept poor performance in the playoffs over and over again
the same ownership that traded vince for pennies on the dollar
the same ownership that hired babcock as a gm, triano, oneil, etc as coaches
the same ownership that forced the drafting of Charlie V, and Hoffa
I could go on.

But I tried to keep it brief.

I don't think you have worry about us being insecure about criticism. It seems like everyone at some point every off season has one day that they want to fire Danny. Sometimes it's just because they had too much to drink

Careful. You're joining a cult. What separates Celtics fans from other fans we are there for the team even when they are awful and miserable. Anyone can cheer loudly when their team is winning. When they are losing is the real test. Hopefully you won't need to worry about that for awhile. ;)

I watched Mangke Bateer and Hoffa

I watched Bargnani and Mike James...

It's all relative, man. I'm a Patriots/Celtics/Sox/Bruins fan and I've been spoiled all my life with an intelligent fan base and winning teams, but I'm mainly talking about the former.

Have you actually read the Raptors forum? It's unbearable and their fans are like that in real life as well. We can't even begin to put ourselves in this guys' position. I'm not going to judge him personally.

It's important to have a good culture from the owner to the fans, otherwise you see **** like this happen.

Percentage wise, the Raptors forum has no more idiotic, over the top fans than the Celtics forum does. They just have more fans than any other forum here. We have crap here that is equally as dumb. There is just less of it to be seen because there are less people. Percentage wise, it is the same.

And it still isn't a good reason to switch the team you root for. Just stay away from other moronic fans. I've lived it here in Orlando. Most got fed up and turned rooting for the team into some sort of odd joke. The real fans here just stayed away from the idiots and did their stuff separately. They didn't bail on the team. And they had a lot more reason than the Raptors fans do to dump the team.

Relax. He is rooting for a different uniform. It is not like he is selling state secrets.

Welcome to the Green, this team is well coached, and has direction. The next 5 years should be a blast. :D
