Re: Better current player: Brown or Tatum?
I almost feel I take these guys for granted.
I was listening to the Woj pod about the coaching changes & the young cores & what not. & i'm thinking to myself, our young core (no even including Kyrie) is just so damn good. & We've been pretenders for the last couple years. These teams have been winning 20 games & still don't have a great futures (besides Philly).
I know we all wanted Jimmy Butler & Paul George, but I think Danny might've drafted them tbh. These 2 are both 2 way players. Both can shoot. Both rebound well. They both need to work on creating for others & passing, but there's plenty of time for that. Handle, playmaking & creating will be keys for them.
I see no reason why Brown can't avg 20-5-4 w/ all nba type defense & be a Butler-ish type physical wing & Tatum being PG13-esque smooth, long lanky w/ a money 3 ball avg'ing 23-5-3 w/ great 2 way play as well.
Right now I give Jaylen the slight edge, but I love both these guys & i'd keep them as long as possible. Getting Davis is worth it. But I wouldn't give them up for Leonard. I think both guys have multiple all star games coming up.

Super close but I’d say Tatum by a small margin.
I brings the ruckus to the ladies!

I say Tatum. I like his length and less reliance on athleticism. Brown's going to be a very very good player. I think Tatum's an all-nba caliber talent.

Brad gets a lot of the props for our success, and rightly so, but Jaytem are both borderline franchise players by themselves, so instead of blitzing the East we've merely played at an elite level this year.

Re: Better current player: Brown or Tatum?
I give a small nod to Brown, right now. And he's improving. Tatum will surpass him though IMO. Tatum's 2nd year will of course be better than this one. How much better is guesswork but it's a safe bet he will improve over his rookie year. He might surpass Brown by next year, but I feel he will eventually surpass him. Once he figures out those little scoops of his he will be devastating. And I firmly believe he will figure it out, he usually has his feet crossed or misses by small margins. Once he gets it watch out.

If we're going future, i'm with you on Tatum.
I think Tatum will be the better player. Agree with both.
But if we're going current? Brown. Slightly.
Love the hell out both these 2 though.

I think Brown will surprise a lot of people. I pick Tatum but wouldn't be surprised if Brown once again proves everyone who doubted him wrong.

You have to give the slight edge to Brown. He has the experience but Tatum has been everything you could ask for and more as a rookie.

Slight edge to Brown. Over the last 1/3 of the season, Brown has really shown improvement.

I was reading a thread and Sixers fans said it was laughable to say Brown is currently better than Tatum and that Saric is better than Brown right now lmao

So far in the playoffs, no question. Let's hope young Mr. Tatum gets his bearings in Milwaukee.

shots were not falling for Tatum, but he still made a positive impact on the game with rebounding and D. That is impressive for a young guy.
Brown has been impressive of late. I had the pleasure to attend that game in Utah where he made the winning shot. not that I wasn't already but that game made me a Brown believer. Pre game he came out early and did this strange difficult ball handling drill. Another poster mentioned he saw him doing it as well at another game. The guy works on his weaknesses and that is going to make him exceptional.

Of course, he is still incredibly young and valuable when he's out there. But we're looking for him to be a star with the team's top two scorers out they are going to need him to step up on that count, let's hope he does.
So far, JB has been able to answer the call (along with AH, TR and MM) but JT hasn't had a complete, team leader-type game--though he and Al and Terry were the three delivering at the end of the tight game 1. I'd actually say JT was more valuable in game 1 and JB in game 2.
I think working hard and wanting to be great will make JB, JT, and TR all continue to get better and better. I hope Danny gives TRo a nice early extension and they get to stay together.

Brown since the discussion is about current.
Going on the not so popular choice that Brown will be a slightly better player than Tatum in the future. Still sinks in my head that Brown said that the biggest room in the world is room for improvement.

I think he, TRo and JT are all thinking that way.

Re: Better current player: Brown or Tatum?
Tatum has not played badly and contributed alot of ways other then scoring last night (rebounds and steals blocks, good passing) His shot seems a bit off this round. He has not stepped up his game the way Brown has this Round.

Re: Better current player: Brown or Tatum?
Brown is deadly at the 3 now. I’m so happy he’s improved his finishing at the basket. No more trying to posterize on every drive. He’s also turning the ball over less. He’s gotten rid of his drive and spin move which wasn’t very successful.
Tatum occasionally tries too hard to score even when his 2nd and 3rd moves fail to work on his defender.

Re: Better current player: Brown or Tatum?
I think Tatum projects as the better talent long term, he is a rookie after all, but Brown is the better player right now. Brown is also the more valuable commodity at the moment because we don't really have anything else that even looks like a SG swing man on this team right at the moment. I also find them very complimentary players as far as their skill sets, this is probably also coaching.
The crazy thing is that people are harping on handles and TO's and neither guy turns the ball over. Tatum's TO% is 10, Brown's 12 to put that in context Paul Pierce was 13.2 for his career. You compare that numbers to some of the biggest stars in the game either at the same point in the career or even later and you will see this isn't really an issue.
One interesting contrast I see is that while Brown seems to rise to the occasion better at this point, if he struggles early he either loses faith in himself or Stevens seems to lose faith in him either way you don't see Jalen shoot his way out of a cold start very often. In that way I think Tatum is more of a pure scorer he doesn't seem to be affected by an 0-7 start. The really special part with Tatum especially at such a young age and early part of his development is that he seems to really be able to contribute when he isn't scoring either on the glass or getting in passing lanes, blocking shots. I would say his ability to impact the game without scoring is superior to Brown, who I think is a better individual defender but doesn't necessarily have the same box score impact as far as rebounding and shot blocking.
